🤬Sony blocked this video and the audio of the song was removed. This is so annoying because there are lots of channels that have this same video but ours was singled out. 18 and Life by Skid Row. The first time we did this song with the first co-host but it got blocked so we are rolling the dice and trying again with Alexis. Burch tells the story of how he remembers exactly where he was when he first heard the song.

I know exactly where I was when I first heard this song. It was April 10, 1989, Wichita, KS, the Kansas Coliseum, about 10 feet from the stage. I had no idea who Skid Row was going into the night. Turned out once I heard them playing that I had heard one of their songs, "I Remember You" on the radio a few times but had no idea who sang it. Withing 30 seconds of Sebastian unleashing his voice on an unsuspecting crowd, I knew I was going to the record store the next afternoon. (I sure miss those record stores.) My sister was also at the show, and she tagged along with me to the store the next day, but she headed for the Sebastian Bach poster, while I got the album. Their first two albums are still amongst my favorites of all time. And they are tied with Damn Yankees for the best opening acts I've seen in the 60-70 concerts I've been to. And both bands are in my top five for best sounding live performance.

Funny how certain songs or albums can bring back a flood of memories I Still remember the first time I heard the album destroyer by KISS, I was nine years old (1977) and my brother wanted to talk to my parents. (We were visiting him. He’s 12 years older.) he put the headphones on me and from the opening to Detroit rock city, and looking at the image of the destroyer cover I was blown away! Been in the KISS Army since 🤘😈

I remember Layla by Derik and the Dominos. 6 people in a chevy Corvair, going around a mountain corner too fast. We hit gravel, flew off the side of the mountain, flipped at least 3 times in the air and cleared a barbwire fence, hit a tree and landed in a small creek wheels down, and the transmission broke and the motor is still running, and that song was blasting. I get chills every time i hear that song, 45 years later.

For me it was "You give love a bad Name" by Bon Jovi. I was 11 in 1986 hanging outside with the neighborhood kids. Someone with a walkman had the radio on. We all sat close to hear his headphones. The station had just finished playing "Somewhere Out There" (a song on animated movie American Tail) and then that lyric kicked in "Shot through the heart and you're too blame" and we were laughing and all into it. =)

I saw Skid Row at Wembley Stadium supporting Guns n Roses 31/8/91 and ohhhh boy can Sebastian Bach sing live! His voice filled that massive football stadium filled with 81000 of us screaming nutters like it was a little rock club. They were BRILLIANT that day and if anyone wants to see it the Skid Row set is on YT somewhere. PLEASE check out Monkey Business and/or Slave To The Grind from their second album where they absolutely shifted up a gear or three and rocked HARD!

I remember the first time I heard 'Smokin' in the Boys Room' by Motley Crue, I was maybe 13... on summer vacation at my grandparents house. I was bored to death and just listening to an old transistor radio and bang.... this song came on. Never heard anything like it before and just like that... I was immediately inducted into the Rock N Roll fan club and forever corrupted 😂. Hey Burch... I learned to drive and got my first license driving my parents blue Aries K car. I remember the blue paint would rub right off and onto your hands... and it was a brand new car. Yes, it was a crappy car but that didnt matter at the time.

Me and all my head bangin buddies had this tape. Great reaction! I remember where I was on many different songs: November Rain at my brother's apt. Stairway To Heaven in my brother's car. Cum On Feel the Noise by Quiet Riot in the street at my neighbor's house. Alone by Heart in my basement, Welcome To The Jungle in my living room watching MTV. Keep On Loving You at the skating rink. I could prob think of several more if took more time to think about it.

Can only think of one song that I remember the exact moment I heard it for the first time. My college roommate and I were just chillin' in our dorm room listening to a local rock station, and the opening riff of "Thunderstruck" started playing. Like you Burch, I remember exactly where I was when I heard this song. At the time, I was stationed at Wildflecken, Germany. I was an MP in the Army. A Staff Sergeant in our unit had shot his wife (she survived) and then shot himself in the stomach. He was sent to the Army hospital in Frankfurt, GE. A few of the MPs in our unit were sent up there to guard him as there is not really a secure ward at the hospital. During my off hours, I'd look around for some great places to eat. The owner of the guest house where we're staying mentioned this Italian place, as he was Italian himself, just down the street. He recommended their lasagna - which to this day is the standard by which I measure any lasagna dish, it was that good. Anyway, this place had a dance floor and TVs mounted up in the walls. It was kind of weird to me. But apparently in the evenings and weekends people would come in and order pizza or whatever, have some drinks and dance. Like I said I ordered lasagna. They happened to have the European version of MTV going at the time which was cool. I'd never seen it the entire time I'd been there and had been there almost three years by this point. So, Skid Row's "Eighteen and Life" comes on. As a musician myself and still a very young man I knew how good this song was. I would later go on to buy that album, of course. So yeah, I took recall where I was when I first heard this.

one song I remember the exact moment and location i first heard it was Hearts on Fire by Bryan Adams. I was out camping and on the last day right as we were closing the extended walls of the trailer and the radio was still playing but the volume was so low I could barely hear it, the only words i caught were hearts on fire. I wrote down those words so i don't forget about it, and for weeks I searched online and nothing showed up. I didn't know it was Bryan Adams until later. I searched on KZbin but nothing, and even iTunes showed the exact same results as KZbin. But one artist showed up on iTunes which didn't show up on KZbin which was Bryan Adams. When I added his name to the search terms I found it and still love the song.

My friend was hanging out with some older kids of ill repute. They were in the attic messing with a gun and the story was they were grabbing for the gun and it went off. Many believed the actual story was similar to this video. Something I'll never forget.

The most vivid memorie of a first time are: "what's love got to do with it", "Dream on" (Aerosmith) and Layla (on the same "rock anthems" album), "Creeping Death" (Metallica), "Blood of my enemies" (Manowar), "Young girls" (Earthshaker), "Hey you" (Pink Floyd), "Youth gone wild" (came to my ears before "18 and life"). And "Wind of change" - that one actually made me sit down on the sidewalk's grassbed and weep. For "In the Ghetto" and "Don't cry Daddy" (you gotta do this one) I was fortunately at home.

I also have that type of memory when it comes to smells and music. For example one of the songs I remember is You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi. I was watching MTV, top 20 program and it came on, hearing something heavier than the pop that dominated the charts, the cool video made me a Bon Jovi fan right away till today. I was at a family friends house alone in the media room, my family had moved to another city and I was there till my school term ended. The next day obviously the video was going to be at the top 20 so I set up a boom box with some cables from the speaker jack of the TV and taped it. Anyway, that's my story.

I got my drivers license in September, bought my first car in October then bought this cassette in November from the record store on a whim, never having heard this band before in my life. I just remembered seeing this tape and loving the album artwork for months prior. I remember the exact moment I heard Metallica for the first time. Had just moved to Texas from Seattle, I was 5 years old, and one of my uncles came to visit. Not sure what the original topic was or how it unfolded but my dad and uncle were going to CompUSA (that's how long ago this was). I wanted to go, hang out with the dudes, instead of being stuck at home with my mom and sister. We get there and it's closed because this was maybe 9 or 10 at night. We're sitting in the car in the parking lot and they're trying to figure out what to do/where to go for whatever reason. My dad asks him if he wants to listen to a CD and pulls out his big ass zip binder full of CDs and starts listing off bands/artists. The only name that stuck in my head was "Metallica". So, I sat in the back of the car just saying "Metallica, Metallica. Play Metallica" even though I had absolutely no idea what it was (even though I had probably already heard it). They finally gave in to my annoyance. Album was Ride the Lightning...opening with Fight Fire with Fire and thing going into Ride the Lightning...oh man that changed my life. To this day, it's still my favorite Metallica album and song.

I remember the exact moment a kid with a small boombox turned on Back In Black on the way to school. That is the one song that changed everything about my music taste.

I loved them and this album so much that I got my first bass, grabbed the sheet music for that album, took it home and learned this song by the end of the day. Ricky was a couple years older than me, my parents didn't like me hanging out with the older kids. 😂 Ricky went to jail and missed grunge, that's so sad. Luckily he's still on the inside and not subjected to Megan Thee Stallion and Machine Gun Kelly.

I vividly remember walking in to break room for dinner break at plant I worked at in '88 . a lot of people were already in there. Boom box was playing Radio KGON (Portland) Guns n Roses My Michelle . I was like , Is this new Scorpions ??? Fellow lad said ,no, This is Guns n Roses. Yes my 1st introduction to that band.. Needless to say that is all I saw on MTV after that every time I was at a house that had cable. Oh , No phone booths for Ricky !!! Ha !!!

I have many songs that I can vividly remember when and where I saw them. Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force's debut of I'll See the Light Tonight on MTV is a good one. I was in my TV room after rushing home from school and it was the first song that came on.

I met George Thorogood at a backyard pool party. Talking to him he said "I'm going to be famous soon. This is my last time as just some guy." I thought he was yanking my chain, so I said "Hows that? Are you gonna rob a bank? He smiled and said, "I am not going to tell you because I want to rest today, but (looking dead serious from my eyes to my girl and back) just remember I am George Thorogood and I'm Bad To The Bone." I thought he was strange, but okay, sure. The next weekend I was driving east on 64 to VA Beach with my girl and the DJ says "Here is a new track that is blowing up right now, George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers with Bad To The Bone." I about wrecked my ride as we started bouncing around and cranked up the Rocking Wagon's JVC deck.

Im with ya Burch, I was 17, and I was CONSTANTLY in trouble, I was in the drumline in high school, and I got the whole drumline in the alternative center….I would be in there for dumb stuff, and for things I didn’t even do, my reputation wasn’t good…even tho I was really trying to stay out of trouble, cause I had a great girlfriend.

Sebastian Bach was a amazing singer back then and 18 and Life should have won music video of the year back in 1989.That song and music video is still amazing after all of these years.

Did you miss "Youth Gone Wild"?? That was the first Skid Row video I ever saw. "18 and Life" was a great sophomore release, but was quickly eclipsed by "I Remember You." BTW, Sebastian and Skid Row made G'n'R their bitches when they opened for them in Charlotte in '89/90(?). Axl actually came onstage and said he "wasn't that into it." I remember having paid $25 for my ticket, which was the most I had ever paid up to that point, and thinking, "Well, you'd better GET into it, asshole!" Never had quite the same admiration for Axl after that.

One my favorite bands Harem Scarem I first heard them on the zrock radio summer of 1993 at work, the song was with a little love. But back then we didn't have google to look them up to find more out about them or even the name of the song , so I just remembered there band name for several years and when dial up internet came alive I searched their name and found the song I heard sampling other songs of there's til I found the one I heard and it's name. Also found out they had several other great albums the released.
