Brando actually recorded voiceover for this before he died, but it was of such poor quality (due to his declining health), that they chose to scrap it & replace him with a voiceover artist.

He is still in the game as an easter egg tho. Brando's final performance can be heard after the mission he gets shot and you visit him in the hospital. If you hang around long enough close to his room,you get to hear Vito talking to Michael,and its the original Brando recording

This game was just so stupidly fun on the Wii. I loved flailing my arms around to throw bottles or punch people repeatedly. Especially since the Wii version has a glitch where you can rapidly punch an NPC while talking to them and it does nothing to them.
@malcolmhernandez15904 жыл бұрын
You could do the same thing to certain NPC's on PS2 as well!
@DeltaSpark84 жыл бұрын
My cousin and I have had many laughs from that glitch. It's especially fun to do on the doormen at clubs ("Have a good time!") and that crooked police sergeant that give you hit contracts. With him, just hit him with your car and hold down the target-lock button as you talk to him. Your character will automatically get him up on his knees and hold him by the collar, and as long as you keep him grabbed, you can beat the crap out of him XD Also, the first hit he gives you can be repeated. Just use the phone in the safehouse you get after completing the mission and fast travel to a different one. Then just go to where you first met him, and there he'll be again, ready to task you with throwing the same guy off the same roof!

I remember playing this one on the PS2 when I was a kid. Loved the movie. If I remember, I think this was one of the first open world games I had played. What I really loved about it, though, was that you weren't one of the main characters. You were a nobody that helped set some of the set piece movie moments up. The guy that put the pistol in its place for the hit at the resturant? You. the guy who helps stand guard at the hospital? You. The one driving after Sunny before IT happens, you. Loved it. All the extra guys in the movie become your character.

Luca Brasi was totally voiced by Garry Chalk, the Optimus Prime that 90's kids probably grew up with, since most of this was recorded in Canada, expect to hear some Scott McNeil and Michael Dobson too. Fun Fact: In The Godfather film the actor who played Luca Brasi, Lenny Montana, was actually an enforcer in the Italian mafia. Because the film was opposed heavily by the Italian-American Civil Rights League, including Joe Colombo and Frank Sinatra, the film had to make concessions including removing the word “mafia” from the script, and allowing Montana to hang around on set. Because the original actor died of a stroke, and because Montana was a 6’6” former professional wrestler, Francis Ford Coppola fell in love, and actually casted him in the movie. The scene at the wedding where Luca is frantically rehearsing what he’ll say to Don Corleone was actually a scene added by Coppola when he watched Montana, a very big fan of Marlon Brando, repeatedly practicing his lines as to not embarrass himself in front of one of his heroes.

During the mission "Intensive Care", Marlon Brando reprised the role of Don Corleone, albeit briefly. James Caan, Abe Vigoda and Robert Duvall also reprised their roles yet Al Pacino didn't reprise his role since his voice greatly changed and he gave his likeness for Scarface: The World is Yours

I really liked the Godfather game, but mainly because as you continue to gain more and more territory, you can see it expanding on your map. That sounds weird, I know, but it always made me want to continue taking over the map when I could see that it was working. It's like the old games "Gangsters", when each territory was color coded. Loads of fun.
I have The Don’s Edition for the PS3, which is the definitive edition. I’ve always been fascinated with The Godfather, and even with it’s problems, I think the game is a nice love letter to Part 1. Rest In Peace, Marlon Brando.

the line about saving your anger and taking your revenge as an adult is so good. esp since we know from The Godfather Part II what he knows about waiting for revenge. makes you wanna kiss your fingers and go MWAH _perfetto_ nice delivery too. idk if that was a line directly from Brando or not, but some of the VAs are the original actors (Caan, Duvall, and Vigoda as Sonny, Tom Hagen, and Tessio). OTOH, some are doing a good impression, and some are doing a BAD impression. Doug Abrahams does a lot of heavy lifting in the VO, and they all turned out really well. P.S. oh god, i want an organized crime godfather-type game for Vampire: The Masquerade now. "$500 in 1945 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $7,169.86 in 2020." So i guess not a millionaire per se, but that's a tidy sum of money. def a little more than pocket change. oh yeahhh the driving missions are probably the hardest in general. YEAH this game is cool. not a masterpiece, but cool. you could go either way on it. On the one hand, the gameplay is repetitive as hell, and that Barzini compound is a MOTHERFUCKER to try and crack even at high levels. OTOH, you could make Matteo Musclio the new Don of New York by the end of the game.

Ah, the Open-World game with copypasted roads/interiors and roughly 10 cars. They shouldn't have blown all their budget on the fire effects! Shitposting aside, the game was a hell of a lot of fun then and even now. I did a 100% run 7 years ago and while it was very rough it was certainly a fun experience! Game has some nice details such as in-cooperating the main player character into scenes from the movie, you even come across an FBI wanted-board/cross-section that has the player's identity on it (Even dubbing him "The Player", probably one of most blatantly anachronistic 90's terms in the whole game) and despite their efforts to get Marlon Brando into the gamer they only used one line when the don was in intensive care where he laments his own mortality. Which is even more haunting when you consider Marlon Brando voiced that while also sitting on his own extended death bed.
