That's not even going to be the core issue with the game. See that recent trailer where the horse is 'gliding' across the ground? UBI is trying to "fix" Yasuke? You can't anymore, but here's my take on it. I'm currently learning portraiture, and I had just noticed that Yasuke isn't "african" but African American as in mixed race. He's supposed to be a slave right? Why doesn't he have African features? Flat nose, big lips, high cheekbones, darker skin? Where did he get the dreadlocks? Didn't the Jamaicans make the fashion popular during the 1950s? It wasn't a hairstyle African cared about at that time. Where did Yasuke get the products to maintain his hair in ancient Japan? Ubisoft has to answer these questions.

I own every AC game on multiple platforms,; ironically, I have been waiting for an AC Japan game for so long, and even I am not going to buy this game. Ubisoft really screwed the pooch on what should have been an easy slam-dunk!

Blue Eye Samurai had an Eurasian female character forced to hide her eyes and sex to achieve her revenge. The only way she could train was watching sword-masters from afar practicing with the swords she helped make with a blind blacksmith and trying to copy them. Despite the strong female side, it got one thing right: the absolute disgust the Japanese had for foreigners. None would have ever given Mizu, the titular character, the honor of training with real samurai, so what hope does someone like Yasuke have? Only in fiction, but Ubislop tries to say it's real history.

I think it’s impossible to fix this game within less than a year. The only way to fix it would be to completely remove yasuke and put in a Japanese male protagonist, fix the female protagonist’s appearance to make her look more feminine or just completely remove her, fix the plethora of miscellaneous mistakes, and redo all the voice lines to fit the changes. And with the current situation at ubi, I really doubt they are willing to dish out the money needed to truly fix shadows. They’re more than likely just hoping the delay to February will be enough time for people to forget all the controversy surrounding shadows. And they’re probably hoping the annoying activists will run extreme defense for it during black history month.

Ubisoft probably won't be able to fix the situation by letting Yasuke go. But even if Yasuke launches AC Shadows while he's still African American, they have a terrible future ahead of them. Wouldn't it be better to stop development and see if we can cut our losses?

-Yasuke was in Japan for about a year. -Nobunaga and Yasuke seemed close to everyone around them. -Whether he was a samurai, or bushi is not clear but people around Nobunaga thought he was going to be made a lord. -Wasn't present when Nobunaga was killed. -Fought to defend Nobunaga's only son and failed. -Disappears from history after being spared. I feel like that's a good enough story by itself.

If they were going to change something significant to appease fans, I think they would have changed the release date to something much further out. I think the things they’re changing are related to bugs and features, not a design overhaul. If they actually are changing the design significantly, then I think the release date will have to be pushed out at least 6 months. It’s a not insignificant amount of work required. Huge gaming studios cannot pivot quickly.
