Nebraska!! I was recently handed down a 68 mustang that was won on a $1 raffle in 1968. These videos fuel my desire to get it restored. It's gotten me into classic cars more than I could have imagined. Nice barn find!

Must have been a hot car to be a raffle winner. What was this car?
@joeymlnarik5805
@joeymlnarik5805 Жыл бұрын
@@thewriter2549 It's a Red 68 Mustang Coupe with a 289 2v & 3 speed manual and a radio delete plate. I've been told they raffled off 2-3 cars and this was the cheaper raffle car. My wife's grandpa got the call that he won, left home to go pick it up. They were so excited to get it home they ended up dropping it off the trailer and bent the rear bumper, the dent is still there.

I have no idea why this story would come to my page, being a women who isn’t in to cars, although my husband is an auto painter, neither of us care for it as a hobby. That was so much fun to watch, the history and knowledge of it all. The man who assessed it really knows his stuff! The men who sold it were so nice and I wish you all the luck with your dream car! I hope I get to see it when it’s all done! I do appreciate a great paint job along with all the other work !

I was all of 16 years old in 1982 when I saw a Shelby Cobra sitting in a barn in Indiana. We were painting the barn and saw something covered with some blankets to protect it from the pigeon shit. As a curious kid, I went in and pulled back the cover......and I fell in love. The owners had parked a disk, plow and planter around it to keep it there. Always wonder what became of it.

I feel really lucky to have grown up with a favorite uncle who had a 68 gt350 from the time i was born. Not too many people ever even get to ride in a Shelby and i cruised around in one every summer until about 1997. He finally sold his mint candy red 68 Shelby and at the time $35k was a lot, but Gone in 60 seconds come out not long after and the prices of them went thru the roof because of Eleanor. Plus it was originally a 1 of 6 Raven black w/ black luxury seats car, so it would be so valuable today, it always drove perfectly.

I went right to the dealership I believe I paid $8,000 for her..Brand new..Big Bucks for 1967..I had the Need for Speed at the time that was the car to get. I often wonder, what happens to these old cars after restoration, when its owner passes on? All the pride of working on it, and being the first one to take it for a drive must be something most of us will never feel. I've loved these old Mustangs as much as the next guy, and had a buddy that's owned many back in the '70's, always fastbacks, and always 4 speeds. Haven't seen him in years, but my bet is he still has a Mustang of some kind! Myself, in my youth where Chevy's, as at 17 I bought my first car, which was a nice running '57 Chev Bel Air, 283 automatic, and I have a ton of memories with that car. After that I had a '67 Chevy II, 327 4 speed, I paid $1,500. for, and wish I had kept of course, knowing what they go for now! In the end though, never having had a fastback Mustang, they still grab my attention faster than any other car, and will see them in car shows only unfortunately. I just hope those that have them, truly realize just how fortunate it is to own one!

Very cool! Love your channel since the stories and the cars are so cool. I grew up in the muscle era and my dad was a salesman at a Buick dealer so I got to see as a kid a Stage 1 GSX, a 70 Superbird and a 62 Skylark. So cheers and keep the stories coming!

Jerry, I forwarded this to a good friend of mine. He's a former GT-350 owner and presently has a fully restored Tiger. Andy Walker is his name if you know him. Incredible find, I drooled all over my keyboard watching it! Carl (retired Sunbeam Alpine and Lotus 61 racer)

Yes, and when a friend gives a friend the opportunity to buy a car like this. That is the fact that if I could make the resolution of this story would fascinate to the maximum. Maybe the story doesn't know until something happens at the end to reveal it.

I had a 64&1/2 - 65 289 with 2 4 barrels & 4 speed FastBack (Black/White interior) with the round Enameled Cobra Snake in each Front Fender. I owned it From Sept '68 to 1978-9. Sold it to a 15 year old boy who wanted to restore it, For $100. 2 years ago I stopped where I had Delivered the Mustang, but the People didn't live there anymore. The gentleman that now owned the house in Sussex WI. mentioned he had Bought it 7 years ago and when he first looked at the house he remembered seeing an Old Black Mustang in a Lean To next to the Garage. Didn't pay any attention if it was restored or not.

Considering fastbacks didn't come out til 65, a 64 1/2 is rare.

Congrats Jerry! I realize it will likely be a long drawn out process to find all the parts, and build her to spec, but please document the build for us devoted fans. On second thought, you're well know in the circle so have a lot of connections, and this build may not take as long as it otherwise would, lets hope that's the case for you Jerry! 😁😎🎄🎅👍✌

I am from Nebraska and when I was young there were barn finds all across the state and the 60's muscle cars were ticket some had been wrecked, some had been put in storage from family members and some were it was my son's car he was killed in Vietnam and so on but once the the old became collectibles and drove the price up people flocked to Nebraska to scoop up the treasures. Not many left there anymore.

There is a barn in Sequim, WA that has TWO Shelby GT350s tucked away in it along with more other stuff than most people can even imagine. I was in the barn about 10yrs ago when I sold the owner a pair of Jag XJ6s, one with 350/350 in it. I was amazed at the collection of stuff crammed into that barn.

WOW. Plaza Fiber Glass. That is a shocker, supplying parts to Ford. In the 1970's I worked for Mack Truck Canada. During that time we brought on Plaza Fiberglass as a supplier, to make hoods. My dad had a Chev Vega with rusted out front fenders. I talked to the owners about making a left and right fenders. No Problem. Within a short period of time I was the proud owner of two Plaza Fiberglass fenders, in primer. Brought a can of paint and on the afternoon shift, the fenders were painted. A week later the fenders were on the car. My dad was thrilled.🦊

Saw your AWESOME purchase and reminded me of a '67 Shelby I bought and sold in the late eighties. It was a drag car and was sold to a Mexico customer. I kept the original steering wheel, gas cap and Shelby VIN plate which I still have in the attic. ( I also personally owned a '69 GT 500 which I traded in for a '72 cutlass supreme). Good luck with your project !
