Great reaction David! A good movie with Michael Douglas , released in 79 is The China Syndrome, about safety issues with a nuclear power plant, the film also stars Jack Lemon, who you may remember from Grumpy Old Men. Fun fact , The China Syndrome was released in March of 79, and then two weeks later there was a partial nuclear melt down at a nuclear power plant in Pennslyvania . That disaster gave the movie a huge publicity boost.

Genevieve Bujold was in a movie you recently reviewed, Earthquake (1974). She played Charlton Heston’s mistress, her hair was longer. The guy in the lab with the brain slicer that you recognized was Ed Harris from the Westworld tv show, The Abyss, etc…

Fun fact: Genevieve Bujold was originally cast as Janeway in Star Trek Voyager but she lasted about 2 days before she was replaced by Kate Mulgrew as she didn't seem to fit the part
@porflepopnecker437620 күн бұрын
And also she didn't seem to be able to get used to the difference between shooting a movie and a TV episode.

She was also in Last Tango in Paris with Marlon Brando. Butter anyone?
@joshfacio937920 күн бұрын
Ive seen the vids. Shes too soft in her delivery and its hard to understand that or maybe its a slight accent even tho i can understand her here fine. Add into her words didnt have any weight and the technobabble wasnt delivered right. She seemed tired which tracks with her not accustomed or liking the long shooting schedules. All in all we got the right janeway!

You might want to see the disaster film _Dante's Peak_ with Linda Hamilton & Pierce Brosnan. Michael Crichton also created _ER_ and wrote _Jurassic Park._ When you saw Geneviève Bujold in _Earthquake,_ you commented on her accent. The dead bodies in _Poltergeist_ were real.

Funny what you DIDN'T mention that I thought was a great touch to this film: You obviously didn't notice that the first scored music doesn't show up until 49 minutes into the film. I think that was a great way of throwing breadcrumbs to the audience that "just wait, we're almost at the GOOD stuff". I think as a thriller this movie holds up beautifully.

Another good Michael Crichton Movie. I like Geneviéve Bujold as early Action Heroine. Coma has a great Cast and many suspensful Scenes. The short Avantgarde Score by Jerry Goldsmith is as always in the 70s very effektive. Thanks for watching another of my favorite 70s Movies.

I love your channel and how you react to movies that are overlooked. I just have a small recommendation, Night of the Comet. It's a 80s cult classic. The 2 main characters spun off Buffy the Vampire killer, and Lollipop Chainsaw, the cheerleader that takes out zombies. It's ultra low budget, they filmed outdoor scenes on Christmas morning when the streets were empty. It's a great story and a lot of fun.

Uhh, don't remember Geneviève Bujold? Earthquake, Charlton Heston's side girl, remember now. She's been in a few movies, Brian DePalma's very obscure movie Obsession for one. She almost became Capt. Janeway for the Star Trek series Voyager but it didn't work out. They even filmed some with her playing said Capt. you can find on KZbin. She never got used to the schedule of making a series vs movie hence she was replaced by Kate Mulgrew Now Michael Crichton, he did a few movies but one standout was a movie called Looker (1981) which was excellent and another underrated gem with Albert Finney and James Coburn. Then, there's Runaway (1984), with Tom Selleck as the star this time about Robots.
