What a cool "accidental find". Schools hit me harder than most. Seeing the trophies just left sitting around. Student athletes worked hard to earn those and schools should be proud of those accomplishments throughout the years. Yes, in case you didn't figure it out, my son played 3 sports throughout his middle/high school career. What a huge building. I loved the murals in both of the gyms. Wow, my four years of French came right back to me 😂Great explore James!
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Ya I don't understand leaving the trophies there, seems odd. Oh that's cool that your son was an athlete. You'll be glad to hear that there will be more schools coming in the future! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!

I was reading, yes, high school students went here also. Apparently, part of the building was condemned and the bus garage was spilling its fuel and oil into the ground water, so it had a contamination issue also.
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Oh I hadn't read about the condemned part of the building but I did read the part about the auto garage leaking the fluids.....that's not good at all! Thanks again for your comment!!

Thanks James for this awesome video. That closet that could be padlocked, was just a closet. No school would even think of having a locked detention room.

I was a student at that school in the 1970's. The fellow in the picture at 20:13 is Frank H. MacDonald, he was my Grandfather. The elementary school just up the hill from the high school was named after him. That picture used to hang in the elementary school.
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Oh wow, I wonder why they didn't save the picture then, seems like a waste? Pretty crazy that it's your grandfather, that's so cool. Thank you very much for your comment!!
@stevemacdonald3749Ай бұрын
@@StaticSpaces It is good you captured your video when you did. As planned they did demolish the building. I'm told it's just an empty field now. I'm not sure if the Junior High building or the Commercial wing is still standing. FYI, originally the largest building was the Senior High, the next building to the left was the Junior High and the brick building that formed the "L" was the Commercial School. As for having two Gym's, in my time one was for the male students and the other for the female students. No idea why my Granddad's picture never made it back to the elementary school after the renovations were completed. It may just be a victim of time and no one knew who the person in the picture was. I no longer live in the area and am a bit out of touch.

Fascinating video James! I enjoyed seeing the improvised speedrun of your exploration! :) I'm so glad you found the second gym because I was curious what kind of auditorium or performance space would have been there...makes sense that it was part of the gym! I know you were trying to cover as much ground as possible with the time/light you had. I was struck by the irony that as I'm guessing you would have liked to have spent more time there, back when there were students in that space, they probably couldn't wait to get out of there before the end of the day! Would love to see more videos like this!
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Yes, in Ontario, most of our schools have the gym and auditorium as the same room...more efficient that way I guess. Glad you enjoy the big locations, there will definitely be more of them to come. Thank you very much for your comment!!

This was an amazing video!!!!!! That school was so incredibly big!!!! Those checker floors!!!! I would get lost in there for sure🤣. You really should do more of these types of places. Gymnasium/auditoriums usually are dark when the lights are off so that when they are performing the stage lights are the only lights in the rooms, great tour James 👍

It’s crazy how they couldn’t use this building for something. Just left it and left books, desks, chairs! These are all items that could have been reused somewhere! Homeless shelters could absolutely use them!

The part of the building that you said was the old part was actually the new side that they used till it closed. it was used as a middle school before they closed it they needed to renovate the other school up the hill so the elementary school students went there while they did renovations
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Oh ok, that makes sense and explains why the other side of the school was mostly empty. That's a long renovation job though.....16 years? There wasn't a lot of information about this school, so there were a few things I couldn't quite figure out. Thank you very much for your comment!!
@ryankk34xp84Ай бұрын
@StaticSpaces the renovations took about 2 years and that was the last 2 years it was opened

I thought the high school closed in 2003? So what happened between then and when the middle school was there?

Other good Video James I am from Loudonville ohio and the School system in the Loudonville-Perryvilles area are thinking about building a New K-12 school building because our schools are 100 years old and the Loudonville-Perryvilles area is going to sell the old Schools so they can be reused or they will be put on a Historic list

Hi James😊 I liked the video very much. It was interesting and looked like a cool school. All the paintings and murals. They had talented kids there judging by all the trophy’s. But James I know you said you didn’t have a lot of time but I feel like you rushed thru it. I know you said you took a wrong turn and wound up at that school but you shouldn’t try to film something when you are pressed for time. That’s all I’m going to say about it. Even still I did enjoy it and it was quite interesting. In my opinion it was a cool STATIC SPACE. Stay safe and stay well.👍🆒 Have a happy Halloween.🎃👻💀
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
I mean, I was sort of pressed for time but I had to come back the next day for photos. Part of the issue is too, if I spent as much time as I do for houses, it would have been a 3 hour video. 😆 I haven't quite figured out how to do a big location justice without it being too long. Also, most of the classrooms were very similar, so I didn't see much point in filming them all. Appreciate your feedback Irene and glad you enjoyed it!!

Its a bit sad to see schools go especially after budget cuts. For development purposes its just sometimes greedy. Keep doing your thing JH. Amazing work as always. Big Huga 😊😊 P.s. my first school I went to became abandoned for a few years then it got repurposed into an Islamic school

Perfecto for senior housing, unless in Canada it’s not cost effective or no population for such.
