Slight correction - those aren't actually 'air brakes' which is why they are so small, their 'dive flaps', even if the game possibly lists them wrong. Their meant to alter the pressure distribution as part of solving a compressibility issue at high speeds - J's were modified with them with after the fact kits/just off the assembly line but after that newer models were built with them (why it has them but the J doesn't). And especially in certain configurations (fools bringing gun pods) - P-38 can actually out turn some of the 190's and 109's, you just have to learn which ones - with the L being the best of them at doing it. It's twice as fun in Arcade where people think all the boosts the 109/190 get like other planes will keep them safe only to watch this big a-- lightning suddenly show up behind them and actually out turn them

I never take the pods. I'd rather have my climb rate unaffected. The nose guns are more than enough to shred enemies

I've really been enjoying these lately and just going through your backlog to see all the older videos. I don't play anymore but I loved spading vehicles and just seeing how big of a difference it made when everything was unlocked, especially with the aircraft at higher tiers. Would you consider doing a Stock to Spaded on the American F7F-1 or Japanese N1K2-Ja since they're now foldered? I always loved the looks of the F7F but could never do too well in it and stopped before I spaded it. The N1K's are also just really cool but the mess that is high tier Japan always discouraged me.

The battle rating really kills my enjoyment of this plane. Despite it being better in every way than the P-38G, the G gets put up against fighters that it can actually compete with. Playing 5.7 games in the L is just not a fun experience.

Yep, and also the teams are so much worse at the higher BR. It's terrible.

Hey Tankenstein, thank you for your Videos. At the moment, I´m playing the german tech tree. I´ve unlocked most of the first 3 Ranks and some Rank 4 planes. I wondered, if it is me, feeling like the prey in every match. But as I watch your videos, I´m starting to understand. No german plane is able to keep up with most of the other countries. It´s extremely frustrating. I´m happy to have bombs on my 109´s and 190´s. Coz thats what I do... I do ground targets... But having fun with a german plane is like sunburn on a rainy day in winter atm.
