Yeah its a shame really, if I had it my way, superman and batman would be the leaders of the entire thing each of them would get 3-6 solo movies, cameos in a few movies, would have done 4 justice league movies each with there own threats superman would have died in the 3rd one then a few years later brought back in the 4th movie, wonder woman and cyborg would have had their own tv shows, the flash would have 2 solo movies and 1 multiverse movie where in the first one it takes him to a different reality where it would set up the next movie being a justice league vs injustice movie which would have had previous actors from other DC movies come back and help fight which would then leed into the 2nd flash movie that would restore everything

Honestly it's not even a very good film over all. If you continue the syderverse of movies, make shure you watch the synder cut of justice league and the ultimate edition of batman vs superman, there the better cuts but clock in at 4 hrs and 3 hrs both are fun watches

Superior in what way? That’s a vague statement. If you’re talking physical strength, then of course lol. But if we are talking numbers, critical success, media etc - Batman clears. Hence why they will give us some Batman content literally every other year. You don’t have to be a fan of Batman, he’s DC’s cash cow regardless of who your favourite is. His movies are better, his TV series, his games etc.

I love this film. It's one of my favorite versions of Superman. I like that the film immediately throws him into the deep end and doesn't make it easy. In many Superman origin stories, it's pretty much that he discovers his powers, is encouraged by his parents to save people, his father dies (or remains alive in some versions), he goes to Metropolis, sees some kind of danger like a falling plane or a falling person, easily catches it, the public is in awe of him, he gives an interview with Lois Lane, everyone trusts him immediately, then Lex Luthor comes up with a scheme to take him down, Superman fights whatever robot or disaster Luthor causes with some difficulty, and then is embraced as a hero. Here, Clark is just barely getting to know his powers before he's immediately thrown into a full-on alien invasion and has to fight for his life against beings just as powerful and way more skilled. His premiere to mankind isn't a flashy impressive airplane save, but a messy, destructive, and costly battle that divides him in the eyes of people on Earth, creating seeds of distrust that he must navigate and repair. His fight with Zod is mournful thing as the last survivors of Krypton battle to the bitter end with Clark having to violate a key rule for himself in order to end it. But through it all he remains determined to use his powers for good and keep his adopted home safe. It was a great introduction for the character. For me it's inspiring because Clark faces a great deal of darkness both from the world and even from within at times, but he remains true to his purpose and who he is, no matter what.

Favorite scenes in man of steel are the last scene with Clark’s dad watching him in the yard with Hans zimmers wonderful theme and also the scene where Superman flies up to stop the ship from terraforming the planet. 11:56 in the flashpoint paradox ,Superman’s ship crashed in metropolis not at the Kent farm,the government lied and said it was a meteor,they experimented on Superman to the point where he is an anorexic shell scared of humans,krypto the super dog was killed and his dna was used to try to breed monsters for war but luckily all failed,in another story he lands in Soviet Russia and becomes dictator after Stalin ,in another he is found by Mexican immigrants and he is raised to be honorable but to be a hard shell .so depending on who raises him they mold wether he is an honorable man or a homelander

People always complain about how Superman is boring but haven't really actually read a good Superman comic. Sure he hasn't really been portrayed well in live action but personally I liked this version. He's coming into himself, finding out who he is and what he can do and naturally just like any human we go through stuff so that's why he comes off as so "depressing and dark" . Sadly he wasn't really able to transition into that character we all see Superman to be, a symbol of hope. I like Batman too but imo he's overrated and over saturated and I've been reading comics for at least 28 years.

The DCU did itself a major injustice by getting rid of Henry Cavill, and not producing another man of steel movie. This movie doesn’t get the credit it deserves, and Cavill is most definitely the best Superman we’ve had to date. You truly need to check out the uncut version of Batman versus Superman next. Another banger for sure.

The Kent's are bad influences, Superman is just flat out boring, there's no duality between Clark Kent and Superman, and Clark has zero chemistry with Lois. Christopher Reeve's Superman had more personality than Henry's. That's why people love Reeve's version. He was so charismatic and he was so likable. That's what's missing in the Snyder version. Snyder should've never been involved with DC. That dude doesn't understand how Batman and Superman work. Steven Spielberg should direct a Superman film he's the perfect guy for the job.

It is considered absolutely perfect for its impact not only societal, but spiritual as well. Very few things ever created are considered masterpieces, but those which are will endure for hundreds of years with no equal. DaVinci' Sistine Chappell, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Jackson's Lord of the Rings. Man of Steel, while a great movie is far from being a masterpiece.

@Devin G my favorite heroes Xmen aside which are my favorite team and family were always Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, and Batman and Superman all heroes with a moral code they NEVER cross. The score in this film is lit, Cavill is the best actor for this not named Christopher Reeves. I loved the animated Superman series too it was right after Batman the animated adventures I watched both religiously... It is a shame Dc dropped the ball and now is seeking a new actor for Superman ( think they hired a new actor now. Still hope you seek out Xmen 97 :)

I always thought comparing Batman and Superman was like comparing Godzilla and Kong. WHY?? Superman would wreck Batman. Godzilla would wreck Kong. But they make the movies anyway. Granted, they're still good. It's just the concept. Superman and Godzilla are OP. A nuke won't kill Superman. The radiation from the sun fuels Superman. A nuke won't kill Godzilla either. It only fuels Godzilla. Batman and Kong are not immune to nukes. Bullets, bombs, missiles won't even penetrate Superman's skin. Nor would it penetrate Godzilla's. Batman and Kong bleed. There are two sequels to Man of Steel: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition(2016) - Watch the Ultimate Edition as that is Director's Cut. It is 3 hours long. The theatrical cut is fine but the Ultimate Edition has more story. BvS is Man of Steel 2. After that is: Zack Snyder's Justice League(2021) - Avoid the butchered theatrical cut from 2017 as that was a Frankenstein version done by the studio and Avengers director Joss Whedon. Only watch the Snyder Cut. It is four hours long. It is a movie miracle that we have it and many thanks to the fans that campaign for Zack's original vision to be released. ZSJL is Man of Steel 3.

Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy is better, this lacks the heart of Superman (78) and BVS the sequel to this is a mess. If Luthorcorp ran the Arctic dig BvS would make sense.

3:45 Interestingly, the matrix stole the pods from Superman. They came from Superman comics in the 1980s from John Byrne and the Matrix ripped it off but no one knows that unless they read those old comics.

The reason why Krypton exploded was because they carelessly was mining their planet's core, accelerating a forthcoming seismic implosion. They overused their natural resources to the point of exhaustion and it couldn’t handle it anymore. Also keep in mind as explained in the film, when Kryptonians such as Superman and Zod are away from a yellow sun, their powers are weakened and they’re no different humans and can be killed. With that being said, they can still possess skills in combat, have better technology and their IQ levels are similar or much higher than humans. With their abilities, they’re almost invisible and very few beings can match them.

In my opinion the only actor that's ever truly embodied the role of Superman is Christopher Reeve. There's a reason why fans and critics love Reeve's Superman. His Superman was charismatic, he was likable, and he had the best duality between Clark Kent and Superman. Superman: The Movie is the only time Hollywood got Superman right. He wasn't Space Jesus he was just a guy that wanted to help people. At the end of the day that's what Superman is. He's not a godlike figure he's just a dorky farm boy from Kansas. I hated Zack Snyder's vision for DC it was bland and boring. Snyder is a creative guy no doubt about it but comic book films just aren't his thing. He should stick to zombie flicks. I would love a sequel to Dawn of the Dead. That's his best film.

There are 6 batman live action movies that are leagues above man of steel they are Batman (1989). Batman returns. Batman begins. Batman: the dark knight. Batman: dark knight rises. The batman. Man of steel isn't even the best Superman film, superman Richard donner cut and the original cut, as well as Superman 2, like the list of batman films are leagues above man of steel.

That there are still people defending this film seems incomprehensible to me. Beyond the fanaticism towards Zack Snyder or the sympathy towards Henry Cavill (which was a good cast), I can't find any other reason. The film is simply bad and ugly to watch. With embarrassing script holes, zero character development,dramatic scenes that border on the ridiculous, terrible digital visual effects, with a color grading edition, with saturated colors, typical of a music video from the early 2000s, in terrible taste, with absurd, tiresome and not at all aesthetic fights. It's 2024, all of you who were teenagers are now adults. You don't need to continue defending this fiasco

"I get that this is superman's dad" is something I've never said about the character of Jor-El until I saw this movie. The guy broke every law and committed every taboo and heresy to save his people and protect his son. He taught himself martial arts (to Zodd's surprise and even earning his admiration). He even practically came back from the dead to save the world that Clark called home because he's a motherfucker that knew what's right. Jor is 100% is a beast in this flick.
