hey Chris, another great video! Nothing is caught here anymore, the ditches have grown over with plants and the water is very brown, you can't see anything anymore, it is very hot so that everything is very difficult, very unfortunate and frustrating! Tomorrow I will take the boat with my fishing buddy to a larger lake, otherwise there is hardly anything to catch. I saw that the water in the UK looks nice and clear! Nice video , till te next one 👍

I have had great luck with the smallest X-Rap, XR04. Rainbow and Tiger trout both love it. Yellow perch here as well. Not sure if you have tried them out. I too talk to myself while fishing...lol Awesome video. Tight lines.

The issue with changing to single hooks is it sometimes changes the action of the lure. Using bigger singles (same weight as the trebles) can fix that, and also improve hookup. Imo you have to go several sizes up rather than use the same size as the trebles
@skateboardingjesus40063 жыл бұрын
That definitely improves the hook-up rate. I use in line singles with the same gape distance (point to shank) as the trebles. On small crank baits also, the wobble is marginally better with singles.

I have been modifying my lures for a while now, last year I had a bumper year with single hooks, but I had to learn to play the fish in a different way. It takes time, inevitably during the process you will lose a few fish to start, but finally it is worth it, as we should always think about the welfare of the fish.

Great video. Just wanted to mention that you seemed to retrieve the popper really fast like a wake bait almost. You may want to slow down your retrieve and jerk the popper so it makes a “bloop” sound. Cheers!

I put some regular hooks on a lure after the treble broke, and it totally changed the fishing. Better to just cut a hook off the treble and have 2 if you want less hassle I think.
@BMW.e46.Carplay3 жыл бұрын
Its better for releasing and hooking em in the scissor. But for big Pikefishing i always use full trebles
@richnfamous593 жыл бұрын
those are really nice fish from that tiny stream. as for the effect of singles on the lure action: does it catch fish? btw: I wear rubber beach shoes when I'm wading. less hassle than flip-flops

I find we in the US, and again regionally, seem to have different lures offered and there are gaps in the market in most situations. Heddon Teeny Torpedo, 1 1/2" 1/8 oz. prop bait is good, Rebel Crickhopper. I think the Zara Spook slide or dog walk is more the trout speed than a popper. If you can get someone to tie a deer hair mouse pattern that is heavy enough for spinning gear and floats, take it to a river with big trout. The limiting factor is the bank area where terrestrial food might be. Cranks, spoons, jigs and spinners cover the entire body of water. Nice. I'm mildly jealous, but you are nowhere near my area. Enjoy.

Hi Chris,what kind of rod did you use,if i may ask,,thanks
@pr0faker3 жыл бұрын
You really oughta remove one or both trebles, they are just not good for trout when you want to release them. One treble is already more than enough.

I imagine trout are more interested in top water lures when the water surface is just eight inches above the creek bottom.

Good bit of filming and some lovely fish too. You swopped out the trebles for single micro barb on the popper, but the new one out of the box?? Was just wondering why, having a pair of pliers you did not squash the barbs down ?? Hope you don't mind, just a thought. Virtualy all my lures have flattened barbs, both salt and fresh water. All the best, Les.

Yo you are fishing for WILD BROWN TROUT like they are PIKE . These fish are very delicate . Remember when you started pike fishing ?. The TROUTS SCISSORS are as delicate as the pikes gill rakers they are easily damaged and they need to rest . we are watching this like you would watch someone that had just started pike fishing This is not criticism it is constructive criticism All The very best to you and yours Please catch some more trout

The single hooks were both fitted incorrectly, they should of been the other way around. The belly hook has very little chance of hooking a fish in that position, pretty weedless though!

Geez, if you bring the fish in any faster you will strip the flesh of the fish and just bring in the bones.
