Honestly, I would hire an attorney at this point. It becomes to the point. Enough is enough. What u r going through is a tumultuous round of medical negligence and they r taking advantage of you. And in the medical world, it's just NOT OK. They need to be held liable, because they will continue to display poor care if not intervened. I wish u all the best and wish I could give u so many hugs right now. I'm rooting for u to return to a 100% healthy life. U deserve it! Also. Many prayers, u r one kick a** fighting woman, cheers!

I totally agree with you! If this happened in the UK, they would never get away with it! I was bullied by an agency nurse when I was in hospital with COVID back in January. I was a fall risk & she ignored this because she didn't want to deal with my commode. She forced me to go to the bathrooms, which put my safety at risk. As soon as the hospital matron found out about it, this nurse was banned from working at the hospital until she has documents proving that she's been through additional training & discipline supplied by the agency. Here in the UK, a patient isn't closed up until the instruments have all been accounted for to prevent abuse like this happening. Romee, please hire a lawyer! The way you've been treated is disgusting!

Once you lawyer up, there is not one surgeon that will want to help you. What you want is a surgeon that acknowledges its mistakes and is willing to fix them. The third cause of death in the USA is medical mistakes. Sadly, surgical mistakes are routine. Joan Rivers preached the importance of finding a good surgeon, how to find a good surgeon. Still, her " good " surgeon killed her.

@@SuperMissblueeyes that nurse sounds awful. Glad she was banned from the hospital so she can't treat any other patients poorly like she did you. I'm in the UK and bad things happen too in hospital theatres. my mum had what was supposed to be a simple key hole surgery to remove her gall bladder and ended up nearly dying as the surgeon stitched her bowel and liver together and didn't find out till 5 days later after she was throwing green bile up constantly every 2 minutes. Now she has advanced liver disease caused by this. She should of sued but didn't. So many bad mistakes happen.

I would absolutely get a picture of the “part” that might be in your body. Including a description of the dimensions and what material(s) it is made of. Before you have an MRI, make sure the technician or your doctor gives you WRITTEN confirmation that this “part” won’t cause you any harm! And in the US, this would be cause for a lawsuit, and would be settled out of court for probably a pretty big amount. So sorry this happened to you!

Some radiographers won’t let you go into an MRI unless they know what it is. I’m guessing they don’t want to run a CT on you due to ionising radiation, but it’s still a good idea to get a written description of the object, and what it is made of. Doctors don’t really know much about MRI safe practice so I would not take your doctor’s word for it.

One thing which I do hope the hospital warned you about is to make sure that you see the doctor if you have any unexplained fevers, because that instrument can act as a "reservoir" of infection, even if it's many years out. eh as an MRI technologist, I don't know that I agree. A microscopic piece of metal can cause a complication within the body in a magnet field such as an MRI. There has been study after study after study on this. I would ask for a second opinion before ever getting an MRI
@fluoxethine3 жыл бұрын
so was that thing metal or not dear Romee?
@anonymouse9913 жыл бұрын
As a RN in acute care, I agree with you. There are specific questions I ask every patient that is going to be getting a MRI one being could there be any metal objects, fragments, or implants in your body and if they are unsure additional imaging is done and if there is a risk the head of MRI can refuse to do the MRI. With this type of flag on her account, I would image she would be flagged for future MRI's due to liability and risk factors. OR instruments are metal and there are specific tools used to help find said instruments such as OR Attractor Magnet. An MRI is a huge magnet. This situation is and her entire health journey is unbelievable and piss poor to say the least.

What happened to you, kind of happened to me. I'm in the US & had my gallbladder removed 7 years ago. The surgery seemed to go smoothly. No one talked to me about a missing instrument or anything. About 6 months later, I get a call from some higher up @ the hospital telling me that there was a surgical instrument unaccounted for from the surgery before mine. They had no clue what happened to it. The possibility of it being used in my surgery was low, but they couldn't rule it out. So I had to go through 1 year of testing for Aids, hepatitis & something else. This person seemed like she wanted to do anything I asked. Probably because they potentially had a huge lawsuit on their hands. But the year went by & I remained clear. Thank God! I understand how you felt. I have been through so much being chronically ill & then this happened. It was the last time I had surgery @ that hospital. It wasn't my 1st rodeo with them, but it seemed to get worse each time. So I was done with them. Take care Romee! I actually love your hair. Its an adorable pixie cut. 💗💗💗

To answer your question "What is important for you in a relationship" I say: Communication, Trust and Complicity. Not sure the last word translates well from french to english but in the sense I mean it, it's about being on the same page in general. Same place in personal growth, same sense of humor or one that matches well with the other, having this kind of best friend vibe with your significant other most of the time, etc. The point you brought to the table "Boundaries" is very right too. Respect and understanding of the boundaries is absolutely a must.

Hi Romy, I worked in the OR and ER for a major hospital here in the States. Let me tell you - losing instruments and sponges (used to soak up blood inside your body cavity when they're operating) is VERY COMMON. There are a lot of lawsuits here around that because it is a form of medical malpractice (the technicians are supposed to do a count before and after surgery to account for EVERYTHING used during the surgery (they also charge based on this). If the count is off, then guess what - they left it in you. And they should have known before closing you up.

They took the xray to see if they could detect the piece of instrument, which means that the instrument will be radiopaque (very white on an xray). Generally this would have shown up very clearly on the xray of your body. I'm assuming the only reason why they even informed you is because they couldn't find it on the floor/theatre bed and it is protocol, not because they actually think it might be inside of your body. We have all lost a little butterfly from an earring stud or whatever if it falls on the floor, it is easy to loose small things that fall and roll away. If it was inside of you it would have shown on the xray, and if it something that isn't visible on xrays then they wouldn't even have bothered to take the xray. Hope this makes sense and gives you some peace of mind about it.
@majcherj13 жыл бұрын
Or, the piece is in there and the radiologist who read the film missed it. Or, it is plastic and near the same density as bone, so could easily be missed, competent radiologist or not. Not everything shows up on an x-ray!
@str19873 жыл бұрын
@@majcherj1 Maybe they missed it, also I agree not everything is visible on radiographs, but my point was that if it isn't something of density that would show up on the radiograph they would probably not have even taken one at all. The ALARA principle and all that. I would also hope that seeing as it is a first world country that the radiograph would be digital and therefore easily enlarged and contrasts and sharpness adjusted via the acquisition software to allow easier location of the object even if it is of similar density. If it was not metal and neutral or radiolucent radiographically (some plastics are heavily radiopaque) and it will likely show on MRI and they would have sent her for an MRI instead.
@majcherj13 жыл бұрын
@@str1987 My overarching point is that they need to give her more details about precisely what that “piece” or “part” is. She should not have to trust them to know what is safe for her. The uncertainty is not something a patient should have to endure. And how would a doctor know exactly how radiopaque some random piece of plastic is? What doctors “should have” or “would have” (and would have” is unknowable by us) done is not anything she should have to rely on, especially, since what they “should” have done is not lost part of a surgical instrument in the first place.
@str19873 жыл бұрын
@@majcherj1 I am sure they gave her more details than what she said in the video, but I am sure she appreciates your concern. I was just trying to give her some peace of mind, I remove separated instruments from patients for a living so I have some insight into the thought process of locating and removing them. Of course not everyone is the same and I only offered an informed opinion. And yes ideally the instrument should not have separated in the first place, but surgical instruments are not indestructible and doctors aren't gods, so one should be realistic about complication management with all things considered. Also it will never be a "random" piece of plastic, it would be a surgical instrument, so yes the doctor would likely know the radiographic density thereof. And if not known by heart it would be possible to find the information easily. If you don't trust your doctor to manage complications you sure shouldn't trust them to treat you at all for anything. Thanks for the discussion, I will be bowing out now.
@plumdutchess3 жыл бұрын
@@majcherj1 OP clearly stated that they wouldn't have bothered with the x-ray if they weren't sure it'd show up. They know what it is, it's missing. So they know if it would show up.

Your happiness with your new storage for appliances (while waiting for news on your cancer journey) is just what I needed to remind me that all progress should be celebrated not measured. It’s something I have taken for granted too often. Thank you from a fellow survivor. Cause no matter what, that’s what we are!!

Wow Romee you are right about the instrument possibly in your body. I am sorry it happened to you but happy they did all they humanly could to locate it. Good they told you. Like you need anything else wow! Thank you for the wonderful Native Discount! OMG I jumped on it and I cannot wait til it comes. They sent me such a cute email confirmation! I also ordered from the limited addition. And I did order the Oatmeal Latte. Sounds so good. Thank you for the sweet blessing that I really needed today! ❤️🙏🌺😘

Romee, your hairstyle looks very nice and really suits you. I am sorry that the little instrument got stuck during your lung surgery. I hope that they can find a solution.

So funny that Native sponsored your video, I just bought the coconut vanilla and it’s amazing. My skin feels amazing after using this stuff. But, I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I follow you every step of the way and wish you all the best. You are so sweet. Merry Christmas Romee!! 🎄

It feels so good when you have the energy to get things done, doesn't it? I'll bet you couldn't help staring at the shelf with your games on it, and enjoying not having to see your air fryer/toaster, etc. You did good! 😁

You poor girl, it's just one nightmare after another! Through it all, though, you have been one tough cookie & your sense of humor have been amazing = I think it has help you endure dealing with your health struggles & the frustration from your health care system! Keep fighting and I'll keep praying for you!

I have a clip left over from when I had my cancer surgery. I didn’t find out until many years later. You can actually see it on an x-ray, and I have always mentioned it when I have an MRI, but it’s been many many years and I haven’t had any trouble.

Personally? I would move the kettle...it's going to boil and create condensation under the air fryer. So, switch...toaster and kettle, below, air fryer. Be well Romee!

I’m happy to see you up and about! Nice setup in the kitchen, just be careful with your watercooker and the steam hitting the air-fryer!
