Stay safe with your electric scooter. Also what the hell? Why am I convinced that the 3D pop exists? It’s clearly not the bokeh. Why is it not quantifiable? What is it? Is it the lens distortion that’s only found in vintage glass or what?

Cool journey, nice purchase!! That old glass is really nice. I have two Canon FD lenses I really like. One is the 28mm T2.8, the other is 135mm T3.5. I got the 28mm for $30 US and the 135mm for $35. Kasey, I bought a sigma (i know my bad) 17-50 f2.8 ef-s lens with a focus motor that squealed like a greased pig getting some loving from a southener, I stripped it down myself after watching some dodgy YT vids and greased the parts myself, reassembly - IT WORKED - BUT it obviously had one final squeal left before it went silent and functions quickly and quietly to this day.

You should add the canon EF 50mm 1.2 to the list. If you find a good deal on it. Unimpressive corner sharpness wide open but it just adds more 3-d pop.

That was a fun trip, and what a great lens! Might I say, you could take the lens apart and clean it. I had zero experience with that and never thought I'd do it myself.... until I ran into similar situation. Got a Super Takumar with a VERY sticky focus ring... turning the focus ring actually took the lens off the m42 mount!!! So, watched a few YT videos on how to take the lens apart, cleaned it, successfully put it back together .... and... it works now!!! Still a little needy (as something inside was actually deformed, maybe the lens was badly dropped...), but works well since without coming off. I'd say the 35L is likely a LOT more complicated, but as you need not take the internals apart, it is an easy fix doable at home. Even if it's your first project doing that. (Although I'd recommend practicing on a cheap lens for first try.) I have the Sigma ART 35mm and it's my favorite lens of all time. (Yup, that's my favorite focal length, cheers ;). I've been wondering about the Canon L first version, that would have been my other choice, but finally decided on the Sigma. Overall, the Sigma is super sharp and has a totally Leica-feel rendering to it, making it my favorite photo lens. It focuses insanely fast, and turned my 5D classic into a low light beast. (Haha, but kind of true! Total life changer on the 5D both in terms of sharpness, dramatically lower ISO noise floor, focus accuracy and speed.) But I'd love to have the dreamy quality of the 35L, that would be perfect for videos ; ). One day.... sigh

Kasey, I discovered last summer that you can bring a bike on the Go Train that goes straight to Niagara Falls from Union Station (or anywhere along the way) so took my mountain bike. There are a few cars at the end specifically for bicycles. Great to visit the Falls, and visit friends who live on the Niagara Parkway, or Niagara-on-the Lake, etc. In other news... I live in Missusuburbia myself (Streetsville), and it is drab and boring- ugh! Moved from Toronto several years ago- long story. I won't even use any cameras here, unless I stroll along the Credit River in Streetsville, which is actually pretty nice- a strip of nature, hidden amongst the featureless, flat, mall-ridden nothingness.

Agreed. People who visit tell us “the village looks so cute-what a great place to live.” I always tell them the village doesn’t have much except men’s barbershops and salons. Restaurants are hit and miss. The two coffee shops we had are long gone. The Culham Trail makes it suck a bit less.

It's part of what gives a lens 3D pop. Modern lenses "correct" this and lose their character. That mesh hat is an extreme example in the harsh sun.
