Proud Lexus owner here! an older Lexus like this will still look clean even with paint problems and I can say that nothing beats the quality build and long term performance of my 2005 ES330!!! Amazing

That guy definitely can paint hella nice in my opinion I think what happened was a chemical Reaction from that clear coat or didn’t let the base coat flash off possibly most likely btw very dope setup with the beat bruh

Yeah, I don’t know what the hell happened cuz I’m not a painter, and I know that the process to paint a vehicle is not as easy as everybody tries to make it seem. But, for him being a painter, he should know what to do and how to do it from the jump. Just another headache when you try to have nice things. Lol

That comes from the person not allowing the paint to dry in between coats.

Yeah, I think it was that, and also not prepping it right and not giving it the proper time/heat to cure. I was pretty disappointed and sad/angry to see.

I don't want to read all the comments below but I've had that happen when I used the wrong paint. I used high quality 2k clearcoat, but it lasted less than a week because the paint was cheap and not the proper mix for a clearcoat to properly bond with. This should not happen from someone who's been doing this daily on different cars.

What sucks is that, the clear, the hardener, the reducer, and the paint was all top notch! I spent a lot of money, to have an amazing outcome, then he went and messed everything up, making our cars hard to look at.

and as a painter, i know exactly what happened.. he should have used the right sealer first.. and then the proper reducer for the paint.. and looks like he reduced the clear coat too i learned the hard way not too.. easy fix my guy.

Thats not a paint problem its a clear coat issue, still a pain to fix but manageable depending on where you take it. Nice cars otherwise but you knew this already, Lol.

I think it might be both a clear and paint problem, cuz when everything was peeling off, in some places you can see it went all of the way down to the metal. Thanks for commenting and thinking my car still looks decent, even with the terrible paint job. Lol. Much respect.🤙🏾

I've painted a truck, its really not that hard to do it. But unqualified people put cheap primer, mix improperly on all coats, don't prep enough or overprep the base pre-primer layer and do over 200 grit which causes stuff like this to happen on the basecoat, another thing that happens is they don't wait between coats, then you get offgassing and cracks in the clear. Or you wait too long and you get absolutely no adhesion of base to clear because it wasn't tacked and cleaned. You could have done a better job than this guy tbh.

Nope, because it was a “backyard boogie”. He has a paint booth, the materials, and everything to get the job done. I even saw other vehicles that he painted, and they all looked good, but I didn’t know that my car would start doing this after less than a year of having it painted. I gave him 4 or 5 of my cars in that short amount of time, and they all started doing this. He said to let him give it another try, but I promised myself never again. I do appreciate your comment and feedback though. Much respect.🤙🏾

Damn, that does sound like a really good deal! With everything though, I get kinda skeptical of shops that get you in and out too quickly, and you hear all of the horror stories about shops like that. I can work on them, but sometimes you can only do soo much before you have to take it to a shop because of the machinery that shops have, and I have nooo idea on the proper steps or materials required to paint a whole vehicle. That’s the scary part. 10grand just to have somebody possibly scratch it or a rock pop up when you’re driving and mess it up. And I’m still against getting a wrap. It just don’t look the same and it still costs thousands to do that. There is no easy way out. Thank you for your comment.
