It’s Father’s Day here in Aus. David Campbell and his own dad, Jimmy Barnes, have jointly won the 2024 Australian Fathering of the Year award. 😊

I reckon it's about time you lovely folks dove into Johnny Diesel!. He is Jimmy's brother in law who has played wicked guitar on many of Jimmy's tracks,and supported him for decades. He is also an incredible singer song writer in his own right who has an amazing set of tonsils,and a God given natural ability on the "Gat"!. He is too often passed over. He is the "full package" of talent that could have,and still make it big in the US and beyond if he chose to!. He is "the full box of chocs!" You guys are a welcome go to channel for me!. Thanks guys, Zebedee from Oz 👍

Incredible I wish I'd been there, prime Jimmy! His 'screaming' has been analysed by vocal trainers - as people said he was just yelling - but "nobody can yell through.a whole song or set like that" was the conclusion! 🗣️💖

It's moments like these that you marvel at the long career that Jimmy has had and the impact he has had on my life and my enjoyment in music. He talks about singing at school as a young fellow in his book Working Class Boy? Have you read it, Travis and Suzie? He had a very supportive teacher who loved his voice and later one who didn't like it (how heartbreaking, and how wrong has that person been?). He recalled a special moment in his life watching TV with his Dad and seeing Mahalia Jackson sing. He was blown away and told his Dad if he had a girl he was going to name her Mahalia.....and that is what he has done ❤ His childhood was not a bed of roses, and that's all I say because I think you should hear it from Jimmy himself in reading his first autobiography. What he has done, both as a performer and as a human, to turn his life around is truely wonderful. ❤❤❤❤ Happy Father's Day to all as we celebrate this in Australia today.

I am a huge Jimmy fan, first concert at age 13, will see him with Chisel just a few days before my 51st.. Wow I’m getting old.. For me, this was Jimmy at his best and worst… Without doubt his vocal prime, but sadly the peak of his C addiction.. he was absolutely wild at that point, and vocally astounding…

You would think that with that raspy voice and his singing style Jimmy would have wrecked his voice over the years…but he sounds just as great today as he did back then. Can’t wait to see them in concert in November. The lead guitarist is his brother-in-law Diesel, who is a successful singer in his own right.

I've seen a very drunk Jimmy singing in concerts in his youth but the way he jumping up and down there he looks wired as hell on some substance, rather than alcohol. He looks really skinny to so he had to be going through some crazy shit at this time in his life. I'm sure he paid for this phase of his life a few years later. Only period he ever look liked an addict to me. Still can perform but I do not see this as Jimmy at his best.
@Kimmy584 ай бұрын
Well thanks for your opinion but it's the only one that's negative. I and obviously others love Jimmy whether in his drinking or " other" period. Considering all he's been thru in his life, he has ALWAYS brought 1000% to his fans. You don't have to like it but you don't know anything about what he was going thru at this point if his life. Just cause you've seen him a few times doesn't mean you're his confidant. So don't go spreading crap you really don't know anything about. Just say to yourself " self, I don't like this" and move on. 😒Peace
@shaundgb73674 ай бұрын
@@Kimmy58 I do not see it as negative Kimmy. I just see it as reality of the low point of his path and it great he got beyond this and did not screw his life up. I have no doubt he would look on it the same himself. Cannot wait to see Cold Chisel in a couple of months. Hope you going to one of those concerts wherever you are in Australia.
@Kimmy584 ай бұрын
unfortunately he's not coming anywhere near where I live now and it's too expensive to travel. I understand what you are saying but I still believe you didn't have to bring any of that up. Yeah he's jumping up and down but this song does have quite the long intro before he starts and did you see the crowd? All that screaming for him would have been a rush too . I just don't think you should be saying things like that. Just say you don't like this version and leave it there. I'll say it again.... No matter what Jimmy we get, whatever era, he has ALWAYS brought it to the stage and left it all over the stage when he was done. Enjoy your up and coming concert with the big man!! I'm so jealous 😏

I was right in front of him at the Last Stand back in the day he handed me his vodka bottle for a skull then I had to hand it back to him got some wicked photos of him from that concert was amazing

@@Kimmy58 Sorry, you cannot get to one of those concerts Kimmy. Hopefully you seen some in the past. Jimmy has had some great gigs in his solo career and with Cold Chisel so I am sure you see him live once or twice to enjoy. As far as saying things what I think, that is called freedom of expression and I do not believe in censorship or should do this or should do that ideas. There is enough nonsense in the world with the dictating regimes in nations like North Korea , China and Russia . Be thankful we can both have a different view and express it.
