You are very generous with your reviews 😀. There were a TON of great games on Commodore, but I don't think these were it. I remember wishing I had all the money in the world so I could buy and play them all...but I think I was more than blessed with what I had. Aliens looks curious, playable, but would probably get a bit old fast for me. Top Gun was painful on the eyes. Spitfire Attack on Atari 2600 was surprisingly a lot of fun in this genre and age. I had a large number of games on blank label or numbered disks, so I know what you mean about mystery games. A lot of them even had the wrong title, sometimes intentionally for fear of copyright I'm sure. Great video! Got to see new stuff and learn a few things too.

Hey thanks for watching! I do have rose colored glasses for these games. I just enjoy going back through my old collection. I know they are not all classics but but good or bad they are a blast to go back and look at and play. I really did enjoy Top Gun and playing it in 2 player mode. Love the feedback and hope to hear from you some more!

Pretty cool games, I'm definitely a fan of 80's movies (they don't make them like they used to) and I feel right at home seeing these movie-based games. Aliens and Top Gun are such classic movies and it's so great to relive memories through these C64 games!

I had the Activision Aliens game...which was more like a collection of mini-games. Still pretty fun though. I had a weird affinity for the Smurfs back in the day, but never came across that clone game on the C64. It always amazes me how many games I missed then...even though I had at least a couple hundred disks filled with games.

Hey Jerry, I have that Aliens game it will come up eventually. Smurfs is fun on the colecovision. This one meh, it got buggy the more I played it. The C64 game list does seem never ending. Which is good for me making videos. I enjoy them all good or bad just to check them out again. As for your Eagles, hey at least they made it to the show and had a chance. What a game!

Yeah, it's a shame our defense decided not to show up in the second half...and we got out-coached by Big Red (Andy Reid) as well. The bullshit penalty at the end of the game was just icing on the cake. 🤷‍♂️

Aliens - I never had this game back then. I've tried playing it since then and find the room displays confusing. I understand that you're looking at the four walls of a room, but it's not visually apparent enough for me, so it just ends up looking like one never-ending corridor. I've also seen the full map to the game and it looks like it would take you forever to find your way through it from scratch. Plus I've read that later, the aliens can seal the doors and you have to use limited resources to blow them open. I had the Activision game, which I eventually managed to complete without losing a single life. Express Raider - Something I can't help noticing about all the games involving trains, which are supposedly set in the American west: They all have European style trains.

Aliens is difficult to navigate without a map. Then it is still hard! I've never noticed that about the train but now that you mention it, too funny!

I was expecting the other Aliens game (Activision). It was a less focused game, mixing different styles of gameplay in mini-games. But even so, I thought it was a lot of fun. I really liked the ability to keep shooting in one direction while moving in other directions. And the flame thrower mini-game was weirdly based on Stampede (an earlier Activision Atari 2600 game with a completely different theme). I never knew there was a Smurfs clone on the C64. In retrospect, there were a lot of flip screen jumping games like that back then, but none quite captured the magic of Snoopy. No wait. Did I say Snoopy? I meant Pitfall.

So, there is a game for the C64 called Deathmaster - The Dungeons of Death, but it's a text based RPG. The game you showed is a mystery to me, though.

Never head of Death Master but that games is called Nexus pronounced by Nexus and came in a snazzy grey box. I always thought it looked quite interesting but reviews were middling to poor. Anyway glad to have solved that mystery for you. At last my useless trivia comes in handy 🙂 Damn just seen you've already been told 😞

Aliens was a pretty tense, atmoshperic game, although a bit clunky to control. Top Gun was too basic on the C64, I think Ace 2 was a much better rendition of an arcade dogfight game and its music, too, was closer to a Top Gun feel (eventhough people don't like Ace 2 too much, because the first Ace was more of a simulator and this one was a 'shooter'). Haven't played the rest, but they were cool to see.

Have you ever made your original floppies (as .nib or .g64) available to download? I know I can get all the games separately via various sources but it would be interesting seeing some bootleg floppies from back in the day. I have a few of my own but not too many.

I bought Aliens and whilst i loved it and thought it was the best possible idea for an Aliens games especially in first person. Not to be confused with the American version made at the same time. That release also got a later release in the uk. Not sure the fps ever did get a usa release? Anyway the uk one i found really hard even with a map. I used to try and find my way to the armory and basically camp there 🙂 At times you could hear an alien or face hugger and you desperately try to scroll round tyo kill it before it pounced was very tense! You felt like the useless Gorman sat in the APC vehicle looking at the display as your teams life signs died 😞
