I’m not a car guy by any stretch of the imagination; however, this story transcends physical ownership and speaks directly of the inner moments and spaces that we all subscribe to in one way or another. It’s said that there is more that unites us than divides us, and I would argue that John & Marilyn’s story, Buddy & Toni’s gesture, and the cast of people that brought this rare account to life are proof that this is so. Thanks to the entire cast for sharing, and it is without question that we’re all better off having spent half an hour in your (recorded) company.

Seriously one of the best videos I've ever seen on KZbin. To wit: An impressive combination of people came together to make this happen, John and Marylin had such a great time driving it and attending the car show, it was so popular in a way that only original patina cars are any more, super generous current owner saying that John can borrow it for however long he wants to, and that freeze-frame fade out at the end jut brought the whole thing together in a perfect way.

A year later I traded it for a 1968 SS396 Camaro 4-spd, burnt orange with black interior. I really wish I still had the Camaro, but the Chevelle would be cool too. Both cost way more than I could ever afford nowadays. So many great memories in both of them. I know how this couple feels, it is amazing what was done for them. The son was there when I pulled it from the "barn", but didn't want to see it again after I left with it. About a year and a half ago he changed his mind and has come over three times to look at it. Just like the car, they got older but, the youthful spirit keeps on living.

Reminds me of my high school sweetheart and myself in my 66 SS. I'm 75 now & she moved on but I've still got the car! I restored it for my daughter as of all the cars I've done it's the one she wants to keep. Mine, being in California, was in much better shape but of course I had to replace the trunk filler panel too, I saved all the parts I replaced including the original holley carb which acts exactly the same as this one even after only sitting a month. I swapped in a temporary quadrajet to make it easier for her - a little priming and it's ready to go every time - no fuss. I drove it daily until the 70's gas crunch then just for road trips. Great to see them having so much fun with it! Nice that you did that for them!

I would love to ride with you in one of your old restored classic cars. They are the best.

To me a car like this will always catch my eye over a show queen. Fully restored cars are almost forgettable from one car show to the next unless something really special, but its cars like these that always stick out in your mind, especially when paired with a great story like this one.
