I would have loved to be able to hear if these guys commented on that epic scream Spencer does in "I don't Feel Very Receptive Today" that occurs at 2:13 in the song. It just seems like an intense part of an already intense song, and warrents a mention lol.

Interesting how Spencer/Aaron have said they didn’t do Christian songs and the only one close to it was “some will seek forgiveness” but that was written by Marsh so didn’t really count but then on this Marsh said he was halfway out the door on the Christian stuff and only wrote it that way because that’s what they were trying to communicate at the time
@wallboi74 жыл бұрын
It really bugs me that they were all mixed up in some pseudo-Christian culture which ended up being pretty inauthentic. I remember the mixed messages that you'd be exposed to if you treated the scene as a church. I've only grown further into the church, and realize now that all the spiritual themes of love and grace just aren't possible without Christ from the bible. I love the music that it turned out, but I'm also happy to see the fakery (in the scene and the church) fall away and the authentic Christianity be all that's left. We're all better off without the grey area.
@SilversteinRescue2 жыл бұрын
@@wallboi7 it was genuine but they were just young so it would come across mixed at times. They grew up in southern Christian homes and thought you had to be a ministry if you were going to be in a band.

I’m legit so angry at the audio cutting out. ATLEAST unmute the talking. PLEASE. We can make efforts to listen to these songs alongside you guys. Open a tab on the computer: pause this. But we can’t hear what you guys are saying. The impact of reason. I’ve been curious about this album for 12 years. The UO guys seemed to always throw away this gem whenever the topic arouse. The boys say they didn’t agree often. But unknowingly, put this album into a corny category collectively. And it’s such a great record. There so much melody and drive. Fuck man.

This album WAS a religious experience for me as a 14/15 year old at the time. Life changing album. It was what introduced me to hardcore as an umbrella for DIY music. Yeah I'd heard MCR, Green Day, Blink, etc but this was the one that really opened my mind to everything else. Then I found Maylene, Norma Jean, Enter Shikari, Chiodos, Circa Survive, Thursday, I could list a million bands. And that's what lead me into indie rock, Say Anything, Saves the Day, Bright Eyes, The Shins, etc and that lead me into American Football, The Promise Ring, that era of emo, then I got into the new wave emo stuff, Into It. Over It. La Dispute, etc. It's all been a chain reaction since I found They're Only Chasing Safety.
