Actually, views of rice fields with coconut trees like in this video are found all over the island of Java, both in West Java, Central Java, East Java and even in Sumatra, but it's just not exposed and not promoted, only Bali is known to foreign tourists.

betul. nambahin dikit. sebagai petani yang pengen misuh tiap nggarap sawah berpematang sawah meliuk-liuk gitu, saya pengen ketawa tiap ada yang nganggep pemandangan sawah itu indah. like, you guys are amazed by it? you'd be more amazed knowing how little money every famer gets from their back-breaking hardwork. trust me.

Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :) We wanted to show a slightly different, less discovered side of Bali, which we actually love the island very much for - next time we'll be heading north because it's just as unexplored and more authentic!

4:05 Before it becomes rice, there are many steps to go through & they all have names. when it is still on the tree, we call it: PADI When it has been harvested & threshed from the tree, we are called: GABAH when it is separated from the skin, we call it: BERAS when it is cooked, we call it: NASI That's a little information from me. 😁😅 Sorry, my English is bad. I use google translate😅

The rice being dried on the road is actually still inside the shells. The rice within shells are dried till it turn brown so that it will be easier to come off from the shells. After the drying process, the rice will be put inside a milling machine, and you get the seeds, the white rice.
@JayandKarolina Жыл бұрын
So much useful information! Many thanks for this explanation!
@DavidKearns4 Жыл бұрын
Not grinding but threshing.
@diosundoro5019 Жыл бұрын
@@DavidKearns4 I mean milling. Sorry Indonesian vocab for milling and grinding are same 🙈 Not threshing though, threshing is picking out rice from the paddies.
@DavidKearns4 Жыл бұрын
@@diosundoro5019 Apologies, threshing is the process of removing the rice from the straw. Reaping is the process of removing the rice from the paddy, milling would be removing the husk and bran from the kernel (or just the husk in brown rice). And grinding would turn the rice into rice flour. Much easier to discuss in Indonesian where there are words for each step (padi, gaba, beras, nasi)... 😉

Nice choice go to sidemen or another highland in bali, because canggu is more crowded 😌
Yes, it is a rubbish problem for us, there is a lack of public awareness, if we throw rubbish carelessly, it will cause flooding when it rains, but I think not everywhere in Bali, people throw rubbish carelessly. But Thank you for letting us know, that will be our concern in the future👌

Rubbish problem is a concern. It was way worse before like five or 10 years ago, even in Jakarta, but slowly getting better now. A bit weird that in Bali as the face of Indonesian tourism the rubbish problem is not tackled as quickly. Anyway enjoy Bali, the locals are nice there. Rice grows in husks. First there's threshing to separate the grains and stalks. Then there's dehusking. The traditional way of dehusking involves drying, pounding (with a big pestle and mortar) to crack the husk and winnowing (the husk gets blown away).

Wow, tradisional ice cream di indonesia... Kamu menyukainya.

In indonesia we got at least 3 different words to describe rice. Padi = if it’s still in the field and still green in its tree (?) in the field you said rice field but we said sawah (padi field) Gabah = when the rice already harvested from sawah it’s still yellowy color because the rice still got it shell Beras = uncooked rice, usually you will find this one the markets Nasi = the beras already cooked and ready to serve we call it nasi, this is the closest thing with the definition of rice like we all know.
