@JamarConley4 жыл бұрын
I learned accounting, marketing and a lot of stuff in school. But that's because I picked my own classes and instead the letting a counselor limit me. Real education comes from a willingness to learn. Your parents can't teach you what they don't know. But that doesn't mean you can't learn it yourself. School and local libraries have a ton of books. I learned the most by teaching myself. You can't expect any teacher's basic methods to be understandable to every person they teach. I learned the most when I stopped depending on teacher's overcomplicated methods to solve simple problems.

@CJ Zanders My thoughts exactly. Individuals who care to concern themselves with whatever advantages others may have will go crazy. As you stated, one’s concerns are best focused completely on using one’s own advantages to create the best situation possible. In doing so one is being respectfully appreciative for having those advantages. To not do so, due to expending mental energy being concerned with the perceived advantages of others, is to not have complete respect and appreciation for one’s own advantages. The oligarchy who is bankrupting all of us ($35 trillion in government debt is going to be squeezed out of a LOT of white people, too!) wants to take most everything away from ALL of us, so they will want to FRAME the basics as "privilege," since "privileges" are ELIMINATED in an "equal" society (not their privilege to create and control money, though!). We will not be healthy until we can restore community. And as a whole return back to God, who has promised to heal our land if we repent and turn back to Him. We were required to take a Personal Finance class ... all of us, in order to graduate ... which taught us about checking and savings accounts, how to balance them, purchasing a home and the types of mortgages, building retirement, the whole nine yards. My grandchildren were not taught any of these things in their high school career. They twins are still in high school, but taking college courses ... but there weren't even classes available for them to take had they wanted to. Fortunately, they get that education in the home, but not every child is that fortunate. I truly believe these things MUST be taught in school. It would do a world of good for many students ... regardless of race or income level.

The privilege we all have is our existence it doesn't matter if you rich or poor. When you get to your grave your privilege as to what you can be stops... It doesn't matter if you're light skin, dark skin or brown.. Privilege on in life is your existence, period!

@@markinho424 you realize this guy's probably from Vietnam, a bombed out war torn nation from the 70s with people in worse poverty on average than here? Trust me they didn't have it easy either, only difference is he isn't making excuses because of his past.

Exactly finances are not taught in school period. This is something that our school systems need to change.

I truly enjoyed the conversations of this series. You have a lot of successful black people that have worked hard to improve themselves. It would be interesting to hear this conversation from the side of some that are not so successful. I believe that those that have been successful should come back to help those that are struggling. Black people are an economic engine that help too many other communities thrive instead of their own.

The racial wealth gap is a very real thing. We(American Decendents of Slavery) have no wealth to pass down and the gap continues to widen. If you have that degree but have thousands of dollars in debt, what will you be passing on? The 28 year old is being honest about what is happening.
@smokinonindo4 жыл бұрын
It really isn’t. Over 70% of generational wealth is lost before the second generation. If you’re having issues with wealth it’s more correlated to an individual’s financial literacy than historical injustices that didn’t even directly effect you.

The Jews who emigrated from Europe came with their clothes on their back if they were lucky. Don't hear them complaining. Start focusing on what you can do better instead of blaming everyone else.

14:39 One of the panelists said it's sad that finance is not taught in school. No, what's sad is that home management is not taught at home and passed down from generation to generation. This is how it's been done for centuries until recently. This is why it wasn't a part of core curriculum. The more we got comfortable having someone else teach our children, the more we kept passing responsibilities on to schools. It's sad that schools had to add home economics, heath class, etc... because these things were taught in the home. It's sad that parents forgot that schools are not responsible for their children's education, the parents are. The school is just a tool. On the other hand no matter what I think, it's far sadder not to have learned these things at all. So I concede to say let's get these subjects in the schools with the understanding that once our kids are educated, we need to go back to teaching in the home and passing down these lessons as a priority over basic survival once they are grown. Because let's be real, public education systems, as we know it, aren't working, and they may not be accessible in the future.
