Ctrl + Lclick with the faceset brush while hovering over the faceset allows you to continue drawing it. Hovering over the undrawn part allows you to erase them.

Thank you very much! I'm new to Blender, and your explanation was the best so far in actually figuring out how to use face sets as masks for brushes. Cheers!

Excellent tutorial. Had no idea how to use face sets/face maps.

Thank you very much. I've had some ideas I've wanted to try sculpting, but I always wondered how to keep parts separated (for example if I sculpted someone with their arms crossed). Now I have an idea of what to try out.

Oh my god I’ve been racking my brain figuring out how to fix those insersections while putting limbs back together from 3d scanned parts, this is so helpful!

It's such a cool feature, Face Sets were a real eye opener for me.

Blender however still lacks a fundamental feature of Zbrush remesh which is to remesh a selected or masked area or face set. Masks, face sets or polygroups are used for that, as well as the auto-crease function or crease by polygroups feature that exists in Zbrush, there are workarounds but require a lot of clicks and in some cases modifiers.

Yes I was trying to find out a way to do it like zbrush, I really want to like blender but its still to slow for me to use for work.

Just tied using it and ran into a serious flaw. How do you delete/remove/erase a face set? Because as far as I can see, once a face set is painted, it is there for ever.
@falconiusazurius5572 Жыл бұрын
Found the solution: hold down CTRL and paint from unmarked faces into the face set.
@Tramfabriek25 күн бұрын
This way: Make sure nothing is hidden, then Face Sets> Face Set from Visible. It will all change to one colour.

How to make face sets from image texture?
@WPguru9 ай бұрын
I don't think you can. You can paint them manually with the Face Set brushes in Sculpt Mode, or you can select UV Islands and use that selection through Edit Mode.

Blender sucks. I don't have, or cant find, the tool draw face that you are using. This seems to happen a lot. Sorry to rant, but I get so frustrated with this program. Is it there and not set up or did they take it out of some versions?
@WPguru2 жыл бұрын
I hear you, Blender is a little overwhelming at times. It doesn't help that every version has a good chance that a feature is moved to a different location. It's like... a puzzle 😄 Face Sets have been introduced in Blender 2.83 I believe, so the latest version definitely has it. When you switch over to Sculpt Mode, press SHIFT+Space and you'll see a list of possible sculpting brushes. One of them is called Draw Face Sets (shortcut is SHIFT 8). Hope this helps hunt it down.

@@WPguru Okay thank you. I will install the latest version and see what they have. BTW I just wanted to mention that you are very rare and gifted with your communications and abilities to teach and explain things.

@@jdwagman A really easy way is to make a selection in edit mode and then in sculpt mode, under Face Sets, choose Face Set from Edit Mode Selection. It's what I use all the time. So in this case, in edit mode, hover your cursor over the clothing you want to isolate, press L to Select Linked (selects all connected geometry, in this case, the shirt) then make it a face mask in Sculpt Mode and Bob's your uncle.

Any time. As hard a blender can be, there is a massive community of users who are very helpful. That’s why I stuck with it.
