My dad surprised me with tickets to the Miesha Tate/Ronda Rousey fight. I had never been to such an event, nor seldom watched the sport at all, but was happy to tagalong with him. We sat roughly 3 rows back (watched that elbow snap up close and personal) and was pleasantly surprised with how many big celebrities we sat amongst (not sure how he got such good tickets). In walks Don Frye. I had no idea who this man was, only that I'd never seen my dad so excited. He hands me his phone and says "I want you to get my picture with this man, son. Even if he starts beating the shit out of me." My dad, who I chalked up as one of the strongest "working man strength" men I'd known in my life, very awkwardly approached Mr. Frye (who had a couple beers in him by this point) and goes "Excuse me, sir." Mr. Frye, without even looking, goes "No pictures!" My father retorted "How about one of you kicking my ass then?" He loved that and gladly let me take their picture together. Completely made my dad's night and as soon as we got home he showed me the video of Mr. Frye fighting Takayama. I still chuckle about that memory to this day knowing if Mr. Frye would have started laying the beatdown, my dad would have been laying on the ground with a smile and a thumbs up to have received a total whoopin from this legend.

@@JoseDiaz-yl9sh the black race are the most dominant in every sport and that's a fact buddy. Example you people had all white football league. Now it's all black league. What goes around comes around. Asking if I got in the ring. Your mother didn't ask me that when she was sitting on my lap telling her a bedtime story. Move around buddy. I can't punch you with text. Tricks are for kids

I've just learnt about Don Fry from this video, and I wonder how many times I've seen him fight and just thought he was Dan Severn instead. Uncanny resemblance between the two, and both killers to boot.

You know, Big John McCarthy is an amazingly good ref. Not only does he control the fights, but he knows, with surgical precision, just when the loser has had it, without risking the man’s health. I don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves.
