Sweet motel explore! I love the retro look of the exterior. It reminds me of a place my wife and I stayed at for her birthday a couple of years ago. Too bad so many of these "mom and pop" motels are bring replaced by big chain/franchises. Thanks for documenting and sharing this one with us! We're already looking forward to seeing you at the next...... Static Space! 👍

that hotel reminds me of the kights Inn in handaile beach Fl Dompomat pwky 26,but we stayed in room 2201 and it was horrble. roaches were everywhere ,the rooms were smelly, the bed sheets and blankets were dirty.Also the outlets were cracked, the floor was dirty we had bathroom was dirty and we had nothing but a fridge and a moivrove that was a dump to my mom , but I trhought it was okay.

Aw the heart-shaped tub, got ta love it, a bit creepy to think about how much action went on, ok sorry, thanks for this walk through, sorry Motel has had better days for sure, that first bedframe looks just like my waterbed frame I had for many years (still miss that thing), and again so much stuff that has been left to rot and stink, shuddering thinking about what you smelled, yuk. Thanks again can't wait for your next one!

What an interesting explore! It seems like the owners couldn't decide what was going to bring in the most money for them. Long term people, weekly people with the kitchenette available, etc. When I saw the flyer for the place, the heart shaped tub surrounded by mirrors made perfect sense - trying to cash in on the honeymooners in Niagara Falls. But, it didn't have a restaurant or breakfast offerings so I'm sure that helped with the demise of this place. Looked like the owners were living in the rooms that were attached to the office.
@StaticSpaces2 ай бұрын
Ya, the tub room definitely felt like the honeymoon suite. I think you are right about the owners living in the office area, it seems to be quite common with these smaller motels too. I like the idea of a kitchen in your rental because I can only eat so much fast food/restaurant food. Thank you very much for your comment!!

Hi James The shape this place is in and the fact that it smells it’s hard to believe this Inn has seen better days.EW🤢It’s only been closed about 1 year by the looks of it may have been longer. This Static Space has really gone to pot. When you said people complained about things like the sheets not being cleaned I wanted to puke. It looks like this Inn was in the middle of a residential neighborhood. I can’t even imagine a squatter wanting to stay there especially with the stench you had to endure. You are a brave man James to go in some of these places. I appreciate the fact that you do this for us subs but some of these joints are grosser than gross. Your health and safety are more important than any video. You did a great job showing us around today James and I thank you. Keep up the good work you do and stay away from theses stinky and gross Static Spaces. Stay safe and well.👍🆒🚧
@StaticSpaces2 ай бұрын
Ya, I don't think it had been closed for very long, a year sounds about right. Squatters will stay anywhere, they don't care if people have homes right next door. And yes, this one was ripe but still so much fun to visit. Glad you liked it Irene and thank you very much for your comment!!

Sorry I missed the premier!! The outside really looks like some of the mom and pop motels I’ve seen when traveling 😊. Stayed in a few but they were very well maintained ❤. I go retro when I can❤❤It’s easy to tell when owners care about their property ❤ I hope you didn’t get sick after exploring it for us!!!!! I feel like someone was still squatting in the room where everything was hid in the bathtub and drawers. The heart shaped tub was pretty neat!!!! I liked the color and mirrors around it ❤️. Until next time be safe and stay healthy!!❤️ Pam❤️

Looks like someone may have been squatting in that one room that smelled bad with VHS tapes. That open container of peanut butter by them looked pretty fresh to me. The office area looked like they just stepped out. Love that heart shaped tub. Hope they saved some of this stuff before demolishing it. Thanks for shaing.

Cool explore with a lot left behind, especially seeing how accessible the individual rooms are. Hotels and motels are some of my favorite abandons. So many people of so many different backgrounds and stories stay in these rooms.and for any number of reasons and occasions. If walls could talk! So I think you answered your own question..North Americans have long preferred chains as a society to independent/small/mom-pop businesses, and as chains grow richer (while smaller businesses suffer) and exert more influence, more and more places like this will disappear. This is true of all sorts of businesses..hotels, restaurants, retail establishments, and so on. I kinda get it, especially with people being budget conscious these days. Chains offer one thing that just isn't possible among mom/pop shops: a great degree of consistency. While there may be many differences between locations, including quality especially with chain brands that are franchises, you pretty much know what you are getting when you stop in a McDonalds..or a WalMart..or book a room at a Holiday Inn. It will roughly be the same experience whether you are in Boston, or Toronto, or Kansas City, or Houston, or southern California, or anywhere else in this part of the world. It will likely not be terrible, nor will it astound you. On a scale from 1-10, you'll usually get a 5-6. Maybe a 4 on a bad day or 7 on a great. With the locally owned small businesses, you just don't know what you are getting unless you are already very familiar with the business. Could be the best meal/stay you've ever had that you'll remember the rest of your life for the pleasurable stay...or you will end up remembering how you and your family were re-loading your luggage in your car at 2am and running all over town for another place to try to get some sleep because of bugs, drugs, or well..use your imagination. I like the small places myself but I do get why chains hold so much sway
@StaticSpaces2 ай бұрын
I think you nailed it with this comment, it all comes down to consistency! I took a trip last year where I had to stay in a few shady motels on the way home due to weather, there was no consistency at all. Fortunately none of them were so bad that I had to leave but that is always the risk you take. One places rates were double what they should have been (because of poor upkeep) but I unfortunately had no choice that night, live and learn. Thank you very much for your comment!!
@eavesdroppin12 ай бұрын
This is a run-down motel from the late 50's that is on its last leg...yuck. You have to have #1 taste, vision and cleanliness to appeal to the current trade which they didn't have. Except for one thing. I bought a lamp years ago at a thrift store that I love, and they have several in white. Thanks for dragging us along!
@StaticSpaces2 ай бұрын
I think those are good points. But let me ask you, why if a motel is vintage, even if well maintained, why would it still be unpopular? Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
@user-pd8rl9dh3mАй бұрын
Personally I think the most concerning things about motels is bedbugs. People look at these small old places and think "dirty". But it's actually harder to control bedbugs in a larger facility. And I'd rather stay in the old historic ones as long as there clean. If not I'll leave and get my$ back and tell them all about it.
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
I think you may have a point there, the more people you have at a hotel the more chance there is for bed bugs. And I agree, you don't want to get those things! Thanks very much for your comment!!

On google maps shows it was demolished as of june 2023, empty lot. Interesting to look back at the dates, seemed to be in it's heyday 2007,2008 with it's pool and landscaping. Reviews showed mixed and negative in 2012, saying it was the best kept secret at one time. You have to wonder did it change ownership, or for whatever reason, health, money the last owner could not keep the place up.
@StaticSpaces2 ай бұрын
Ya, I bet it was a great place to stay at one time. That's a good point about changing ownership, or maybe an owners declining health, both are possible. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!

why did they shut it down if they guests were companing about smelly rooms, broken light fixtures and dirty bed sheets and blankets?

I guess because if they are still making money then they are going to keep operating. But you can only run a place like that for so long until it becomes unprofitable
