"Get it Together" is another Beastie Boys track I think you'd both genuinely like, Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest is featured on it. As someone else who didn't grow up listening to them a lot, both are highly replayable tracks. Sabatoge too. 3 MCs and 1 DJ (official video) is just one you have to experience.

This one came out about the time I was entering my teens, and is still one of my favorite Beastie tracks. I think it's for the same reason you stated BJ, because of that beat. Timelessly hard. I was drawn to rap with more of an edge back then, and Em was just becoming big. The Beasties definitely kept with the times, and adopted some of those sounds well. That's something that's really impressed/es me with them. Even De La Soul and Public Enemy fell off at a certain point, but they kept throwing out bangers.
@beyondthepage9389 Жыл бұрын
The thing to note about the Beastie Boys rap style is that it's old skool early 80s rap. When all of rap chose to move with the times the Beasties stood still (they didn't business) they just kept doing it the way they always had and as music fashion etc tends to work in cycles, their old-school style of rap sounds fresh today. Well I got to keep it going keep it going full STEAM Too sweet to be sour too nice to be MEAN On the tough guy style, I'm not too KEEN To try to change the world I'll plot and SCHEME From the family tree of old school “HIPHOP” Kick of your shoe and relax your “SOCKS” The rhymes will hit you like a “POX” Cause the music is live like an electric “SHOCK” The way they all jump on the "PUNCHLINE" is classic 80s style Rap (check out early Run DMC).

@@beyondthepage9389 I feel like you wasted that info on me, when you could have shared it with someone new to the Beasties. I probably know more about 80s/90s Hip-Hop than 90% of Hip-Hop fans today (not to boast, just truth), from East, to West coast, and everywhere in-between. And you sound like you might be a part of that 10% too. But I'm glad that you have a comparable appreciation for the Beasties, and groups like Run DMC (I know their stuff too). 👍 And yes, I agree, very much 80s style inflections/stresses. I always felt that era was very charming, lighthearted and fun with that style. Beasties definitely being a big example of that lighthearted aspect. Also, really old comment, but I don't mind replying 'cuz I know it might be someone's first time seeing the reaction. Keep spreading that Hip-Hop love/info my dude. Good to see there are more Hip-Hop nerds out there. 🙂
