Henry Cavil stood in times square, with glasses on. With a superman shirt on. With billboards all around him with his face on them. Only TWO people recognized him. Search up the video, it's so funny.

My favorite thing about this movie is the treatment of Jor El's character. It's established that every kryptonian is designed for one purpose. Zodd was a general before he was born. Jor was chosen to be a scientist. He fights two armed guards because he taught himself to fight, which fucking blows Zodd's mind. The amount of work Jor put in and the heresy he committed just to save his family while his world burned was just pure fucking heroic. It's the first time I can remember thinking "It makes sense that superman is this guy's son."

What I love about Man of Steel, we don’t get the long drawn out back story. The flashbacks dropping little nuggets of information when we need it was brilliant, the best one was Papa Kent looking at young Clark with his little cape ❤

The craziest part of Superman to me is in literally all of his physical interactions with humans, he has to move himself when they touch him because nobody is capable of moving him themselves unless he is unconscious. When he is holding any level of tension in his muscles it'd be like trying to pick up a skyscraper with your pinky. So when that guy "saved" him from the crab cage, he had to fall backwards on purpose, otherwise the guy would have just collided with a steel wall.

Jonathan Kent was a true father figure. His priority was protecting his wife and son. Clark going with his mom made sure she was safe, and he made sure his son wouldn't face the backlash of bullshit that'd come with using his abilities by trying to save the dog himself. He was simply being a dad by what he did. Regardless of his son's powers. A lot of people hate that scene, but I don't mind the way it played out.

He moves faster than anyone can perceive. They would never know unless he wants to be seen. While he isn't as fast as the flash he is still faster than human perception. That's why it is made fun of. While Clark still hasn't found his full power as superman yet at this point. Clark spent enough time in Smallville learning the basics and while he couldn't fly in his early years he still knew how to super jump and ran super fast. They change this for this scene to happen.

Released during Supes' 75th anniversary. The highest-grossing Superman film of all time. Christopher Nolan, producer and story creator after finishing The Dark Knight Trilogy. Using elements from several iterations (origin and exploits). Pushing the envelope of just how powerful and vulnerable he is in a world of the impossible becoming possible. Henry Cavill was on the Showtime series, The Tudors (2007-2010) and the movie, Immortals (2011) before being casted as Clark Kent/Kal-El. Also a good supporting cast around him. The themes implored into the movie much like the comics still hit a major cord. Saw it 3 times (reg. format, IMAX and IMAX 3D). I had major chills throughout this movie because of how much I loved this character and why he's the legend we know. Zack Snyder's vision, David S. Goyer's writing and Hans Zimmer's score. With this as the DCEU's beginning, the journey from here has been gratifying to me.

That is a good point I suppose. I've always felt this was one of the most unnecessary and stupid death scenes in a movie because Clark should have been able to sneak away out of sight and get to his father super fast from an unseen angle to where nobody would have been able to see what exactly happened, but I never really thought about how young he was there either (because, well, the actor looks exactly the same). Maybe he just wasn't capable enough at that point.

Congratulations on watching this! I agree... it's a masterpiece! Zach Snyder made one of the greatest superhero films of all time! I felt like this was how the world really would react if Superman suddenly existed here on Earth (unlike how he was just accepted without question in the film starring Christopher Reeve). As much as I loved Chris's portrayal of Superman, this 2013 film showed a much more realistic story. Our Pentagon would NOT be happy... at least not at first.

As far as your comments on the ending goes it's not really just the glasses that usually camouflage him from people knowing he's Superma, it's the body language it's the higher pitch voice, the clunkiness, just the goofball antics that Clark Kent does that really disguise it. At least it did in the Christopher Reeve version.

8:52 Mark! "Jerk"? You're right! Unlike those over at "Quora" that claim that "Mister Spock" is one in a particular episode! Mister Spock is too smart, intelligent, and educated to ever be a "jerk"! Ahem. Back in the day, when railroads were using steam power, they had no choice but to build tiny communities known as "jerkwater towns" around their water towers needed to replenish their locomotives. (They did not do double duty as the drinking water source, as that would deplete the water needed for the locomotives! So it was safe to bathe or swim in them if you were tiny enough, as seen in "Petticoat Junction" and in Will Smith's version of "The Wild Wild West"!) Such places were built for railroad workers and/or employees only, so there were no social amenities such as schools or churches. But the men ignored that and brought women into their workplace, and families were created that soon had children without a proper education! Manners and social graces were taught in public schools back then. The ignorant children grew up to be ignorant adults riding the trains and shocking the civilized passengers! The civil people soon caught on to how the rude people came to be, and they used the term "jerkwater residents" that in time due to oral laziness, was shortened to "jerkwaters" and now we have "jerks"! Railroad workers used to jerk water from the towers for the locomotives. At soda fountains, "soda jerks" jerked soda water! Male masturbation is called "perking off"!: They all share the same root word or term, "jerk"! 😮

Men in Black has a good quote on the question of “how would you react” goes something like “A person is smart, people are dumb and would panic.”

For me, Christopher Reeve will always be 'My' Superman. R.I.P. you good Man! However, in this remake/portrayal of this Character, Mr. Cavil absolutely nailed it!

Classic if youre going to do the “sequel” Batman V Superman you should do the Ultimate Edition so the storyline is clear. Its 15 minutes longer but it makes a huge difference

I loved how this movie shows the destruction Kryptonians are capable of. And the fighting between Zod and Kal was too dangerous for civilization

That scene where Zod hijacks the TV feeds is one of the best creepy moments in a movie not labeled as horror or scary. Up there with the birthday scene in Signs

They combat against the Kyptonians and the human soldiers, specifically that fast seemingly teleporting movement in hits is probably my favorite example of how superbeings would appear in combat against humans.

Here's some other superhero film's you should check out, Leo: Flash Gordon (1980) Darkman (1990) Robocop 2 (1990) The Rocketeer (1991) The Mask (1994) Unbreakable (2000) Constantine (2005) Punisher: War Zone (2008) Megamind (2010) Dredd (2012) Turbo Kid (2015) Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

I wouldn't say that Alita is a superhero film as much as it is a manga adaptation.
