I always say it don’t matter if your man proposes to you with the soda tab as long as he means what he says you can always say but later for the ring you want even if you have to wear a ring that’s 20 bucks for three years shouldn’t matter about the ring size of the jewel. It matters about your love and connections, and the fact that you have someone who’s willing to propose to you and want to spend your life together, that’s all should matter

-she stays at home -she doesn’t work -she has disability and military benefits -doesn’t take care of the kids -doesn’t cook -he takes care of all the bills -they’re in debt -flexes schooling without understanding it has amounted to nothing, and wants to go back despite lack of reasoning which will cause even more stress on the household ….she is 90% of the problem. The husbands attitude and passive nature on letting her do this to the family is 10% of the problem. I’d consider this to be abuse to both the kids and husband

Near end Caleb goes 'any final thoughts?' and husband asks 'is it sustainable?' while turning towards wife and just looks at her and waits for an answer while she fumbles a bit and thinks for too long for an answer to an almost rhetorical question. Zero confidence they follow though, wife is relying on husband and handouts to do everything.

Housing stipend is part of the VA education benefit. But sounds like she is going to school just for that and loan deferment which does feel like gaming the system. I’m a vet using the same program at 39 to make a career shift. I feel guilty as heck not working, but if you have kids and are going to school full time something has to give. She takes care of the home and does her schoolwork, he works his bag off, in 5 years he can go back to being a person and she'll have her degree, the young one will be in school and they can both contribute. A lot of people blame the kids today getting ipads so early for their issues. Some of that it but a lot of it is just the neglect parents have been taught over the generations from their parents and so on. It also just gives such a bad name to stay at home parents. I know a few that literally sleep until noon and have their significant other do a lot of stuff with the kid and the kid even goes to school. So its like what are they doing all day? They will often have to say they need to clean up before anyone comes over, they go out to eat constantly, the other parent is doing work with the kids hours a day, so what do they do? From everything I just said it seems like nothing.

This lady actually makes me mad. She is the problem in this relationship. Stays home and doesn't cook AT ALL. How can a family make good financial decisions if they are eating out 3 times a day? She has an excuse for everything and she should be ashamed of her actions. No one can sustain this lifestyle when they aren't working. She literally eats more than her disability check brings in. It's her.. her two children cannot eat thousands of dollars worth of food in a month. She is living her best life and making her family financially ruined in the process. I can't blame her husband for being discouraged to try and be better.. he has no support and is dealing with an immature child for a wife.

He's basically deaf from being blown up 4 times in Iraq. He is too humble saying he didn't want to take away from other veterans who need it more. He had to hear from other veterans that that isn't good logic to go by because he DOES need it too. Anyway watching this person blatantly taking advantage of and abusing the system. If she actually gave any percent of a crap about their finances she'd have known they dropped 3-4 THOUSAND in a single month on fast food. She doesn't even know what they spend on household necessities (which is insane for the SAH parent in a relationship) or the time frame their bank statement covers. There were a couple points when it felt like this is the guy's final shit and if she doesn't start giving a crap he's out. They take it easy and live slow, less stress, and take a month of vacation in August. I studied abroad there and the traditional food ingredients and culture is really nice. So to update this, any veteran who uses their GI bill can apply for a 9 month extension on top of the 36 months ONLY if you are pursuing a STEM degree. Also, I wish people would not bash her for claiming disability compensation. People think VA disability means your disabled or you’re less than others or you’re a free loader getting free money from the government. Perhaps that’s why they are even on this show? Did you know that some people with PTSD, ADHD and/or depression are viewed as “lazy” because their brain works differently than other people’s? They make $141,000 a year and have two kids to deduct. Yet she thinks it's OK to think about NOT paying debts because they will drop off. She is relying on OPM (other people's money) rather than thinking about being self-sufficient. One thing that was glossed over was, "We had a forced separation, but he still ended up with an Honorable Discharge". WHAT? He sits there passively like a limp washrag, which is probably the approach he took to being a sailor. She thinks no further into the future than the next Due Date. So what does she want to do??? Petition for a higher Disability Payment. She could be doing jobs that require no standing...it's called a Reasonable Accommodation, honey. Get a job, put the kids in daycare, ease your husband's burden, and act like a grown-up for the first time in your life. Maybe...just maybe...you can show your kids a different way of handling money than you saw growing up. Start by telling them, "we can't afford to..." Worrying about Christmas gifts for kids who are 7 and 2 is reckless. If she can't shop and cook so that they spend less than $100 per day eating out, she shouldn't carp about not being able to buy the kids stuff. I get the feeling she's milking the VA. I hope she is investigated to see if she is doing things that she shouldn't be able to. I'm for supporting vets who can't function, but she is capable in many ways. She should be required to perform tasks that are cleared by her doctors. Sadly, she won't change and she'll drag her wimpy husband down with her. She's OK filing for bankruptcy, which means that's always at the forefront of her brain rather than working hard, cutting back, and sucking it up.

This lady has no intention of working in her life. It's disgusting that she never cooks these kid's meals. He's working his but off, she's so bloody lazy. She would rather get taxpayers to pay her rent than get off her ass and pay her own rent. I was a single parent and paid all my bills. Not once did I consider letting my neighbours who pay tax pay to keep a roof over my children's rent. My man died, and I was left with 4 kids. I fed them and put the clothes on their back. "I can't stand for more than an hour at a time" Well good because unless you work in a kitchen professionally you never will cooking. Most meals don't even take 30 min of standing even when you are learning. I pick our recipes to try and basically teach myself with them. As time has gone on I have gotten so much better and there are tons of things I can make with only 10 min of actual work, 20 min can get the food made and everything fully cleaned up easily. Its all the same excuse "groceries cost the same as eating out" no they don't "it takes so long to cook" no it really doesn't "I don't know what to cook" welcome to this amazing thing called the internet with billions of recipes to satisfy every kind of diet and preference imaginable "I don't have time to do that" The excuses just never end.

She needs large amounts of therapy, to stop making excuses for everything, and to stop looking for ways to game the system more. This couple makes a strong argument as to why there are people out there who are against student loan forgiveness. That’s not what the student loan forgiveness was about.
