I think Nike did to Converse what Adidas did to Reebok. They managed to do the opposite of what the core, nostalgic fanbase is interested in. I think anything Rodman related will never release from Converse. Rodman never struck me as a money motivated person so I doubt he’d ever loan his image to rerelease the shoes 😕

I had the "true to form" retros from 2009 and honestly they weren't done very well either. They felt like bricks on your feet and they use a lot of synthetic leather on the tongue and collar that made them less comfortable. They also didn't necessarily fly off the shelves back then either. I don't mind these, as a matter of fact picked up a pair.

There was a sale at G.E.T. 's at the beach on Sloat in SF. They had a pair of 12 Magic Weapons out of box for 10.00$. Dad bought them for me. I think 86/87. Hooped all summer outside with those. They were bricks. Lasted forever.

In my opinion, I don't know why the "Protro" concept hasn't caught on with more shoes. You can retool shoes without compromising design (i.e. Kobe 1 Protro, one of my all times favorites). You're telling me a "performance retro" of the converse weapon in Magic, Bird, Isiah, etc colorways wouldn't sell?

Chris, don't feel bad buddy, Converse/Nike did this same thing with the Voltage a few years back. They made it a women's lifestyle shoe (which was super cool looking, and I wanted a pair) but they didn't offer the shoe in larger women's sizes for men to buy them and I was so sad. Had a pair of those and miss them. Come on Converse, bring back all your old basketball shoes. They will sell.

To whom it may concern. I want to add something to my first comment I made earlier. My opinion I believe they should bring back both pair of Converses and have the legendary Legends do a commercial about the Converses keep them in the original form that they are. Put more bounce inside of the tennis shoe the way they are doing these new ones. And also can we also go back to the way it was at one point of time when you were able to go in the store and see your favorite sneaker and be able to buy it. Online it's okay it's fine if you're a person that doesn't like to go out and shop. One of the things that I miss the most when I knew when a new pair of tennis shoes were coming out I got excited because I know I was going to the store and hopefully to be able to get a pair tried on walk around with it look at it and decide if I was going to get it can we start to bring some of that excitement back let us not take away some of the excitement of being able to get your favorite tennis shoe and a store and trying it on. I remember when Converse Weapons were on sale for 2 for $89 at Champs Sports back in the early-mid 2000s. Think it was a back-to-school sale. Various colorways. I had the "Bird vs. Magic" pack going into my freshman year of high school (not a legitimate pack, just the 2 pairs they both wore, haha). Absolutely loved them. These new versions are nice, minus the midsole. The leather definitely looks great. Really do wish Converse would just revamp them in the original form. Like you, I don't register to the standards of fashion in today's society, but I feel like this silhouette shouldn't have to be given that new-age treatment for Converse to make a statement and give off the impression that they're forward-thinking. That goes for a lot of other brands that tamper with classic silhouettes and try to show off their "innovative thinking".

I bought these because at the time they hadn't bought the regular weapon back yet. I bought them thinking they wouldn't look that crazy, got them and these things are basically platform shoes. Didn't care to send them back because I got them for way below retail, they're just sitting in the closet now. Thankfully I just copped the black color way of the regular Weapon since Converse had them on discount and then a 40% discount code on top of that. The CX is good for women and those hyper-fashion dude, but I just couldn't do it 😂
