Those two actors were Walter Matthau and Carolyn Jones. Carolyn was giving Elvis the cold shoulder. Her well known acting was playing Morticia Addams of TV Addams Family. Walter had a long career in movies.

Carolyn Jones did not give Elvis Presley the cold treatment or the cold shoulder from what I understand she was concerned that Elvis would get infected because she had some serious dental problems at the time so the story gets twisted Carolyn Jones truly and Elvis Presley truly like each other

As a kid I grew up in the '70's. I remember watching this movie "King Creole ". I instantly thought that it was a very well put movie. I was seven years old, and to this day, it's one of my favorite Elvis Presley movies. The movie, in my honest opinion, is one of, if not the best, acting performances Elvis did. Elvis didn't take ANY acting classes at all. Naturally acquired, I'd say.

Ten years later, he opened the '68 Comeback Special with the same song, a shorter version of "Trouble" that went into "Guitar Man". I hope you react to that, you can see how Elvis & his voice matured over that decade. He sounded great at any age but it's a really interesting comparison. Please do it! The video of that opening is right here on KZbin ready for you!!💙☮💙 Oh, & a big "thank you!" to Matt!💙

I have been a huge Elvis fan all my life. My Dad has always been a big Elvis fan since Elvis started. (he passed it on to me) He loves this film. I like all the Elvis flicks (controversial I know) There was just something about him, something magnetic -personality voice. It was a great shame that fame and life whomped him. Still remember coming home from school and hearing about Elvis's death on the news and my father just so quiet on the sofa.

King Creole was Elvis's 4th and Favorite Movie. After filming wrapped, Elvis was called to serve in the Army for 2 years and was stationed in Germany. When Elvis completed his Service, Elvis resumed his Film Career, he wanted to be taken seriously as an Actor but the Studio's and his Manager Colonel Tom Parker were more interested in making money and they felt that Musical Comedies were easier to turn out one after another and they made money, lots of it but Elvis was growing more and more frustrated, he wanted to be a Great Actor but he needed the right rolls to show what he could do. Elvis made 31 Movies and 2 On Tour Concert Documentaries.

RE: King Creole, I read somewhere what happened was he got drafted but during the picture or just as they were to start filming. So the army let him finish the picture first befrore reporting in. However many have speculated he was drafted on purpose to stop his evil commie plot of immoral rock and roll music corrupting youth...FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover may have had a hand in his getting drafted lol. he had his sticky finger skinto everything, why not?

This was my favorite movie that Elvis did and it was a serious role where later on when he got back from the Army his manager Colonel Tom Parker made these long-term contracts with Paramount that Elvis wasn't crazy about these cheesy type movies but they still were box office hips because he only where you can see Elvis in those days was you had to go to the movie because he hadn't been performing on stage since before he went in the army and this was also Elvis favorite movie he was very proud that he got a serious role and he just like himself in Jailhouse Rock and another one called wild in the country and follow that dream and Viva Las Vegas those were his favorites of all the 33 films that he did and they are my favorites LOL

The other "punk" was Vic Morrow who later starred in the WWII series "Combat!" in the 1960's etc. It is mind bogglong that the younger generation does not recognize these actors right away or at all like the older generation does, as these movies are available and information is available all over the internet. Walter Matthau became a big star doing both comedy and drama movies.

They wanted to get rid of Elvis for his so called vulgar moves, so at the end of 1957 he received his draft notice. They agreed to allow him to finish filming this movie. He tuned 23 on Jan 08, 1958. It was peace time, no wars and there was no need to draft him. It nearly destroyed his mom, as he was the only child and they were so close. She began drinking too much and died a few months later at age 46. That nearly destroyed Elvis, which you can see his reaction in the Elvis movie. Then he left to do his Army duty in Germany, and refused to receive special treatment, such as entertains the troops. He did regular field service ,sleeping outside in freezing weather ,like the other guys. He met 2 Army buddies, who when they returned were members of his Memphis Mavia, and friend for life. He met Priscilla there in late 1959. One of his buddies, saw her and invited her to visit Elvis, not realizing she was only 14. Elvis liked her, and she continued to visit until his 1960 March discharge. She was there to see the plane off, standing next to his grandma. He lived off base with his dad, Aunt Delta and his grandma. Him having done regular Army duty. gave him new restpect, and he appeared on the Frank Sinatra show, with Sammy Davis Jr. and other celebs for a line to welcome him home. He was dressed in a tux, due to his evil manager who wanted a clean image for what he called his boy. Unfortunately, his manager, played by Tom Parker, who received 25% of Elvis’ earnings, later 50%. did not care about Elvis wanting to be a serious actor, even more than a famous singer. So in the 60s, despite Elvis wishes, the movie plots became routine, with a fast production schedule , just so Elvis could sing mostly silly songs, released on Albums. Elvis never appeared on TV again until his 1968 Comeback special. Ellen then his manager demanded a show of Christmas songs. The producer of the show, Steve Binder and Elvis decided to ignore Parker and did a show that revived his career. The critics were full a praise after it aired, and Colonel Parker, Tom Hanks admitted he was wrong, and Elvis was right. Then he did Vegas from 1969 until his death at 42 on August 16,1977. It is unusual to see Tom Hanks, play such an evil lying, money hungry person, who turned out to be an illegal alien. This was discovered after Elvis death, and his manager was accused of cheating Elvis, and was no longer allowed to handled Elvis Presley Enterprise. Priscilla, his ex wife took over. Lisa Marie was 9 when Elvis died, and was staying there at Graceland when he was discover dead. Elvis had always begged Tom Parker to travel and perform abroad, where countries were will to pay a million dollars for just one show. Parker couldn’t go for fear his illegal status would be discovered and his real Dutch name. Instead Parker continue to say, we go in 3 yrs, then 5 yrs, but made up lies like security abroad. This upset and depressed not only Elvis, but members of his Memphis Mafia who also begged Tom Parker to allow Elvis to go abroad. BTW, the movie has a scene where, Elvis called Parker out from the stage in Vegas. That never happened, it was found out after Elvis death. Priscilla moved to Graceland in 1963, 2 months b4 her high school

Wow! Thanks for all the info. My love for The King was passed to me by my mom. Mom was a divorced woman raising 3 kids working her butt off to keep us in an upper middle class environment. We didn't have a TV but did have a record player. We played records and danced or roller skated a lot. Chubby Checkers was another favorite of mom's. When I got older I won every twist contest I entered. She taught us to twist on roller skates with back bending to touch our shoulders to the floor! We were finally going to see him in person bc my brother had moved to LV after college. But alas he passed away. The world wept.

Hollywood could take the hit but Elvis couldn’t. A string of bad or silly songs in last few years of the movies were never to be on record or radio and they broke that business promise. And because he wasn’t recording as before to have the good songs out their, he was laughed at and joked about in main stream, out side his fan base”. It wasn’t good for His reputation or his genus creativity in “composing songs Making them his own“ or his dynamic singing ability. It almost destroyed him. There is a couple of KZbin pieces done by ones who managed the 68 come back that tells that story. They were out side colonel Parker’s mtg. They had to fight with Parker. They also said all of them quickly fell in love with him, and working with him was one of the best experiences. Also saying he was the most easy going stars ever to work with. Never that pious attitude they have to put up with so much out their

You guys have got to see how great Elvis could act in the black and white version of King Creole! But a few years after that his manager currently Parker was so stupid in my opinion regarding not honoring Elvis's wanting to grow as a true dramatic after that he could have been had Colonel Parker not signing into the silly formulaic movies where he had to sing and there was no real substance to the scripts that he was offered and that is why I was being a true artist felt like Parker signing up to long term contracts in advance 5 years ahead of time they were just formulaic movies. But King Creole with one of his favorites and so is jailhouse Rocks and Wild in the country, Follow that dream and Viva Las Vegas

You know Elvis wanted to be a serious actor so bad but Colonel Tom Parker his manager with all interested only in money and during the 60s had a lot of those stupid teenage movies and stuff like this when he sang four five songs in a movie money you know make money and money money now you take movies like love me kinder or flaming star another one called charro these so the serious side of Elvis and how good the actor he was and could have been it's my understanding also that John Wayne at one time wanted to do a picture with Elvis one of his westerns and Colonel Tom Parker put a cabbage on that wouldn't let always do it because John Wayne wouldn't let Elvis have top billing it's just too bad because it always was very very good actors could have been so much more good enough I think he could have won an Oscar
