My wife and I are both locked out -- when we try to buy Crysta, it locks us in a loop where it prompts us to confirm or update our address (as in, it doesn't even get to a payment screen). When we try to confirm, it rejects the confirmation as an invalid address ... We tried buying 60-day game time cards, and it looked like we'd be able to input the code, but ... NOPE. the next screen after showing it'll extend for 60 days locks us right back in that same loop. We've been playing since 2014, we each have personal estates as well as our guild hall, and we're less than a week from them being demolished. I contacted support, and they act as if they don't KNOW that's a problem on their end, and will not do ANYTHING to protect our housing from THEIR SCREWUP!

That's not new actually. Weird region lock on SE is the reason I had to rebuy ARR, that I already owned but on an EU account now that I live in Japan. Impossible to change the region and payment system even back then :/. Even now, I have to pay through steam wallet. Cause they refuse my japanese card (but that might be a combination of steam limitation + very bad UI)

As someone who's company recently also changed their payment system to force address matching, for us it was a security thing to prevent fraud and to be in-line with payment validation regulations from banks and shit. We were able to set how strict the matching had to be, and at first it was set way too high so even a slight deviation from how it appears in the Royal Mail database caused it to fail. It took a long time for us to get to a point where more payments were being accepted than denied, and even now there are still issues where people's addresses don't exist in the RM database or the customer thinks their address is formatted differently to how RM have it and thus it fails. And yes, it was (and still sometimes is) a shit show for us too and I work for a UK company that only accept card payments from UK addresses. I can't even imagine how much worse it would be if we accepted overseas ones too. My payment method for 14 is a recurring Visa Debit payment. If I'm lucky, it will be fine until my card expires, but they better have their shit together when I have to add a new card.

The biggest issue I have is that I cannot change region or country. Citizens of EU can move and work freely in other EU countries, but now I'm unable to add an address that is current one simply because I no longer live in the same country I lived before. Some of my previous co-workers moved to USA due to work, there are no means to change that at all. If there was a paid method (similar to how server transfer works) to transfer your account's country/region, I'd gladly do that to avoid all of this. The system itself is against anybody moving outside of their country of origin even to another approved region.

Dealing with Mog station is like having to deal with nividia's old control panel. Should be able to buy the game and its expansion on mog station. The problem is they are using really old code from the early 2000's and would pretty much need to make an entirely new system and be able to transfer everyone's data over. Honestly don't think they would be able to.

I use privacy as a 3rd party card provider. Privacy allows you to make cards and link your privacy account to your bank or debit card. I do this because discover bank is my bank, and mogstation didn't work with discover Network. So i use privacy as the middleman. Also it's good for keeping your debit card info safe. Privacy also let's you use any address you want using their cards, so no matter what i put in as my address on mogstation, privacy will accept it.

This is also even worst for people in different countries then their registration country region. For Example Lets say your account is in the United States but you are in Canada it is literally impossible for you to enter the correct address as it will not let you enter a Canadian Postal Code as it will ask for a US Zip Code and you cannot enter the correct Canadian Province as it will ask for a US State instead of Canadian Province. The majority of these issues would be resolved if they allowed players to change their Country settings.

I pay through steam so it always works but the Zip code has to match a US state and in the City and Address line I just entered my full Canadian address. Including Canadian postal code and province plus country.

I purchased a prepaid visa, bought a 60-day code from GameStop, and went to apply the code ... still blocked by their broken "verification". 10 years of loyalty, in-game wedding, retainers, premium items, and we're now going to lose our private estates and grand company hall to their excessive and stupid "verification". I suspect many others are going to as well, and they know there's a massive problem, but won't do anything.

they should remove address for the account/payments, when I started playing FFXIV I was living state side, I stopped playing for a couple of years and now I live overseas, when I tried to add my new card for the sub, I was not able to do it, thankfully the crysta option does take my payment info, but I can not do the auto-sub and I need to keep buying crysta every month. Also, when they made the changes and asked people to confirm their address, I was unable to change to a different country, ended up having to add my cousin's address.

This seems like a legal/compliance issue... The have to make sure sales taxes/VAT are paid to the correct country. Maybe some SEA country raised the issue with Square or FFXIV or whatever not correctly collecting local tax because they were allowing people to register their account with a country that allowed them to avoid taxes. I worked for a large international corporation as an accountant, and they literally had a different legal entity in every country they operated and there had to be a clear way to show that money earned/paid in a country was reported correctly for tax purposes. This was a non-profit, so it was probably easier for them to open multiple business units. There are ways to allow international transactions, so you don't need to have a hundred different legal entities, but they need some kind of processor who is able to correctly handle transactions in all the different countries. This is also related to security, not just collecting taxes... using a USA based credit card to make a purchase for an account in Asia sets off red flags from a security standpoint because there's a lot of credit card fraud related to those countries.

I tried to buy an item on the mogstation and it would not accept my Canadian address even though it is the one on my credit card. I had to put in a previous address for it to work. I then couldn't change my address on my account to the correct address and they had to manually change it.... hopefully I will be ok now.

It took over a week to get a Square Enix account with considerable help from their customer support doing things manually from their end and way too much sensitive secure information exchanged. Things like their account creation or edit accepting an email address (and corresponding with me on it) that was apparently too long for other of their systems such as when setting password and needing an email to validate against. It wouldn't send the email because the address was too long according to their horrible software. This of-course caused the account to be completely unusable until they fixed it manually.

I was trying to re-sub after not playing for a few months and I kept getting the message "card unavailable." I contacted support and I just received a generic response back stating the typical "use another method of payment". I ended up buying crysta through amazon, which uses the same card SE is denying. However, there are issues with Visa (both debit and credit), Mastercard (both debit and credit), some people cannot even purchase things with Paypal/Amazon Pay that are all listed as available payment methods. However, they only posted on NA lodestone about Visa debit cards, which is only a fraction of the issue and affects more than NA or Visa debit cards.

Have been using my debit card for years now, but I usually sub on a per month basis, canceling the sub as soon as it goes through as I didn't want recurring subs so I can tap out should I wish for a break. I had issues from time to time not being able to use my card for some reason. Thank goodness was able to pre-order Dawntrail before the update happened. I was able to resolve it using Paypal to charge my card to buy Crysta (card payments still worked but hit or miss), and post-update, this is the only way I am able to resub this month. Prolly lucked out this time, but I am just crossing my fingers that I might be able to re-purchase Crysta next month. Further annoyance comes in as some of my friends really wanted to try FFXIV but only got frustrated with the Account Creation (Savage).

I cannot buy the expansion because the email at the store does not sync with the email at Square Enix. The email at the store is not valid and there is no way to change it therefore there is no way to buy the expansion since they send digital download info to the email the STORE (not the MEMBERS or MOG) has. The email at the store is the one you created (in some cases) more than a decade ago and can never ever ever be changed. edit for clarity: I login to the store with my correct (working) email. When I try to buy the expansion it says it will send it to my old email which has no association on my accounts except at the store where it cannot be changed. REMEMBER: I log into the store with my correct email not the one they insist on sending my digital download to. I cannot even create a "new" Square Enix Store account because it says it already exists even though they themselves refuse to use my correct email for purchase despite using it for logging in and other communications. Totally Crazy.

I remember asking the support team once if my region could be changed from NA to EU and they said it was not possible, but so far, my subscription has not been cancelled over it and I can still buy ingame items from the online store. I'm in the US. Refuse to get a time card because I have the legacy price. And the only thing I could get to work was crysta using Amazon pay. It's so frustrating. Prior to this. I just always subbed with my card directly.

i have a recurring sub, and yesterday trying to buy a game item. I had to modify the cc addy cuz the address i had before the system said they didnt exist. My work around was that i had to call my bank and tell them to add the address i had in the account. So the system would say it existed because VISA said so.

The hardest content in the entire game, is buying it. I was not aware of the South East Asia situation, but even as a European, I had a fun one. I stopped playing after SB (burnout), when a month ago, I decided to resub, I was locked out of my old account. SE support was somewhat useful, turns out my OG account had been created via xbox (never played ff on xb, so probably a tomb raider or something). For some reason, that created a US account (even tough my xbox region is set to EU), but because my game is a FR version, it now won't allow to log in to the old account. And since you cannot change your account region .... I had to create a new character, not too much of a bother since I had not played in years, and with the new player exp being so streamlined, it only took me 3 weeks to level up my main to 70+

As if "Housing Savage" wasn't hard enough, now long term players have to struggle with "MogStation Extreme" as well?! "Account Management Unreal"?! "Subscription Payment Ultimate"?! Oh gawd, I hope SE can fix this before DT releases.

I live in the US and have a US ff14 account. I just spent 2 hours trying to pay for my subscription with my USAA Visa debit card and the payment processor kept calling it invalid. You know USAA as in the bank that operates exclusively in the US and only for the family of military veterans. Had to overpay for a game time card cause I just couldn't get my debit card to work. The final straw in trying was a prompt email back from support basically saying "might be your fault, here a list of things you've probably already tried. If it doesn't work try again later lol"

I once couldn’t figure out how to re-sub for 3 days and that’s before these changes and I’m from the uk… I was going to give up. I also had an fc mate who had literal anxiety that his sub was about to expire and he didn’t know how to re-sub

I have been trying to resub and the Mog Station won't take my debit card anymore. At first when I tried resubbing when I click on next after making my selection for an entry level subscription nothing would happen. I then unregistered my debit card and when I click on next then I would get the part to enter my card information but then would get the "card not available" part. So as it stands (living in Chicago) I can't resub to FFXIV.

I also hoped they would add an option for iDEAL when it comes to countries like the Netherlands (Debit/credit card aren't really a thing here). But seeing everyone else in the world having problems. My expectations got crushed.

I’m from Singapore south east Asia and yes our country is not listed in the country selection menu when we register so we had to put an American country and previously we still able to pay subscription but only lately we unable to do so using debit card. I am not sure if this was done deliberately to remove south east Asia and the countries which are not listening the subscriptions list players from playing the game.

I htought SG counts as NA for account registration purposes. So Arthars shouldn't be having problems if he's in SG. Unless SE even manages to screw that up

It’s affecting people in the US as well and it’s not a bank issue because I’ve talked to the bank and there’s no problems on their end this is 100% a SE problem I had to create a PayPal account that I didn’t have before just to work around this issue

I live in Norway and resubbing was hell for me, I couldn't use my card, tried 5 different times over the span of a week, only thing that worked for me was since I bought the game on steam, using steam credits, but thats such a hassle, I wish square enix was better to their customers

Only solution i found is use a time card and update your address to an American sample address. The zipcode just has to match the street and just put gibberish after that. Do the address first before inputing the time card. It’s really dumb that you can only chose america when registering your address if you want to play the game in that region.

Recently upgraded an account to paid. Visa didn't work, even though the information matches billing info. Tried Paypal and it says it's "Unavailable at this time". Despite all the billing information being up to date, it wouldn't work until I switched to a Mastercard. Glad I have a couple different cards, but this isn't going to help SE in the long run.... I guess if people are having trouble, try and get a prepaid Mastercard?

I have never had a smooth sub experience with FFXIV. Each time since mid 2021 I get error messages, resulting in me trying different devices and browsers until one finally works. Proper shoddy experience and if I didn’t already love Final Fantasy, I probably would have given up trying. Im even holding off getting my Xbox player friend to join, in case all these bugs and obstacles out them off the game before they’ve even begun playing. I love FFXIV but hope they sort this mess out fast.

Ok so fun fact. I tried to do the steps to set up 2 subs for my wife and I. We play on xbox. I literally had to set up everything via my mobile browser because it would not work on xbox or on my wife’s laptop. Literally only got it to work via the iphone browser. Plus I noticed my collectors edition box (not the game) has yet to be sent and it’s been paid for over a month now. I am in NA however. Maybe someone can try this in SEA or some other place.

i live in Indonesia and there is no support for FFXIV online here, so i need to make US/NA/EU dummy email account to register and play this game, i dunno why SE block Indonesia even we can play that game well and good (no internet connection issue) but yeah i already play it for 1 year now with my NA account and all good untill DT Pre-Order open, i cant buy that expansion even i do have money to buy, because i need to buy the Pre-Order expansion from SE store not FFXIV Store and it need my dummy address (same address you registered when create your FFXIV account) the problem is, my NA/US address is dummy address that i make it long time ago and i already forget my dummy address so i cant buy DT with my Credit Card and the only way to buy is use re-seller merchant wich more expensive and not really trusted, yeah i finally buy it which more expensive and luckily the Pre-order code is work, not sure the expansion code.. so rn i still not sure if i can play DT on time or not even i already paid more money to get it (the reseller merchant said the expension code willl send to my email in 2nd july) now i just hope the merchant will remember to send the expansion code, if not i cant play DT even i already buy it... WHY SE ?!

I live in Europe and already cannot use my credit card. One day SE just blocked it, no explanation, I even checked in with the bank. My husband has the same problem (we're in the same bank, and our sub got cancelled out of the blue same day). We gotta buy the crystas to play the game, but who knows for how long this method will work... And of course all I got from support was an automated message.

The issue I’m having is I play on ps5 and I never bought the heavensword or dawntrail collectors addition due to money issues. Now I tried to get them but the moh station doesn’t list them and the ps store has them listed for full price. So I’m expected to pay $90 Canadian dollars for a glam weapon? Nah….im good

square enix joins sony in creating another helldivers 2 incident, theres a parallels phenomenon to this (sudden country based player barring), i hope all these impacted players are able to mass chargeback as much as possible and force SE to fix this

Ive had a steam sub since day one. (Bought it on ARR.) Yes.. that meanst you have to have all future expansions bought through steam. The only pain in the ass is once you buy said expansion, you have to copy the CD key and then go to Mog to register. Other than that, Ive had no problems. Tho recently, Steam made it to where you had to physically link your steam about to your SE account. And you have to have steam running to run the game. Not usually a big deal, however if your PC is struggling, using the extra resources can be make or break. Also if steam goes down for whtever reason, but your internet is still good, cant play until Steam can be connected to again.

Its really bad. I can't pay, using a Visa Debit or Visa Credit Card, from NA. Both cards I've used previously, both cards have my current address, and my address is updated. I've basically been using the same method and bank account to pay my sub for 10 years. All of a sudden I can't. So fucking stupid.

i'd be really interested in seeing SE's side - on its face it sounds like regulatory requirements but you'd think they'd have some type of solution but by virtue of how its been implemented i would think(hope) that this was something forced in due to regulatory requirements if they've been sitting on this change and testing as part of their change control its a pretty bad failure

I haven’t been able to use my credit or debit card in almost four years for my just sub. I have to use the same card to buy crysta to pay for my sub. I can use my card just fine on every other purchase. I put in 4 tickets and nothing ever came of it. I’m so happy their getting flack for this

As a Malaysian, the Irony is that we were fine from the whole Helldivers 2/PSN region situation, but SE has absolutely shafted us this time. I could buy Crysta with Paypal, but that seems to have stopped working. I think My house got demolished because I couldn't log on for a while :( Oh well. At least there are some games to play this year so hopefully SE will fix their shit (not holding my breath tho)

i don't know if this is still how it works but when i bought my copy of FF14 during 1.0 "the first month for free" the box advertised was given to you in the form of crysta rather than just giving you a months worth of sub. the only reason i was able to figure out why i couldn't log in was since my friend already playing the game told me i needed to use the crysta i got when i made the account with the CD-key since nowhere does it tell you aren't subbed and you could only see your crysta amount when going to buy more crysta or when you went to spend crysta to buy game time (the only thing to spend crysta on at the time) baffles my mind

I'm able to buy crysta and use it to buy sub as well as able to use 60 day time card. I just had to update all my addresses and my debit card on PP to reflect current address edit: If you buy DLC/expansions on steam then you get a code to put in on mog station that will give you the expansion. You don't need to buy ff again on steam. Steam just acts as a 3rd party to buy expansions.

When I moved from Canada last year, I contacted SE to change my country of residence in my SE account, and they told me it was not possible 🙃Let's hope I can keep playing the game lol

When I emailed and called to USA customer service support of square enix, they said they can’t do anything about it and told me not to pay using iPhone instead through ps4. I mean instead of resolving the issue they divert to another channel.

This must really suck... like really really suck... I was stuck for a few days many years ago and It gave me SEVERE anxiety.... thank god I don't have these issues atm. I pay using my steam wallet. which is linked to my debit card. as long as they don't remove that option... I'll be ok. (and steam doesn't change shit).

They were charging me in pounds instead of Australian dollars so I was being charged a currency exchange fee to pay them my subscription each time... Add on top of that that I found EW to be lacking in content and then their involvement with Sweet Baby inc and I cancelled my subscription. I won't be returning to the game or purchasing anything from them into the future.

If it wasnt for FF14 i would probably not buy anything from SE ever and im considering just dropping 14 and watch other people play the story which is what interests me the most
