At the introduction, I knew it was going to be about the USS Indianapolis. The mistakes were covered up and they blamed it on the Captain. Which was unconsciousable, action on the part of the Navy.

The amount of negligence and refusal to accept responsibility of the U.S. Navy in this instance is unbelievable. It's almost like they deliberately didn't inform the Captain and intentionally left the Sailors and Marines to die.

I remember watching this on Shark Week on year where they had the survivors telling their story and what it was like in those waters. Really gives you a perspetive of how wild and dangerous nature really is and how disconneted we become from it living in our safe cushiony houses far away from it.

I remember the first time I heard/read the story of the USS Indianapolis. I was in grade 6 and it was one of the stories in our reading comprehension book that year. It has haunted me since.

I actually knew Edgar Harrell for a few years before his passing. He was a good man. He only really talked about what happened once or twice. You could tell it pained him to think about.

Oh Wow. Over all the years that I hear about this story, this is the first time I've ever heard what happened with the captain. That's really messed up and I hope the families that tortured him genuinely regret being so awful.

I wouldn't find peace knowing that my Dad was wrongfully court-marshaled and was subsequently bombarded with hate from people who thought he was responsible for their loved ones deaths and as a result took his own life just because year later congress came back and said "we're sorry."

they are attracted to any blood. they are just usually to far away in the ocean. that´s why most of the time nothing happens on the beach. just in some places you have to be careful near land.

Shark nerd fact: most of the sharks responsible were speculated to be Oceanic White Tips. But because most shipwreck shark attacks were undocumented and the sharks not positively identified, the species never got to the "Top 3" lists.

I don't understand why a simple battleship would be having so much people on it?! Way too dangerous! If it was transporting troops a good idea would've been to use a destroyer/torpedo boat for guarding it. Those soldiers were replaceable sadly.
