Hey there, Dr. Hampton! I am a registered nurse of 28 years. We took one class in nutrition 101. That’s it just like the doctors we learned very little in nutrition, but I was always interested in it and so I always did my own research and learned about it. I started low-carb Dr. Atkins in the early 90s and then I started keto about nine years ago. I had trouble with that because I still craved sugars bread, but the problem for me was sweets. My A1c was elevated. I got fibromyalgia, glaucoma, chronic pain, and fatigue even doing low-carb because I still had the cravings my weight fluctuated. I had sleep apnea, cavities. Depression and low energy and that’s probably because I would go off my diet during holidays and then I would binge and gain 20 pounds in a month or two and then I’d go back on the low carb diet, but my health was not good. I had fat around my midsection. So I went down the rabbit hole of carnivore about 14 months ago I read books I followed all the doctors on KZbin. I made notes in a book of a list of foods that I can only eat and took about almost 3 months to study and learn everything I need to know about carnivore because I know that if you don’t follow it correctly, you can hurt yourself. I know that you cannot eat sweets on the weekends or once a month you must abstain because the inflammation will come back. I understand the science behind carnivore and MY HUSBAND works in Cardiology as a sales rep for the number one pacemaker company in the country. He knows a lot too, but in our big city in Texas, the cardiologist even 97% of them do not understand SAD and low-carb, keto or carnivore. So I talked to my family about what I was going to do. I had about 40 pounds to lose and in 2024 January I started thinking I was going to do a 90 day challenge during that time, I also read the book called brain energy by Christopher M Palmer. I was amazed and astounded because I have been on SSRI since I was in my 20s with my depression and anxiety and I was interested in treating that on carnivore too. I read the diabetes code. I read Dr. Boz’s two books Dr. Baker’s book Dr. Saladino’s book. I watched you on several interviews and all of the popular carnivores ! I threw away or gave away all processed foods and purchased eggs, bacon and meat. Ribeyes and ground beef is my favorite! This is some of the great things I have experienced now it’s been a year. My eye doctor said that there’s no sign of glaucoma and he asked me who diagnosed me with it because it’s not there. I had seen a different doctor before and had been taking glaucoma drops for five years my A1c is normal. My dentist and dental hygienist are shocked every time I go that my teeth are so clean and healthy and they can’t find anything wrong with them and tell me just to continue doing what you’re doing. My dentist asked me if I eat any candy and I told him no, he said well it shows ha ha I love it !I have cut my antidepressant and anxiety pills down from 1/2 to 1/4 of a pill on my own no blood pressure pills. The CPAP is gone when I got diagnosed with sleep apnea two years ago I was having 30 episodes and when I saw my sleep apnea doctor three months ago I was down to one episode so the machine has gone. I am down to a size 4. My weight is 130. I lost 43 pounds. My skin is glowing. The gray hairs that I was starting to get have turned brown again, but don’t get me wrong. There are still a few grays all the skin tags that I had around my neck fell off. They dried up and fell off. My hair is long. I think I’m aging in reverse. My mental clarity is amazing. I have willpower excitement and energy to do things that I lost interest in 20 years ago. I am very happy and will continue this for the rest of my life because I am a different person Healthier and happier. My primary care doctor does not believe in eating zero carbs so I don’t discuss it with him that much because he gets upset but I don’t care. I know that he doesn’t know any better and that study that you’re talking about I heard about this one years ago and I’ve told many people about it when they asked me about my diet. I do get funny faces and questions when I eat just meat in public. But my family sees it works actually my own mother and sister thought that I was taking the shot because I lost so much weight but I would never do that. I think it’s cheating and I think those shots are dangerous. That’s my story there are other smaller things that have improved in my health, but this is gonna be too long. Thank you Dr. Hampton! Thank you for spreading awareness and information to change lives. God bless.

I have been carnivore for 1 year and 4 months. In the first 14 weeks carnivore had reversed my fatty liver disease. By 22 weeks I had lost 47lbs. I was able to reduce the calibre of my t2diabetes meds and am now in normal range for hba1c for the first time after years on a higher calibre med. I have been able to come off blood pressure meds and all of the meds I was on for rapid a-fibrillation of the heart. My heart is still irregular at this point but instead of it reaching at times a resting rate of 130-160 it now sits in the 60s 70s and 80s. My dermatitis is for the most part gone. Depression and anxiety are much improved. Fibro myalgia pain is much improved. Though I still have a badly arthritic hip and therefore still can't exercise much. Despite the lack of exercise my muscle mass has dramatically increased. My triglycerides have gone from 7.8mmol/L to 1.8mmol/L and HDL is now higher than it has ever been. Brain fog is dramatically improved. My calcium score is zero. So that is 1825 tablets per year I no longer have to pay for, swallow, or suffer the side effects from. I don't have any vitamin deficiencies. If anyone tries to tell me that fatty red meat is dangerous for me, I just have a little laugh on the inside as I know how healing it has been for me. I don't plan on ever going back to the SAD(standard American/Australian) diet. Why would I want to undo all the healing I have had?

After going through the “keto flu” I couldn’t believe how good I felt! I’ve been on it for 5 years and will never go back to feeling like I used to feel! I found that I feel the best eating meat from ruminant animals (animals with 4-chambered stomachs; they ferment and process their food more, removing toxins. -beef, lamb, bison, deer). I cannot tolerate pork, eggs and dairy (all cause achiness). I can tolerate chicken occasionally.

Not only did I rid myself of the fat around my midsection that happened following my radical hysterectomy and immediate onset menopause, but my labs improved dramatically…and…bonus for me: Chronic arthritis pain in my joints *GONE*. I feel better at 59 than I did at 49. I no longer crave sweets or carbs. In fact, should I have the urge for a sweet snack, I typically don’t finish it because I find it horribly too sweet to enjoy. To note, my original Oncologist NEVER ONCE questioned my diet…thankfully she relocated out of my area and I was blessed with this European trained oncologist who focus’s on the patients diet and lifestyle as a way to heal the body in addition to the traditional treatment methods. He was a gift to me.

I have not had a veggie in a year and also have been more aware of spices and seed oils when dining out. My lifetime migraines are gone (except when msg or seed oils sneak in). I definitely like the "elimination" part of carnivore to truly see what foods are affecting you. I do not eat pork anymore and chicken only pasture raised on occasion. I like ribeye and New York with butter! 3 eggs with 3 added yolks a day and i do drink coffee with heavy cream (no auto immune issues). Labs are optimal and my testosterone improved by 140 pts so i was able to lower my hrt!

I do drink coffee with heavy cream , and I do have unsalted almonds and pecans, but I do everything I can to avoid industrial seed oils when on the road. No more gum bleeding, (my dentist hates me), no more eczema, no more joint pain. Sometimes I will have liver, elk, and salmon, cod or sardines, but I try to make sure they are packed in water rather than seed oils. They will lie to you when they say olive oil when they mix in vegetable oil with it. We have only consumed seed oils for the last 80 to 100 years in our entire human history. I have traded the ‘boredom’ of this lifestyle for the boredom of doctors, dentists, pharmacists, laboratories, and the time involved in dealing with them. Since all I eat is the above, my grocery budget has gone down despite extreme inflation in the grocery store.

Since I was only 42 years old it came as a huge shock since I’ve always maintained an athletic muscular build and my diet was very healthy for today’s standards. No fast food at all, no soft drinks, whole foods etc… My only issue was overeating which I’ve almost got beat. The cardiologist naturally diagnosed me with heart disease and cardiovascular disease and put me on a statin. I know the statin is bad but my cholesterol is well under control and I’ll fight that fight later. I am still struggling with weight loss even though I’ve been exercising regularly and eating a well balanced diet of Whole Foods regularly. I am seriously considering carnivore but everything I read about for people with heart disease and cardiovascular disease strongly recommend against it. I feel I am getting incorrect information and the carnivore diet might actually be my best option. Can you provide your thoughts on what I should do?

I know the feeling- I flew out to Washington State to see my daughter and grandkids for Christmas and returned two days ago. While there, I was off Carnivore for a week. Felt like crap at the end of it. Am back on now, but going Lion as it turns out I am highly sensitive to any carbohydrates in my diet. I realized just how insidious the sugar industry can be, as well as its infiltration of the food industry. For me, getting it all gone is the only clear answer. Sugar or its equivalent is in almost everything and I'm trying to reverse NAFLD and lose about 80 more pounds- my first two months on carnivore helped me shed 50 pounds. Time for round two.

I feel great on carnivore. In fact, I feel better on carnivore than I ever have and I’m a senior. Over the years, I tried all kinds of things to rein in my thyroid issues and lose weight. Keto helped a lot but carnivore is a game changer. Admittedly Christmas has been a challenge with all the traditional food around. My kitchen was the center for all things holiday. It’s interesting that I could resist desserts but did partake in some sweet potatoes, some sliced apple on salad and nuts. More coffee than usual was needed to resist a few treats. I love the holidays but was happy the family came in last night to help eat leftovers so we can get back to our normal meat and eggs. I need to get back at it so I still fit in the smaller size clothes that I received for Christmas gifts. 😊

Didn’t know how to overcome it and fell into old habits hard. Trying to get back to it now but won’t do lion’s diet. Suggestions always welcomed. Thank you
@DrTonyHamptonАй бұрын
Developing a meat aversion on the Lion Diet can happen, especially if it’s your sole food source for an extended period. Try varying your preparation methods (grilling, slow-cooking, air-frying) or using different cuts to make it more appealing. Taking a short break or reintroducing small amounts of other low-reactivity foods like bone broth, lamb, or fish might also help reset your palate. If it persists, consulting a healthcare professional or dietitian experienced in elimination diets may be beneficial to address any underlying issues.

@CarnivoreHipposinBikinisАй бұрын
When you get bored of one thing, do something else. It's not meat aversion. It's boredom. The lion leaves the rest for the scavengers and gets a fresh animal. Do the same thing! Forget about meals & recipes & timings & macros... Eat what you like, same thing every day. If you get averse, find something else. If nothing appeals to me I eat sour cream until something bloodied appeals again. We have generations of social conditioning around meals and food. Social rules & regulations. Conformity is scary to let go of. The lion will eat whatever it catches. But only eat what it needs... That's how you do the lion diet! Does that make sense?

It is important to vary the cuts and the species, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese. Use ghee or clarified butter for high temperatures, include organs and skin from time to time, also consider bone marrow. If the diet is made only of muscles, this can be bad, and this can have not enough fats (as in essential fatty acids) also consider choosing grass fed, range, freedom, line-caught fish : because all animal products that are rich in antibiotics, animals that are raised close together and do not see sunlight are sick and will make you sick, and this kind of farming pollute and depletes the soil and create resistant bacteria (superbugs) etc. Also know that correct natural organic farming : the animals are contributing to make rich soils with worms and microbiology that deliver nice minerals to plants they will eat later. Beef is HERBIVORE and do not want to eat grain. Corn and wheat are the worst polluted and distorted agriculture possible. You basically eat glyphosate and deplete soil from the healthy straw that should be longer length and left on the ground to nourish the soil back after harvest. What you request, what you buy will force them to do the right thing. 2 years ago I would have insulted you for not caring for problem such as climate change and the anthropocene, but my health and mental clarity benefit so much from meat that I now understand it is a much bigger issue and need nuance in the reasoning. Please promote organinc, grass fed, etc. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Dr. Hampton, What keeps a person on carnivore from entering asoketodosis? I am not skeptical but since it is deadly, I would like to be more informed. Thank you, Glenn
@DrTonyHamptonАй бұрын
Ketoacidosis and nutritional ketosis are very different states. Ketoacidosis occurs when insulin is extremely low (like in uncontrolled Type 1 diabetes), leading to dangerously high blood glucose and ketone levels, which make the blood highly acidic. Nutritional ketosis, on the other hand, happens when insulin is low enough to allow the body to use fat for fuel, producing ketones in a safe, controlled range. People on a ketogenic or carnivore diet maintain normal blood glucose and moderate ketone levels, so ketoacidosis isn’t a risk for them unless they have a condition like Type 1 diabetes.

So I have been almost full carnivore for over a year now. Though I still eat, romaine, lettuce, avocados, cucumbers, and zucchini (Small evening salad), Other than that, it’s been beef, lamb, eggs, sardines, bacon, butter ghee and tallow. It has alleviated severe osteoarthritis pain in my spine, my bones still move all over the place, but I have significantly less pain daily. After 20 years of suffering, I’ll take 10 years of this diet, even if it kills me, because I feel so good on it. One problem I have to solve, I seem to be histamine intolerant. I have had to add DOA, And liposomal vitamin C, Betaine HCL (To increase stomach acid, hopefully killing histamines before reaching my small intestine)… My rash is getting better but it is taking time. Vitamin C deficiency developed. I think over this last year because I am not 100% carnivore maybe? The other problem is America’s meats are full of histamines, everything is old and not fresh. I am watching my histamine intake, salt, only no more spices, frozen meat cooked quickly, and no more bacon 🥓 smh… I have energy all day long like he described. I feel great just trying to solve this one issue….
@Epona52Ай бұрын
Regarding Vitamin C - we actually need very little with meat, but require quite a bit more to digest and process vegetables. Someone did an excellent video explaining why - maybe Bart Kay. It had something to do with competing for receptors in the cells. At any rate - I would suggest doing a 30-day challenge, doing meat and water only - possibly even lion diet - and see what happens. There's some evidence that the last 5% that you clear out of your diet makes far more than a 5% difference in the results you get.

Sorry did I misunderstand that the guys came back from living with the Inuit and were used to eating fish with the oils/fat that comes with it ? So their body was used to this fat/protein diet. Di you clad fish and seafoods of all fish and crustaceans as “meat” as well it only COW meat as that is all you mentioned ??

You can further optimize this diet and drink a minimum of 3 liters water with 3 full teaspoons Celtic Seasalt per day, instead of only pure water. You can slowly raise the amount of salt. I myself use about 20 to 25 grams salt a day for almost 4 years now. Give it a try and you will notice a lot of benefits!

You absolutely right. And water with salt is easier to drink more. I mix my electrolytes myself 1, sodium 20 tsp 2. Magnesium malate 10 tsp 3. Potassium chloride 1.5 tsp 3/4 tsp daily. No maltodextrin (LMNT) Lol

@@borispetkau1246 Yes and personally I prefer to drink the plasma (water + seasalt) warm.

@@borispetkau1246thx for mentioning LMNT. Did you see that pathetic apology the CEO gave on maybe Dr Berry's pod? I have half a box in my reject pile... My body said right away, don't consume that junk. Cheers

I use 3 kinds of salt: Celtic Sea, Pink, and Redmonds Real. I like the "taste" of each on the different foods and drinks. But I have found I feel much better after I started on Lugol's Iodine. It improved my sleep greatly.

5 year carnivore (68yo)with a few slip ups for vacation and family events.I believe a person could live on 80/20 hamburger alone. A cup of coffee with 1/2 and 1/2 and red wine with a steak at dinner are my cheats but I am full of energy and loving the simplicity of meal planning.

Ribeye and ground beef are my favorites, been on carnivore 1 year. It cleared up all symptoms of diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and planter faceitis. And more…

Two of my favorites as well

Not sure about long term effects, but there are plenty of people commenting that eating carnivore had helped them greatly. I've been eating low carb for a month and I've managed to get my fasting blood glucose down to 90. I have not been below 100 for months.

When you feel ready, try Carnivore and see how you like it and how it makes you feel. I also like that it's simple.

I am willing to see how it goes. It has changed my life.

You should look up the Canadian rancher Maggie - she's in her 80's, been carnivore some 60+ years - lean, energetic, still out wrangling cattle and throwing hay bales, and looks 20 years younger than her age.
