I like how his lesson wasn’t “I didn’t try in school and look at me! I’m successful!” It’s, “I wish I tried harder so from that point on, I decided to apply myself. I made a mistake so now I’m going to learn from it.”

I love that also. The feeling of being left behind is a feeling you don’t forget easily especially when you could’ve done something about it but didn’t take action.

Most people realize that this path is more affordable for the average person only after going this route. The pressure to attend university straight from our parents was due to college being affordable back then. I remember my friends parents mentioning they'd work a summer job and it'd pay for tuition, books, and more. Just for a summer job at minimum wage. But there's no denying a prestige of attending straight out of high school. And college these days are more about the people you meet rather than the curriculum. Unless you mean graduate degrees. Losing two years of potential networking is a loss, and it's definitely more difficult as a transfer to connect to others.

@@desp_ana that’s why you need to rise above everyone else. My dads friend was kinda in the situation where after high school he had friends going to college having the party of their lives and didn’t even think to check in on him. He took his time and went to trade school. He now works as a construction contractor and makes an absolute SHIT TON of money, and guess what happened when his “friends” who didn’t give a fuck about him before found out about the cash that was rolling in. They started asking him for money and trying to hang out cause he had stuff. Story is, you can feel completely alone and behind everyone else at times but there ain’t nothing wrong with that. Yes but grades are not everything. As someone that got Ds in my undergrad at the end of my degree. It counts for the Diploma, but the GPA suffers. Not in my case though because I had As in all the classes I could in Bio, my degree, and art, my minor. So it kinda evened itself out. I still had 3.2 overall and I'm a biology major. Everything makes so much more sense now being out and I get constant reminders of how to do everything because I'm a high school teacher/private k-12 + university chem tutor. Big elite schools, future employers, etc. All like unique stories. They will chose the person that is different from the person that just checked all the boxes. I had a boss tell me they hired me because I was an art major and I did science classes. He didn't give a shit what I put on my resume and job application. He came up with his own way of remembering me how it made sense to him. I got into a fancy program for my teaching credential. Out of many candidates, I was chosen because I specifically talked about STEAM and I studied abroad for 3 summers. I stand out by experiences I've had at my university, not just my grades. I think keeping that in mind keeps us well rounded and valuable on a team.

I got moved from house to house school to school and it cost me my basic education 🙃. By the time I got to middle school I was stuck in "special classes " and just pushed along from grade to grade. By the time I got to high-school it was the same shit different day ...my father was the only one to push me so my freshman year I was actually doing OK ... sadly him and my stepfather got in a fight one day and that was the last time I saw him before his funeral 😔 after my dad wasn't in my life I went from an A-C student to straight F's ... I gave up on myself I hated my life for a long time.... I wish I was able to see what my dad was trying to teach me ... never give up never settle always push yourself even when it's hard .... work hard for what you want and you'll get it ....one day at a time .....I miss my father everyday but I'll never forget the man he was or love he had for me I wish he was here but all I can do is take what he taught me and move forward....

I went to a contuation school and passed some classes in like 2 weeks but the teacher starting giving me assignments I asked her to do last because they were the hard for me ( I wanted to save the worst for last) on top of then she got a bunch of students in and I wasn't getting the help I needed so I left never looked back and honestly now I don't care I never graduated.
