in legends, the x-wing book series. warlord Zsinj developed an interdiction mine that would lay dormant until its hyperspace sensors detected a ship, then pulse its grave well on for only a few seconds, just enough to cause the ship(s) to drop out of hyperspace, followed immediately by an ion pulse and an automated comm signal to its command ship to the effect of "caught something at x,y,z coordinates" so the minelaying vessel could mosey back and pick up the disabled ships at its leisure

There was something similar in the new Thrawn series, I think it was the Treason book. Thrawn discovered a cloaked gravity mine by entering the same area from every possible direction, and then blew it up using maths to determine its location.

@@tdofducksplays He also put it on direct lines between systems he knows are going to see traffic (like the direct line between a base he's going to attack and the neighbouring rebel friendly systems), but a random distance out from the systems so there's no way to actually find them consistently. They do point out the downside of it in the novel - the mines are incredibly expensive since they need a miniaturized hypercom, one-shot gravwell generator and one-shot emp generator.

501st Journal Week 254 - Zeltros Sgt. Kale Clayson "Closing the gap" The rebels in the Mid-Rim have been trapped, destroyed, and now will face the retribution so long in the making. The Manaan Gambit as the Holonet has dubbed it has payed off greatly. Grand Admiral Star's strategy was perfect. After we had finally secured Manaan, Death Squadron moved to close the gap at Zeltros, and to ensure that none of the partisans from Onderon could attempt to break our encirclement we hit them as well. With a full encirclement Star led us to Commonor. Here however the rebels decided to make a stand. Trapped and surrounded, the rebel Admiral Cress, who thanks to ISB was identified as the leader of the rebel fleet over Commonor, made us pay. Understanding the limitations of our forces, Cress had gathered several ships from the Mid-Rim and organized a stronger fleet. Agent Goodman believed that his plan was to catch Star off guard and force us to retreat. Allowing him to break out much more easily. What he didn't count on was our resolve. The battle was the bloodiest ship to ship fight since the battle to destroy the rogue Warlord. The rebels had brought in several Mon calamari vessels with ion technology. No doubt stolen from the research center on Ord Vaug. They had taken a position in the rear of the enemy formation and were wreaking havoc on the fleet. Grand Admiral Star, in an attempt to out-flank the rebels, used his interdictor to strategically drop a wing of VSDs behind the rebel fleet. Once that happened the fate of the rebels was sealed. With the rebels trapped the fleet was destroyed, but it was a costly victory. Death Squadron lost two ISDs, a battle cruiser, a VSD, and a number of support ships. Thankfully Kuat was generous with its reinforcements and sent us support immediately. Cress was forced to flee with his remaining fighter squadrons when his flagship was destroyed. Not wishing to waste the lives spent for victory, Star ordered us to gather at Zeltros. Now it's the 501st's turn to finish the job. We're more than ready.

About your micro black hole mines, the Second Death star was powered by a micro black hole reactor. That is why when they blew up the control towers it released the containment fields and actually IMPLODED the death star above Endor. Part of the reason why Endor wasn't destroyed when the death star remains crashed on the moon is because the inner layers of the space station were actually sucked into the collapsing singularity. (this was all part of the old legends canon so take what you want from it.)

Nebula disrupts missile guidance and ship 'active' abilities, like pursuit, power to weapons, power to engines, etc. The other thing is Ion storm, which causes damage to shields, but powers up weapons making them shoot faster and deal more damage. When using basic tie fighters, if ever possible, have them fight in Ion storms. Since ties don't have shields they don't suffer, and the enemy weapons being powered up also doesn't matter because ties die in 1 or 2 shots anyways, whereas stripping the shields off an X-wing and making your ties hit harder drastically shifts the balance of power in the fight. Likewise, ties don't use missiles, so if you're fighting against strike fighters that use cluster rockets or concussion missiles to wipe out enemies in an alpha strike, forcing those to miss is also really helpful.

Although the space battle over Commenor was interesting, I feel it could have gone a lot faster and easier if you hadn't wasted those orbital cannon's shots on the MC80, but focused instead on the MC60s and other support vessels first. Un-ioned, your ISDs could have melted the MC80 like butter with their usual damage output.

Black Squadron log: The hunt. That's how I describe what just happened. We attacked the Rebels at Zeltros and eliminated them with few casualties. We took out at least 20 X-Wings ourselves. With then continued Onderon. The home of Saw Gerrera himself. There too we took almost no casualties and eliminated all rebels we could. Then the hard part came. Commenor. The enemy had many carriers and artillery disablers, our ships were forced to operate at half strength because that. We suffered heavy loses, two whole imperial II included, but in the end, we did it. The enemy was destroyed and the blockade over the planet was broken. We took out at least 40 X-Wings. No matter what else they have, we shall continue to hunt them down, till all the galaxy is clean from them. Log ends. Daree: *sigh* Here, I did it. Sülker: That was a bit... heated. Daree: After Antramenta? That was the least I could express how I feel! Sülker: Okay, okay, let's not let emotions overrule our rational thinking. Daree: YOU, didn't just say that... low blow? Sülker: Yes! Melnorige: Where's Z and J when you need them? Dareed: Trying to find a way to display how many pilots they have taken out, on their TIEs. Sülker: A hard couple of weeks for sure.

Ironically I was playing X4: SW Interworlds while I was watching this video! The mod's in pretty good shape now from what I've seen, updated for all current expansions and even with additional mods I haven't run into any problems so far. There's even a submod that adds gigantic ships like the Eclipse, all 3 Mandator classes and a ton more!

The micro singularity is also in Star Wars Legends/Expanded Universe. Dovin Basals (Yuzzhan Vong) used micro singularities for their shields and propulsion.

Shack, if I remember correctly, when selecting reinforcements you can actually have them pointing in the direction you want them to appear from hyperspace. This way you don’t have to wait for the ships to turn around. So if you want a ship to come in behind and enemy ship but facing the bow towards the enemy ship, you hold down one of the mouse buttons and it will change the direction your ships are pointing. It’s similar to how you change the angle of the camera on the map.

Field Agent Log: Maj. [ERROR: Unauthorized Clearance] Imperial Intelligence Agent “Harbinger” It seems that Stars plan worked flawlessly. After securing Manaan, Death Squadron moved in on Zeltros and Onderon. It feels strange being this close to home. However, we merely secured the planets orbit to ensure none of the Partisans would be an issue. With the first phase of his plan complete, and Commenor encircled, Star moved Death Squadron to the site of many bloody battles. This day would be no exception. What ensued was likely the bloodiest fleet to fleet battle I have ever seen. The rebel Admiral that caused such losses was identified as Admiral Davon Cress. Cress understood the limitations of the Empires ships well, almost too well. He also knew Death Squadrons weaknesses as well. The one factor he couldn’t calculate was Grand Admiral Stars genius and the fleets resolve. The enemy fleet had multiple Mon Calamari ships in the rear of its formation, laden with ion technology. These weapons were wrecking havoc on our ships, however, Star had a plan. Using an interdictor Star dropped a group of VSDs behind their lines. With this flanking maneuver, the rebels and Admiral Cress were forced to flee with what remained of their forces. Now, the fleet gathers at Zeltros to clear out these rebel worlds once and for all. Agent Harbinger, signing off. [END OF LOG]

Spectre, Crimson, and Dagger squadrons drop from hyperspace alongside a larger than normal convoy. In the hanger Harbinger and his squad watch as the Pulsar detaches from the Darkstar to make room for a cargo transport. Techs and crew patiently wait for the large loading door to open and the cargo to be unloaded. Surprising to Harbinger and the others is the fact that on the side of all the crates, the logo of the Imperial Bioweapons Division is present. More surprising, as well as concerning, is the overall lack of proper security and secrecy one would expect for an Imperial Bioweapons Division shipment. At the same time all throughout the fleet more ships dock and unload similar crates. A nearby tech in charge taps his datapad and nods) Tech: "All good here. Take it away." (The large crates are loaded onto a hover sled and taken away into the ship.) Tech: "Bring out the next batch!" (As the next batch are unloaded and put onto sleds, one of the crates is dropped a little too roughly by one of the crew.) Tech: "Easy! I don't want to be responsible for anything broken. Understand?" Crew: "Yes sir..." [Imperial Bioweapons Division?!]

Goodman: "Ah leave the poor guy alone Harr! He's just doing his job." (Goodman saunters over with his usual trademark smile.) "Don't worry about what's in these crates. I'm sure it's harmless..." (Goodman leans against a stack of crates on one of the hover sleds. His weight proves too much and he accidentally pushes one off where it tilts down at an angle and hits the floor with a loud clang. The tech's eyes go wide) Tech: "Agent, please! This stuff can be delicate and can't afford to be damaged." (Goodman smirks widely) Goodman: "Oh I'm sure it's fine. You just get back to work and if anybody else tries to ask you what it is, just say it's classified by ISB. Whatever it is..." Tech: "B-but it's-" Goodman: "Don't argue. Just do your job." (The tech sighs) Tech: "Yes sir. Come on, let's get this stuff out of the hanger." (The tech and the crew begin moving the cargo towards the hanger exits. Goodman looks back at Harbinger, his teasing smirk still present. He shrugs innocently.) Goodman: "Oops. At least it didn't leak anything, like some kind ooofff... Force sensitive.. airborne virus.. that turns people into ranvous.. flesh hungry.. monsters, right?" (Goodman speaks slowly as he tries to come up with the most ridiculous sounding thing he can. Finishing with a smirk.) [That sounds familiar... If you want you can have Roland and Valencia notice the crates being moved through the halls. Mutiny?! Yes ISB Agent Goodman, these guys right here.]

A platoon of Rifles already wait for the ship, their weapons armed. As the ramp lowers, a tech like the one on the Darkstar makes his way down. Barnes, head of Fourth Platoon, stares wide-eyed as he sees the Bioweapons patch on the tech's uniform.) Barnes*: Bio protocol! (One of the Rifles runs over and slams his fist against a red button on the wall, a klaxon soon sounding throughout the Huntress, the vents all snapping shut. A crewman on the Darkstar's bridge notices the alert on his console. Aboard the Huntress, Valencia walks into the hangar, wearing a helmet that fully covers her head, with a large transparent panel over her face. A pair of tubes connect to either side of her helmet, connected to air tanks. She storms over to the tech, holding her hand out to him.) Valencia: Your ship's manifest. Now. [I can think of several reasons why there would be a shipment from the Bioweapons division, none of them good. Valencia is at least not taking chances with an unannounced arrival from them. Also, her helmet is sealed, so nothing can get in or out. Also, wifi at my place seems to have crashed, so what I typed on my laptop wouldn't have gone through anyway. This is a replacement for it, and will probably not ruin what you have in mind.]

Imp Rep 74 - The Rebel forces near the core have certainly dug themselves in so far as fleet sizes have been concerned. Some of the advances by the Core Defense Fleet have likely dealt with some of those regional manufacturing centers and has also marked their desire to gain worlds such as Commenor and Kuat. We cannot be certain what bases they have in the region, but those they have... HAVE been strong enough to build decent ships, as the Core Defense Fleet found out as it engaged the Rebels over Commenor. Casualty reports from the battle indicate that the fleet suffered extremely heavy losses, and the Core Defense Fleet is now little more than a squadron of ships... But for the moment, with the heavy losses the Rebellion suffered, what remains should do fine until Kuat can replace the losses incurred over Commenor. In the core it will give the army time to move the front line forward to assure that Commenor and Kuat will be safe from further attack. All that remains will be for Kuat to begin producing new ships. In the NE part of the galaxy though, the military panic seems to remain in place as the Admiral commanding the Executor Class Star Dreadnought has continued to pull rank and preventing Captain Pelleaon's forces from moving on to Rhen Var. ISB reports indicate that the admiral has a relatively solid plan in wanting to restore the main line of communication between Coruscant and the new possessions in the Corporate Sector, rather than relying on the slower back-way hyper-lanes. However, the plan has also continued to move Pellaeon's fleet, which will serve to protect Mandalore by providing depth and leaving the Star Dreadnought at Mandalore itself. Fuel engineers report to me that many of these larger ships have a lot of fuel consumption that requires a near fleet of tenders to supply, making these star dreadnoughts difficult to use as the primary attack forces on rapid movements... as they will often be slower than other ships. It strikes me as "reasonable" that such ships would play a more defensive roles than other ships, but this is still a point where this admiral should remember that these ships are built to be used. Mandalore is no longer the front line and could have been moved up to Concord Dawn if it was to be kept in the defensive role... or to support at least regional attacks to allow ground forces to advance the line along with what the admiral on this dreadnought has laid out for Captain Pellaeon. In this, this admiral is sitting with a large force that can strike in multiple directions and yet is not doing so and leaving the most powerful asset in a rear area that is no longer under threat. - Secretary Boss Mann, ISB, Coruscant

Number of Episodes without Rescuing Vader: 3 Tonight on Imperial Galactic News: Battle over Commenor. After cutting off the Traitorous Rebels from all standard Hyper-lane escape routes, Imperial forces engaged The rebel fleet in a fierce battle over Commenor. The fight was costly with several Capital Ships having been lost in the all out battle. Most of the Ships upper crewmen managed to make it to the escape pods, but most of the crew did perish thanks to the merciless rebel onslaught proving yet again that their talks of fairness and a better Federation are all hotair. However The Rebel Forces were slaughtered to the last ship, save a few minor ships able to engage hyperspace, running like the cowards they are. The Imperial Navy now seeks new men, and some women to fill the ranks of those lost and serve a higher cause. With the Rebels beaten back,. and the Core once more Safe, Moff Shed has continues his campaign in the North earning high praise from the Imperial Palace, and eyewitnesses confirm one nod of the head from the Emperor himself... what a lucky man. Up next: Veers, Beers, or Gears: Why some people debate the Generals name, and how even his weighing in, seems to not deter those who think differently. Would you like to know more?

Half a year later, Shack discovers that Hapes can build special ships. :-P And yes, if you get it to level 3, you CAN build Battle Dragons. And I think Battle Dragons are your style (very little movement micro). Just make sure you understand what their special ability does, because it can save your butt. Maybe in the future, you will discover that you can build Tibanna Gas Mines on Yavin. :-P BTW I saw two other corrupted planets you might need to clear if you want to finish that mission.

Shack using the planetary turbo laser like a rebebel ion cannon disturbs me. Please use victory 2's and other anti-shield ships to take away the rebebel's biggest advantage and then 1-2 shot them with the planetary turbo. Seriously, with the mc-80 shields down one shot from the planetary turbo takes out like 2/3 of its health and has the potential to destroy a few sub systems. Or with ships like quaesars or the rebebel ion/disabler artillery ships it can often one shot those at full health and shields.

Those mines your tabletop players have encountered are called Interdictor mines. They were introduced IRL as far back as 1994 as pulse mass mines by the Hapes Consortium in the book “Courtship of Princess Leia.” The Empire primarily used them against illegal spacers in the Deep Core but they started to become more widely spread post-Endor. In Awakenjng of the Rebellion, if you fully upgrade the yards at the Hapan capital planet, you can build several types of Hapan ships. This includes the Hapan Battle Dragon which can deploy pulse mines as a form of stun cluster bomb that inflicts a form of ion damage on any enemy ships that they hit, as well as prevents said ships from retreating As for the plot-points that you say you’ve done in your game but then see in Star Wars canon afterwards, could you elaborate? Cause I have a feeling that you’re just copying stuff from Star Wars Legends and not knowing it. Quite a bit of canon has been derived from Legends

@49:03 Shack made the mistake of selling everything and hitting auto resolve he should have hit the begin button hitting this button does not que up an auto resolve. You can sell everything on the ground and I recommend you do so it's credits back to you. Just make sure you hit the begin button it's a very easy bug to avoid.

I think that you should go and take Mimban, it would make it a lot harder for the Rebels to push back into the mid rim from the Kamino sector.

Captain's Log Orbit of Zeltros Week 258 We've secured the Mid Rim from the Rebel invasion. Sadly, it cost us much of our fleet. The fleet at Commenor refused to come back and prevent themselves from being cut off at Zeltros. So, Star led the fleet against them. Most of the capital ships of the fleet are gone. The Rebels had too many Mon Cal cruisers for the ISDs to really handle when they were dealing with assault ships and Quaesars. In other news, Onderon is also blockaded. And the worlds of Conntrum and Lantilles are blockaded as well. We are finally pushing back against the enemy. We're waiting for the green light to begin the landing on Zeltros. The rebels have a small section cordoned off to themselves, likely to keep all of the pheromones from affecting them.
