Jerry, I for one, and hopefully others, would enjoy hearing the story of an independent writer for the auto magazine business. I grew up reading any car magazine I could get my hands on, and unfortunately have witnessed the near demise of the car magazine as we all knew it. Your videos are the best, thank you for your efforts!

Thanks, the story is what I am after. I did this video because people don't usually call me when they have a barn find, which is where I often find good stories. Of course, it doesn't have to be a barn find, just an interesting story, which starts with a conflict at the beginning that we fix. For example, I'd like to do a story about a person inheriting a car or a car collection, and the problems they encountered. Maybe there was no will, and there were problems. There are so many, so have you?

Thank you, Jerry, for what you do. You stand apart from the other automotive channels. Your videos are about the car and the people and not about you. I enjoy your voice overs and that you stay behind the camera instead of in front of it. Also, great stories and high production value make your channel one of my favorites on KZbin. There is more to these videos than finding a car in a barn.
@thewriter2549

Thank you 100 times for calling that out. Exactly, the story is about them, not me. I also let these people watch and okay the videos before I publish them to KZbin. Some of them get in Hot Rod in print and get to read and okay those stories first, too. So, why do they call the car flippers instead of me? If they want I can buy their cars. Also several of the people I featured in these videos have found incredible barn finds and would not call me to go along and do a video. I think they are so anxious to get the cars they just go. But, they wouldn't have received those leads except they were in a video on this channel. I made this video to try and explain this situation. Thanks for your comment.

@@thewriter2549 Maybe you can explain a head scratch ? I've had for several decades. The 1960s Mustangs were built in Dearborn, MI. Carroll Shelby was born in TX. But the GT350, GT350R etc. were customized in San José, CA. Why not in TX ?

But what’s I totally don’t like is the guy who shows up with a trailer knows it all but actually doesn’t know crap about anything. Any guy can ramble off sats and differences with styles that he read on the internet. He doesn’t know about the soul of the car gets to know it and enjoy what the car/truck was made for.

I think when people with barn finds call they want to sell, otherwise their car would remain hidden. Either that or they want to get the car out and get it started. So, I want to tell them I will do both a story on their car and I will also buy their car if that's what they want.

Hey Jerry, I was born in 74. That means that by 1980, I literally read every single car magazine that had to do with corvettes, chevelles,and mustangs as well as street rods!!!! I used to spend every cent of my paper route money to buy all of them!!! All the way in to the early 90s when I graduated. So I just want to thank you because I'm positive that your pictures and articles fueled my childhood!!! I grew up with a 1964 corvette, a 1968 and 70 mustang, as well as my uncle had a 70 chevelle. And my next door neighbor had a 70 Buick gs stage 2!!! And the rest of the town had incredible street rods!!! Yes sir it was hot rod heaven back the,even Wolfman Jack came to my hometown one summer for a huge car show!!!! I'd give anything to go back to those days for just one day!!! And if I could I'd run red lights on my bicycle that had a banana seat to go see my grandmas! So thank you Jerry! I love your channel and I appreciate your time!!! Also I'd love to hear more about your career if you could make a video about that I think it would be amazing! Take care sir....and thank you on behalf of my generation of car magazine gearheads!!!!

Thanks, sounds good. I did this video because I was getting a little burned out editing movies. I was talking to some magazine editors one day from the MTG (Motor Trend Group) and they said they were pretty sure nobody had photographed more Corvettes than me for features in car magazines because I shot so much for Corvette Fever and Vette magazines. I was always independent so publishers brought me to the shows and picked out cars for me to shoot. They would go to dinner and I would be out there shooting cars until literally dark. I could do time exposures and get great photos until the last drop of light. I am positive I wrote more magazine features on Mustangs than anybody. In 1986, I wrote up the test drive of the new 1987 Mustang GT for 7 different car magazines. I paid my own expenses to those press long leads, and then sometime in the 1990's the auto companies started paying expenses. When that happened, the publishers started sending the staff guys to long leads and soon I couldn't get in anymore.

Years ago, a dealer explained why an owner will sell a collector car to a dealer. This dealer had just purchased a classic Mach 1 Mustang off an individual for I believe $4,000 and sold it for $7,000 the same day. He had a Mustang parts business in Southern California. Why did the owner sell his Mach 1 for this price? His exact words were he didn't want to "take the time" to advertise the car. The dealer told me, "If you don't have the time, you don't get the money." Advertising the car means dealing with tire-kickers and the more specialty the card is, the more of a national market you will have to deal with to sell.

If you're talking about me, in 27 years (1991-2019) I wrote over 800 barn find stories in my monthly columns titled "Rare Finds" that appeared in Mustang Monthly, Vette, Musclecar Review, Mopar Muscle, and Hot Rod Mustang, plus 2 books on Rare Finds. I bought a total of one of those cars. In 2019, Motor Trend canceled the magazines I worked for and I began transitioning to KZbin video. I don't know what you are talking about with the R--code Mustang. I don't know who you are, but I've never known anybody to pay for the location of a car.
