One thing I did not expect were these to be placed back into service, but I was wrong. Apparently quite a few NS SD70M-2 locomotives are being placed back into service for the time being, and not too long after these were reactivated a couple weeks ago, a couple SD70M-2s found their way on the NS B10 daily turn job from Elkhart to Burns Harbor, which got me really excited. After a couple failed attempts to catch the train in the past several days, this morning I saw that one of these units NS 2670 was leading the B10 west out of Elkhart within the past couple of days, so I had a hunch it could lead out this morning as well. We went down on a whim to the yard around 11:00AM, and sure enough, NS 2670 was sitting on the point of NS B10 on the west end. After I found out there was a bit of traffic in the way, I decided I wasn't going to wait to catch one of these any longer, so I decided to stake out for awhile at Osceola. Finally around 12:45PM, NS B10 departed the yard. In the end the patience paid off today, and from a railfan perspective, it was definitely a throwback seeing one of these lead again after quite a few years!
