You're maybe jumping to conclusions. There is early footage of games where people give fair feedback. I'm not even sure if it was as bad here. And in any case it's highly debatable whether the answer to stuff that's too early to show is to basically lie about things. Yet most prerenders are clearly recognizeable as such, in some cases also labelled accordingly, so if anyone falls for them than they may only have to blame themselves.

Bugs are a part of live service games because they have to update fast and don't have the luxury of bug fixing for a year before release.
@Phillipmurr2 ай бұрын
@ I played Warframe for four years. Up until recently they were horrible with their launches. I still remember Rebecca doing an emergency Livestream and nearly crying alive on air because of how bad the last three major updates have been . this was Charlotte Spier. Leechers. Followed by rail jack. I’m a console player, so they launched rail Jack knowing it was a bugging mess and we didn’t get a hoax fixed for two months. But we sure can still buy repair drones. I know they’ve improved. But I’m willing to bet you that soul frames release will be a buggy disaster. I also believe it will flop , They should’ve went the path of exile route and released Warframe 2.
@thatonepenguinperson6182 ай бұрын
@@Phillipmurr I've been playing Warframe for 11 years and though their updates were buggy, they've been quite good now since as you mentioned, DE has improved. That same team is also working on Spulframe's updates, so expect the recent frequency of Warframe to be parallel to that of Soulframe (they share a LOT of team members). Warframe has reduced the bugs significantly in the last 3 years by releasing updates slower and adding more focus on quality of life. Steve also regularly updates the game engine to improve performance for toasters. I would argue Warframe is the best performing online game for how good it looks and plays. Now, Warframe updates at the same time for all players as part of cross-save/platform play. And will Soulframe be buggy? Yeah, probably. I can't think of a single free live service game that launched without a lot of bugs though. I think the difference here is that it's exactly because they're trying to reduce bugs and such that they're doing pre-alpha and early access just like with Warframe. I don't believe it'll flop since DE is pretty passionate about their games. They stuck with Warframe for 11 years so far and are still building on it, improving everything. Considering Geoff and Steve are heading Soulframe, I think it has a pretty bright future for the audience it will gather. It also helps that there's no other live service Action RPG that is free to play and isn't an MMO. An official Warframe 2 would be a mistake. You look at PoE 2, but that is a much MUCH smaller game. You should compare it to Destiny 2, because Warframe and Warframe 2 cannot coexist like PoE and PoE 2 can. If you want an even better example of what Warframe 2 will look like, look at how PSO2 compares to PSO2 NG. A sequel to a live service game is just NOT viable at this size and highly unreasonable when they can just keep updating the game that's already proven itself. It's also important to note that Soul Frame is a passion project from the old guard (Steve, Geoff, and Scott) because they grew tired of working on Warframe for 10 years. You really think those people would want to make the same game a second time for another 10 years? I think it's good to criticize Soulframe, but thinking it'll flop with the explanations you provided just sounds like you personally want it to flop.
@Phillipmurr2 ай бұрын
@@thatonepenguinperson618 I don't personally want Soul framed to flop , But it's definitely not my setting II left warframe when davieri dropped . Because I wanted to play a sci-fi looter shooter Not a fantasy rogue light .. Which from my perspective was clearly put in the game so they could take the code and assets to build sole frame with .. I don't think I disagree with much of what you said. And maybe just maybe 1999 will get me back. its much closer to what warframe is than what duiri was . And when I first heard Rebecca had taken over, I was like well it's over now But from what I've heard she's done an amazing job. I think I just want it burnt out on the game. we're generally untrusting we get studios really not being honest DE is quite different this way not perfect, but DE is very community focused and they see quality much the way gamers do i'm hopeful the game looks beautiful DE knows how to make a fun game, and their artist are phenomenal DE Steve and his team are masters at game development and design

I played Warframe for 8 years and got code just because Warframe facebook group mod shared some codes And NGL, I kinda like it, I already spend hours in Duviri which is basically alpha pre-alpha Soulframe Visuals are just stunning and the game runs pretty well on my pc and I can't wait to see them cook the story Also the game is free so Iam not gonna sweat on smaller imperfections

14:55 I wonder what this means specifically? I think it's very important they get the combat right, if I can get by with simply spamming attack then I'm not interested. Make me i-frame or parry, please make the combat as soulsy as possible.

I was very critical of the last gameplay showcase due to the atrocious state of those combat/movement animations so I'm pleased to see they've taken that feedback to heart, even if it at times it was harsh, it was also fair. Also DE needs to stop releasing official gameplay showcases that have terrible visual quality. The last two were horribly washed out with terrible audio because they were filmed off a large screen in a convention hall... I mean WTF were they thinking not releasing a high quality recording of the source. This footage Force showed is much much better and does the beautiful art style and visuals of the game justice.

in my opinion it doesn't really make sense why a dev would say fine polishing isn't something that's on the forefront when making a game, I feel like it most definitely should be on the forefront because i feel like it would much easier to add code when there's less of it, than try to add code later down the line and potentially break something or multiple things. Granted there's still potential to break something when you're adding that Future code but i still think it would easier to fix in the moment than once all of the code is finished. This is why some games are literally made fun of for having Spaghetti code, Devs wanted to rush out a product didn't care about polish and making sure everything works. side note: These devs know what they were doing when they propped they lady up and had her legs dead center in the middle of the video.
@PellahTheHero2 ай бұрын
It does because of how early the game is: why bother polishing a system that you may end up removing? It just makes iterating faster, some stuff has already been changed around multiple times and are still not final: they recently switched from "energy based" abilities to cooldowns and are openly asking for feedback to see if people want to go back to the energy system or stick with the cooldowns (likely the latter). Soul Mode has also been changed drastically through the updates, for example it was used to gather energy to use abilities but that's not in the game anymore. I guess you must not be in Preludes, otherwise you'd know how long the list of "stuff that has been changed" (often drastically) is (even stuff like enemies move sets or abilities), they will polish stuff once they think they are onto something, but as long as they plan to try different things, not wasting time on polishing and refining stuff that might be removed just makes iterating faster, which is a very good thing imo given how early in development this Pre-Alpha is. I don't think people who haven't played it get how SMALL the build is right now.

DE generally doesn't let it's fans down so while I was not too thrilled with what I originally saw I also was like, yeah alpha state, they will listen everyone calm tf down. lol

Steps in the right direction, but plenty of warts still. Can't say much, as crucial aspects of the game have not really been discussed/shown yet. The core concept appealed to me and it still does, I'm not discouraged. I hope they do indeed keep the exploration alive. I understand not hiding core features of the game, but I also hope that it's not just question mark galore.

That used to be the case with Eidolon hunts back in 2017-2019 but as the meta set in, it became easier. my advice is to play hard content when it releases before it gets power crept, like EDA, it actually required some team work when it released before people figured out starts.

Warframe originally just played like a Mass Effect clone with a weird aesthetic. Over time, however, it underwent such profound changes that what we have right now is an abomination of a game that has a very strong identity. You can still hear the echoes of older Warframe in the early-game, such as its slower pace, its decade-old tilesets, and the absence of power-creep, but once you get to mid-game and end-game, Warframe becomes a different game entirely. (Look at any beginner doing a random mission on Earth and then compare that footage with any crackhead trying to reach level cap on Void Cascade. There is no way that these two pieces of footage come from the same game.) Personally, I want to see something like that happen to Soulframe, because it is pretty derivative in its current state. I am eager to see how time will transform Soulframe into a very unique experience, just like its older brother.

Tbh what make warframe appealing to me is not even the game mechanic it the all movement system, the speed, the flow. Now that they got rid of it in this game, I don't see how this game can be good or interesting.
