To those commenting that they Live IS about the Jews running the world, even though the writer director staunchly says it isn't, thank you for demonstrating a major point in the video - that people have a tendency to seek out mind-numbingly simplistic explanations of society, it's problems and thus seek over simplistic solutions. To those who reluctantly acknowledge the film isn't intentionally about the Jews, but claim it fits perfectly as an allegory of Jewish control anyway ... It's a shame I have to actually explain this basic point, but I'm doing so in the hope you'll learn something. They Live "fits perfectly" as an allegory of many conspiratorial interpretations of society - the bankers, the Illuminati, the Jews, the globalists, the New World Order, the capitalists, the fascists, the shape-shifting lizards, the Republican Party, The Democrat Party, the Labour Party, The Conservative Party ... take your pick. The fact that you choose to see the one interpretation, while excluding most of the others, says more about you than it does the film itself. The world is full of conspiracies I agree, and some of them are so awful that they are met with mass denial, but the world is far too complex for a single group to entirely monopolize. The reality is that multiple power groups of varying attitude to the general population are constantly either over-lapping or competing with each other. It's always been that way and always will be because fortunately humanity has a tendency to splinter itself into competing tribes. I'm certainly not saying you shouldn't get educated about the dangerous power groups in our midst nor sit back and do nothing about it, but I am saying you should not blindfold yourself by investing all your hope and fears in the notion that by defeating a single power group the world will magically be put right. Corruption can only be fought off temporarily in its varying guises, but it will always be with us because we (including you) have a corruption element built into us.
@sewme7861

"the world is far too complex for a single group to entirely monopolize." No one is saying that it isn't, Rob, youre straw manning. People are saying that Jews have power and influence over Western society far beyond their 2% of the population would suggest, and that they carry out a malicious agenda not in the interest of non Jews. Would it be all right with you if all the media in Africa was run by the Danes? Or Scots, or Peruvians? Why and why not, and please be consistent here, don't apply one rationale and standard for this question and another for other questions, that gets really tiresome for people who are actually consistent about things. As well, maybe the issue of tyrannical control of our society is more important than film analysis, ultimately, and those who notice the similarities between the film and reality regarding the Jewish relationship to non-Jews are simply trying to have a more important convo than "what is They Live about?" It's funny actually, you say "globalists, bankers, Illuminati, New World Order," all of which have major authorship by Jews far beyond their percentage of the population would suggest. These are essentially different terms for the same thing; Jews. Which is why many people have said that "globalist" and "banker" are antisemitic slurs. The majority of funding for both parties comes from Jewish people and groups. Yes, Rob, take your pick indeed. Yet, fascists have not acted in ways that would "fit perfectly" with They Live. It would be a very messy sloppy forced fit to say so. Please, explain how They Live "fits perfectly" with fascist governance? I know you don't believe it does per se, but make the case one would make to say that it does, and we can then see how badly it fits compared to the case made for Jews "fitting perfectly" the story of They Live. You are dancing around things here, mate.

@collativelearning 5 жыл бұрын
@Yes they are saying a single group can monopolize everything. Just look at some of the comments on here. You've demonstrated it yourself by claiming that Jews are the overseers of the "globalists, bankers, Illuminati, New World Order". There are plenty of others who believe in some of those other power groups, but do not share your Jewish root cause assessment. You say many have referred to "globalist" and "banker" as antisemitic slurs. That's a new one on me, I've talked about the problems of globalists and bankers many, many times, especially the problematic Federal Reserve, and never encountered an accusation of antisemitism on account of it. Ironically, you've gone down the politically correct route of claiming that because a certain group are over-represented in positions of power that there is a conspiracy afoot - the exact same logic happens with people who believe in the evil patriarchy or white privilege. Oooh look, that boardroom is 80% white men, what else can it be but systemic mysoginy and racism!!!!! ... as they ignore the many over-lapping factors that lead to that such as women preferring other types of job roles, men have a wider range of IQs, thus producing more genius at the top end of the scale etc. Ashkenazi Jews, as I'm sure you're aware if you've really done your research on the subject, have higher average IQ's that the general population, inevitably making them suitable for high level complex planning roles. Do they look after their own? Of course they do, like every other group does. But they are not over-represented in power positions BECAUSE they are Jewish any more than white older male dominated boardrooms are caused by an ethnic conspiracy. As for your claim that fascists have not acted in a manner that fits with They Live's conspiracy narrative, I partially agree. There are contradictions and I raise this in my full video ... Even though Carpenter claimed the film essentially represents capitalism, the Republicans and Reagan economics, the evidence doesn't match in life, and this is particularly evident in how the world has changed since the film was made. However, the film does show a Republican candidate alien on TV, NOT a Jewish banker. The film does show primarily black people in poverty with the pro-white (not pro-Jewish) theme even more evident in the script. Far from dancing around the subject, I'm answering all of your questions and pointing out the flaws I see in your logic. And that's not the behaviour of someone who is in denial or acting as gatekeeper. I'm personally indifferent to Israel. I don't like some of the things they've done, but there are many nations who've done a lot of bad stuff who definitely aren't Jewish controlled. However, let's assume for a second that you're right. Do you really believe the way to solve these world problems is to emphasize the ethnicity of the perpetrators - running around shouting "It's the jews", thus falling stupidly into the trap of being branded a bigot, racist, neo-nazi etc? You're doing what your enemies want you to do, thus justifying their attempts at suppressing your free speech, right? Wouldn't it be more productive and effective to educate people about the organisations that need to be investigated and their specific policies that need to be changed? Solve those things and the rest doesn't matter. One last point, your statement that the issue is more important than film analysis ... if that's so then go discuss it in a non- film analysis context.

The whole thing is a metaphor about "waking up". The simple one liners in the magazines just represent "hidden" messages or programming, which is real. The fight represents the struggle it takes to wake someone up from delusion, which is believing the world is as is represented on TV or MSM. People are happy living in that place and don't want to confront the reality of the world. It's not about one ideology or one group or another. It's been generalized to be easily understood in a movie.

I agree with alot of what you say, possibly all of this, but you excluding the most obvious explanation. The alien-like creatures that can only be seen by people with these special glass, or shall I say "special vision". And if you can explain them as a metaphor somehow, maybe you would be willing to also explain the metaphor behind the scene where the main character stumbles upon a secret "gateway" room area, which allows one to teleport themselves to location off earth? I honestly have no idea about any of it, and would love to hear your thoughts 🙂👌

@@johnjacobjingledingleberry9769 Could be that it's an extension of the metaphor the aliens represent. They represent an idea that is beyond man in their desire for control and wealth. Except that it is not "inspiring" at all! That very weird that something soooooo uninspiring is taken as "most inspiring thing". What inspires you?? To survive no matter what?? It is the mentality of a servant: save your life no matter what, serve on the knees if it works in keeping your life "safe". That's not so corageous nor eroic. It is the menthality of a sheep, that trys to escape but not if the dog barks at her. Let me tell you one thing: the dog is real and barking at you is guiding you and your kind to the precipice. If you don't fight it back because you have the fear to lose your life, eventually you are going to lose it for real! And whit you, all your buddies is going to die because no one has the guts of doing anything about that beyond bleating like "scared to death" sheeps. No, inspiring is something that calls you to fight till you die for keeping liberty for everyone. We the people are a society. If we don't cooperate, if we don't help each other when someone is in danger, if we are not prepared to fight for liberty at the expense of something than we are done... we will become lonely individuals that can be squeezed and crushed like ants, because as individuals we are week. That's the problem of nowadays: THEY have transformed a society of linked humans in a bunch of apatic individuals that will not sacrifice anything for the other's and for theirs own liberty.

People can laugh and call me crazy but I learnt this first hand when I had an inexplicable and extreme UFO experience with my ex who vehemently denied it for weeks until he finally admitted he had seen what I saw. He then refused to talk about it in any depth. The only possible terrestrial thing it could have been (in my knowledge) is ball lightning but it was a perfectly clear day with blue skies. A few months later I pointed out a strange light in the sky which he said was a plane only for it to just disappear into thin air - "it disappeared" he said 😂 to which I agreed and yet he STILL refused to talk about the situation. Y'all can laugh all you like but I know what I've seen and people will do anything to deny that life is much stranger than we're told.

This might the most grounded and insightful take on this movie ive seen yet. Thanks Rob. I remember coming across this movie as a teenager in the late 90s and thinking "this guy is speaking my language" as, at the time, i was young and full of anger and confusion about why the world seemed so insane. As im now 40 i get a different vibe when i watch it. Maybe its just as simple as maturity and a better understanding of the world around me then i had when i was 16. That said, i still really enjoy the movie for what it is and still think there are some good insights that can be gleaned from it. Always question authority, think for yourself and so on. But i agree that there are certain rabbit holes that one should avoid when it comes to that kind of thinking. Be an individual but dont isolate yourself so much that you stop living and just merely exist. Dont allow yourself to be radicalized by conspiracys that arnet there and there is definitely alot of that out there today.

I watched They Live after watching this film analysis and I have a different take away then some of the others in these comment. I think a lot of the movie point to that the plot is suppose to be a metaphor of Apartheid in South Africa. The main reasons for this is how the group of rebels are depicted. The ghouls classify them as communist and call them terrorist which is what the south african government did to more effectively fight against Nelson Mandela and his movement. Also the headquarters in the beginning of the film where they manufacture the glasses is called an African Methodist Church and even if the rebels are mixed they have a bunch of black leaders. The way the camp is demolished and assaulted by the police reminds me of the South African shanty towns of the 80s and the way the police act walking in formation is very similar to the South African police in riot controls. I do believe however that the film has many meanings and the ghouls basically represents everyone that Carpenter hates. At the end of the movie a film critic is portrayed as a ghoul and she is criticising his movies.

You are being extremely generous to the media and it’s intentions. After the recent project veritas piece, your innocent explaining away of deliberate and intense mind control is naive or deluded. Most media in the United States are owned by a few companies it at times can be laziness. You are a typical intellectual feeling you’re opinion of the world is reality that your ivory tower rationalizations to diffuse what is troubles you. You are correct people should live, enjoy life and appreciate friendships but that doesn’t diffuse the manipulation of the culture or even make it the slightest bit conspiratorial, you sound like someone trying to placate there own fears. Secondly if living becomes the value that trumps all other morals that is exactly how people are herded into death camps, when you make living the highest standard you trivialize the human sacrifice that built every functioning democracy which allows for such trivial pursuits as film analysis.

I'm actually a fan of Project Veritas. Love what they do. But to assume that the entire news media, including all the smallest outlets, operate in the same manner as Veritas illustrates is a massive leap. It is absolutely true that "cut and paste" journalism is a massive problem ... among other things. There's also what I call "conspiracy by convenience", which means lots of journalists and editors who hold similar beliefs publish similar pieces, not out of an agreed conspiracy, but each of their own volition. In other words, often it's a journalistic trend rather than a formal conspiracy. The effect is similar and so it has the appearance of conspiracy.
