they're actually disciples of death, so is the whale itself: Python(White Snake) was once surpressed under a high tower, guarding her love in solitude until the end of time. Butterfly(Emperor Moth) die at the moment of reproduction, but spend their life moving mountains to offer future to their children. Mammoth carried the polar paradise to the other side and fell at dawn when the glaciers melted. Turtle(Endless Land Turtle) rotates the entire fabric of reality with all his might, dedicating his energy to one thing. Griffon promised to protect the people and glory of a kingdom with his life, never forgetting it even when the kingdom collapsed, until eternity. Everlasting Falling Whale is also a disciple, i dont know about the real death god itself but its probably the desperation and yes i took it from homeward journey discord, still official though

Graze means you will have a smaller hitbox, and the attacks will graze the avatar, basically like touhou. Its what they do for every bullet hell game

In Deltarune, as well as Fargo's Mod, they have mechanics that reward grazing bullets. In Deltarune it fills the gauge you use for magic, and in Fargo, it fills a special attack gauge with the Nekomi armor

I'm a bit late to the comment table here, but you should read up on the concept of "Whalefall", which is the phenomenon where a whale dies and its carcass sinks to the deep ocean floor, supporting a new localized ecosystem for up to several decades. The desperation phase at the end (the bit with the timed fish barrage survival), could be intended to be evocative of this, as you're fighting the corpse of a whale, and when it dies (or rather, "falls"), it leads to new life springing up in its wake. I do believe another comment pointed out the connotation between the "blasphemy against death" theme and the multitude of extinct animals and non-implemented enemies at the start of the fight.

For me, this boss was like one of the hardest that I’ve ever fought, because like only one of his projectile can inflict debuff that kills you nearly instant. I felt like I was fighting SAA Zero Protocol, that need big skill in dodging. Still homeward journey is a top mod, with best slime boss

Grazing sounds like it's a Deltarune reference. Think of it like Grazing a bullet. Like dodging but you intentionally get closer to barely dodge a shot. Not sure if the mechanic in the mod is like this though.

It has it's own abyss and can destroy calamity abyss if it generates at the same sea, also the wall of shadows structure Will be generated at the hell And with fargo souls will not generate the lifebringer's worm phase on Master mode, so it's almost impossible to kill on master mode
