The best free alternative to Pro-Q 3 is the ZL Audio ZL Equalizer. It’s essentially FabFilter Pro-Q 3, but with additional powerful features you didn’t even know you needed.

My favourite free plugin is Spoton, a replacement for Auto-tune which cost like $399 or something. Spoton has less features but personally it got all I need.

Wow that Tal reverb 2 is something that I had overlooked. It has an interesting sound and actually outputs a seemingly louder signal than a lot of other verb plugins I've used. Also for another excellent free guitar library check out Impact Soundworks' free kontakt libraries.There's two actually. Shreddage 3 precision and Shreddage 3 Stratus. Both sound excellent

If you don't play for software then why should someone pay you for your recording or mixing services?
@theworldsprojectКүн бұрын
So if someone mixes a song using stock plugins from a DAW they bought, should they be compensated for their work?
@DoctorMcFarlandStudiosКүн бұрын
@@theworldsproject stock plugins are different than intentionally trying to replace a paid plugin with a free version. If you have zero money then you do need to learn to get by with what you have. Everything these days is a race to the bottom. If you do make money from recording and mixing then buying plugins is a tax write off but your first instinct should be to buy a plugin hoping to make you a better mixer.

@@theworldsproject i feel you.. and my laptop is congested with Plugs and VSTs i've bought over the years (especially from Native Instruments, who just updated their software, and the update is NOT free. i paid for that too). I remember i bought Spectrasonics Trilian (vault of Bass instruments), i loved it so much i paid for the electronic download, and ALSO the boxed physical hard drive to do the installs offline.. WELL, soon after that Spectrasonics did something that rendered my boxed set of CDs and Hard drive unusable. It's like it was phased out. & i was like hey, i paid for this. i felt like a robbery happened.. and when my computer crashed, i had to pay for it again (& their stuff is crazy expensive). I remember when VSTs and Plugs used to be the cheaper alternative to buying the hardware versions, or instruments.. NOW in 2024, there are Plugins and VSTs that cost more than the actual thing its replicating. and then they only let you do a certain amount of Install, iLok will stop letting you use what you paid for if you installed it too many times (when computers crash, and you reinstall things you can get feedback like you're on a different computer, when it's actually the same, and it subtracts from your allotted amount of installs). Also, there are some vendors/developers who once you've paid for something, and have to deal with their wacky way of doing an install (place the dll file here, and rescan there.. cross your heart and pray.. Lol) when none of that works.. you email them, because there is no customer service number.. & they IGNORE you. Then you're forced to go to some forum online, where everyone is venting, and the blind are leading the blind. So, i've supported these developers, but the rip off is real..

@@LGN.420 If u are broke, u can use actual free plugins, most which are on par or at least close enough to paid ones. Being broke is no excuse to become a vile criminal! Also in today's world anyone with decent mixing skills would NOT even need any paid plugins, 'cos stock plugins and free ones are good enough!
