quick tip: farmhouses are much more efficient when you have one designated planting farmhouse set to "prioritize planting" and have the rest set to "prioritize harvesting", you'll get 3x the yield from the same number of farmhouses because the planters don't need to go back to the farmhouse to deposit anything and the harvesters can spend less time gathering completed crops, the best part about this strategy is that you can build just 2 farmhouses and that can get you all the way to double the starting population (or triple if you play your cards right)

2 iron teeth farmhouses with 1 planter and 2 gatherers can efficiently farm a ca 11x11 field of kolrabis. so 1 farmhouse with 2 planters can roughly support 2 (maybe 3) gathering farmhouses.

Badwater used to flow during draughts, but the devs made it obey draught mechanics. Makes sense, since it’s only ”extract” mixed with water and if there is no water, there is not enough flow to it. Anyway, badwaterpowered industry is still possible thanks to the seal you put on the badwatersource. It has the option to keep it flowing even during draughts.

It's been a while since I've played, but I think the bad water source cap for the Iron Teeth tribe can force the bad water to flow even in droughts. Also, RCE needs to make sure he has plenty of fresh water stored up. There's a bad water season in which it flows from the fresh water sources as well as bad water sources. And since bad water contaminates the land around it, it can kill your crops if they're too close. It can really screw up your game if you're not prepared for it.

This is because you need a way to release the badwater if there's a badtide since it will contaminate that water supply forever if you can't flush it out. 14:40 Your beavers can't build that water wheel unless it gets built before the building. While the brown water is probably there to denote irradiated water that's unsafe to drink/be in, it'd be interesting if they added waste management into the game, especially if they did it medieval style. After all, collecting and processing poo (or "night soil" or "night leavings" as they called it) really was one of the ways they initially got the nitrates needed for early gunpowder/explosives -- with it *being illegal* in some areas to throw it out rather than let it be collected. And that's not even mentioning what it could do for fertilizer for the beavers' crops. They could have the beavers poo everywhere (causing a health negative), if they don't have proper restrooms, have public toilets you could put in to help centralize and improve things, even include poo storage as part of the housing you build (giving you another reason to build them early, so beavers could poo there and not have the negative). But those would only be a temporary measure, because they would fill up. Destroying them so you could replace them with an "empty" restroom would only have the effect of having the building be replaced by a large pile of poo (giving a negative modifier), that'd have to be removed by the collectors before you can build there again (it'd be both funny and useful if you could prioritize specific poo/buildings for them, lol). One of the early jobs could be unlocked by a building that'd employ specific workers who're in charge of collecting poo (with them personally getting a negative unless they have access to showers/'wet fur' to clean themselves) and moving it to a storage facility, or something that'd dump it into the river (causing pollution downstream). Later tech could use poo as a resource, with one building able to process it into fertilizer (which farmers could use to increase the yield of crops), or nitrates (the nitrates are then used in the explosive factory -- so instead of just requiring paper, it'd now require paper and nitrates). When you're at that level of infrastructure though, you'll no doubt have so many beavers that I doubt you'd ever not have a problem when it comes to dealing with poo, so it'd be a mechanic you'd have to keep up with the entire time -- at least until robots replace everyone. XD

@stevecole90099
@stevecole90099 Жыл бұрын
Those logs are way too valuable early game to be wasted on housing for IronTeeth. For Folktails its a bit more important for the re-population but that doesn't matter for IronTeeth. The most important part is getting a tree farm going as you run out of logs very quick on most maps and good food supply/storage. The badwater has a devastating effect on both tree and food farms so I don't think this season is going to last too long knowing how Matt normally plays.
@candramaputra7344

@@stevecole90099 But no shelter punishes you with -3 happiness which would become +1 with shelter. So, it will be additional of +4 happiness to beavers with shelter. CMIIW, the total happiness after that should be enough for beavers to have 2 additional buffs (production speed & walking speed)
@stevecole90099
@stevecole90099 Жыл бұрын
@@candramaputra7344 The first buff happens at +2 with 5% movement. The second at +5 with 5%/10% Growth/Work speed. That 5% movement speed shouldn't have any impact early game as everything should be right next to the center for the most part. The work speed could help a bit but its not going to matter unless you can keep your beavers all working 100% of the time during working hours. Oak trees, the best ones to plant for farming logs, take 30 days to grow. The sooner you get them going the better. Once they are planted you got 30 days to spend getting science and happiness as you ain't doing anything else once the natural trees are gone except stockpiling. Having negative happiness has no debuffs so its better to exploit that while you can. For IronTeeth, I increase working hours and hold off on shelter until I have trees growing and could survive a 10 day drought with around 30 beavers, which should be around 700-1000 stored food and water each. Two water pumps and two farms with around 150 fields should be more than enough to support a population of 30. 1 block high dammed water should keep the surrounding area green for 10-11 days. Once I reach this goal then I build shelter and hopefully have enough science to unlock the Shrub, Lantern, Scarecrow, Beaver Statue, and Roof to place on top of them. This should shoot the happiness up past 11 at the least which nets a 20% buff to both work and life which makes a decent difference in how well the colony grows and works. After that its time to focus on stopping the badtides from killing your trees and plants then its mostly safe to just focus on expansion and increasing stockpiles.

There is a new thing where all the water sometimes turns to badwater, poisoning the ground and killing crops, so you now need to plan to divert all water away from your storage areas with floodgates. Some general points, (i'm only about a quarter of the way in): 1. whilst it varies a bit with difficulty 1 water pump can support a dozen or more beavers. It just needs some storage and a day or two for that to equalise. So going to 2 pumps right at the start was really unnecessary. 2. The logs per hour of lumberjacks on various trees and your starting wood needs are such that building more than 1 lumberjack per forest area the size of the one you started on is not generally a good idea. 1 Lumberjack can service so many trees and bring in so much wood per day. I actually posted a useful mathed out set of values season before last. In fact i generally find that 2 i sufficient till i hit mega industry levels. 3. General prioritisation guide: Farnmhouses, Hydroponic Farms, Gatherer Flags, and Water pumps should allways be on maximum, (+2), priority, nothing else ever should be. Foresters, food factories, fermenters, and any other food or water related buildings should be on +1 priority. Lumberjacks, Scrap harvesters, Builders, plank factories, and gear factories Haulers should be on -1 priority Science except very early on should be lowest priority. Construction priority and job priority are seperate. Cassavas are worse per tile of area than Kohlrabies. The next one along, (name escapes me) is better even with the oil it needs, but not by much, you have to get into food factory recipes before you get something vastly better than Kohlrabies, thats the downside of ironteeth, their food sucks till you get metal unlocked.

The one you can't remember is soybeans, and while it still requires relatively the same amount of space as kohlrabies, it requires way fewer farmers because of the long growth times (roughly halved, even accounting for having someone run a fermenter and oil press)
