Soul Performance Products told me, over and over, that adding their Competition Exhaust Headers would totally transform the exhaust note of my Cayman. I believed them, but I was still blown away at how amazing it sounds now!

John @soulperformance is an amazing guy. I bought an early production 718 GT4 promotion car & ended up going with the Race Exhaust. Well… once I had the whole car apart I realized I had a European mount exhaust bracket. John that same day literally meet me HALF WAY with a usdm bracket to finish the install! Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to you as well! Yeah, the sound is amazing, it's like a GT3 Cup Car. Especially at Sebring when you're coming down the front straight between those concrete walls and next to the pit stalls, the sound being reflected back on you gets so intense that it's hard to hear the other person, even using communicators :)

Thanks for the video, Cliff. very helpful. It is nice to see how (relatively) easy it is to install vs other cars. I'm going to do the catted headers for my 987.1 due to CA emissions. My car already has TechArt cat-back which growls nicely so perhaps I'll just finish them with X-tips to improve flow.

That’s more like it 👍 can’t wait to to fit my headers , Race headers are the single best sound and performance upgrade you can do on the 987.2 3.4 , that sounds very GT3 I love the fly by comparison, I bet it makes you laugh 😆 I was going to fit the ipd plenum and 82mm throttle but decided against it , I’ve been told by a guy that regularly dynos a 987.2 3.4 cayman track car that it made no difference with race headers and the 74mm gave enough flow anyway , he told me just do race headers save your money 💰 The one thing I would like to do is map in a few light pops and crackles same as the 981 nothing too over the top,

I'm going to do the IPD plenum and TB (I already have them) since IPD is one of my sponsors. We'll see how it goes, I've heard wildly varying reports. Since I'll have a high-flow intake/filter and the Soul exhaust already installed, perhaps that's when the plenum/tb can make a difference. I'm also going to do a tune with pops/crackles as the last stage. However, I don't understand your comment. What's wrong with being over-the-top? 😀

@@CliffsGarage Yes always get mixed reports a lot probably has to do with who is doing the ecu tune , I mite still go for the ipd plenum, I love the flyby video, kept the videos coming all great stuff .. :-)

I have the same upgrades from SOUL…no odor from lack of CATS. The sound is amazing (if annoying to neighbors) and the performance with a BMC air filter and Softronic ECU map is noticeable (butt dyno) but probably not more than 5-7%. The smile factor is 100%, especially in tunnels and during downshifts.

Hi cliff what did your car run like with the de cat race headers on before you remapped it ? Did it run ok ? It’s going to be a few days before I can get mine remapped, will it run ok for time being before remapped, still fitting them at the moment, ? :-)

I did not get a remap, if the engine took any time to adjust it was a matter of minutes.

any info on what the rattle is after you let off of the throttle? my 986 Boxster S has the same problem.

Sounds amazing! So the soul spacer doesn’t eliminate CEL even with the smallest insert? Did you experiment with the other apertures

I went with the smallest aperture based on Soul's recommendation. Getting the spacer loose to swap apertures would be a major pain and I just haven't had the gumption to do it :)

A “significant noticeable boost in power” dictates testing and numbers. Please don’t cave this easily. I’m in agreement that an engine and even the car needs to be treated holistically BUT testing as you suggest means your new baseline without an improved item is a measurement of all the other mods that would also no longer be optimized without the component you removed. Because it’s where we all start from, most are interested in what helps incrementally rather than what, when removed, hurts a fully modded engine. Hope that makes sense. Do this long enough and one realizes the butt dyno feels infallible but routinely lies.

The two aren't interchangeable, so not exactly. It'll be very similar and the instructions/support from Soul are very good.
