Being from Texas, they (Dime & Vin) were huge Cowboys fans. As far as live, they put on one hell of a show. Great guys too. Spent a handful of hours backstage after the one and only time I saw Pantera live. Dime was the most genuine, down to earth, rockstar I've ever met. Such an amazing guy, treated us like he'd known us since grade school. RIP Dime and Vin. You are missed.

Pantera have been my favourite band since the early 90s, I was a drummer and starting out with guitar back then. when you have such synchronisation between Dime (RIP) on guitar and his brother Vinnie (RIP) on Drums it just drives the groove so hard, Metal didn't groove like this until these dude's showed up.

in many Years i diden't Think about Phill A. as so Important as the Brothers, but over the years its been clear to me that no other could give it that Kick ass attittude as Phill did He just fittet perfectly. and the Bassist, just learned his name recently..Rex ??? the way he filled out the empty space that could be pressent with one guitar is damn cool.
@Kipperbob
@Kipperbob 3 жыл бұрын
@@frankhermansen243 true, I like your observations, Phil was an excellent vocalist and a great stage performer, it's just a damn shame that the drugs took him from the band, I've lost a couple of bandmates to Alcoholism, it's difficult to maintain a professional relationship with someone who puts their addiction first. And yes It takes a good bassist to step up when the Guitar solo kicks off, all my favourite bands have been bands with one guitarist, Cream, Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, and of course ZZ Top who recently lost their Bassist, RIP Dusty. I think the simplicity of just having bass guitar and drums makes it necessary for the whole band to step up to the plate and perform,

Top 3!!! To be sure, this song is about their declaration that they were going to take over the metal scene and dominate live at the time (1990). It became a rule that you didn’t follow PANTERA live; they’d crush anyone live with their intensity and fan energy. No one could match their live energy. Phil had complete command and authority over the crowd. I saw them live in 2000 (their last tour). React to “Hellbound” pretty please. Lex will love the heaviness. 🤘

I don't think the Dallas Cowboys would associate their "wholesome" image with the debauchery Pantera was involved in. "Black Tooth!"

That consistency you like is considered "Groove" which is why Pantera is sometimes called Groove metal... its the perfect feeling for mosh pits too! Pantera had a lot of groove.

This was actually the 2nd album with vocalist Phil Anselmo. PanterA had a few more before Phil came to the band in 1988. But this is the one in 1990, that put them on the Power Groove thrash metal scene! 🤠's From🔥! 🎸🤘🏼

This is the song that put them on the map. And live? Awesome. Saw them in an arena and in a club. Club show was crazy. Stage security left because there was no point. As soon as they started playing, all of us at the rail just jumped on the stage. When I turned around, I saw that everyone behind me followed suit. Basically, I sat on the side of the drum riser with Rex the whole show except when he had to get to his mike to sing back up. Then he'd come sit next to me again. Stage was just one big pit. Never did see Dime. He was on the other side.

How funny that you mention that this should be the theme for the Dallas Cowboys. Pantera was based in Texas and actually wrote the post-goal song for the Dallas Stars called "Puck Off." Its perfect 🤟

Saw them once in 1997 and it changed my life. Most bands, even in the 90s where it was a lot more laid back, had a clean and professional look about them. Pantera came out carrying bottles of Jagermeister and Wild Turkey and drank like fish through the whole performance but still played like this. They were the band who absolutely had zero Fs to give. They even stopped the show at one point to discipline the audience for not SWEARING loud enough. They didn't care about anything other than ripping it up on stage. The only other band I've ever seen I'd put attitude wise in the same category as Pantera would be a band called Overkill.

The Cowboys have more money than any sports team in the world and could afford to buy the entire catalog of any rock band they wanted. One song from a metal band wouldn't even warrant an expense report. But regardiess, Pantera (other than Phil) are from Dallas and would gladly give the song to the Cowboys for free. They are huge sports fans and hung out with the Dallas teams in the 90s. They actually did make a song for the Dallas Stars and I would argue it's part of the reason the Stars won the Stanley Cup that year (1999). Good memories. :) When the band first came back to play Dallas after breaking big, it was so insane the police eventually shut it down. I was there and definitely scared at times. It was in the old Reunion Arena where the Stars and Mavericks used to play and the idiots put down free standing chairs that weren't connected to anything and could be moved....or say...thrown. To make matters worse, there was a Stars game scheduled for later that night so there was ice underneath the removable hardwood sections of the basketball court. You can probably see where this is going. Sections of hardwood were pulled up to expose ice and the wood itself was used hold people as they body surfed across the crowd. A mosh pit was flailing around on the ice, chairs are being launched to and fro, people are going onto the stage and diving back into the crowd and big sections of wood flooring were being pushed through the arena on top of the crowd's outstretched arms with 5 or 6 people on them. The police shut it down and that was probably the right decision...lol. Here is a KZbin video that tells the story of Pantera's Dallas Star's fight song.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2andKV6bquaoKM

Just as a fun fact I'm a Dallas native and while I don't hear cfh at cowboys games. You will here walk bring played at ranger games when the opposing teams pitchers walks a ranger. And most famously the Abbott bros were huge dallas stars fans and wrote a song for the team that is played pregame called "Puck Off".
