We have an HR340 on order. Did significant research on virtually every boat - production and otherwise - and landed on this. The only real competitor was the Sirius. Wet head and the small refrigerator were the two main issues for us, both concessions we were willing to make for all of the other amazing benefits this boat presents. Hallberg has always done it right, and they just keep getting better.

Congratulations on your future new boat, HR as you say have a reputation for doing it right, as my father used to say, if a job is worth doing then do it right the first time. I love this little boat and wish you many happy sailing years.

Things I don't like... 1. The space behind the wheels is decidedly cramped + moving between the two wheels one has to continually duck around the back-stay. 2. The main sheet in the middle of the cockpit is sub-optimal. 3. The position of the toilet next to the v-berth is far from ideal.

Hi! I find this boat a little joy! I'd order with some different configurations (one would be the exclusion of that toe destroyer...) on the cockpit instruments an a few inside. But I find it the limit between good use os space and not that good use of space - something we clearly observe on bigger boats. Not much to say here. A little joy, believe it must be a fine sailer, would really take me to many places by the brazillian coast and further away :) I've been tooooo busy, I believe I missed one or two videos! On the weekend I'll do my best to stay updated. Thanks for this one, see you on the next! Fair winds!

That toe smasher got me every time, If they made it bigger and removable that would be a better idea. It won't be long ( a few years time but we will be along your coastline) more on that soon. We have a test sail coming up at the being os June on an Alubat 370 that I think will interest you. 😇😁

I have an HR 340 on order and I can't wait to get it. Pricy, yes. But, after looking at other production boats it was worth spending the extra money the boat. My current boat, a 30 year old plus Beneteau First 265 served me well. However, for my next boat I wanted something more than what Beneteau or Jeanneau offers.
@SVTONICBoatWives9 ай бұрын
Congratulations on your new boat. 🥂🍾 I am a huge fan of the Beneteau first, especially the older models, they were well built for production boats but your upgrade to an HR is brilliant you are going to have so much fun with this boat.

This is a very cute Sailboat slap bang in the size range of my former favourites - e.g. my last Sailboat was an Endeavour 32 in outstanding post refit condition when I bought it. If you are ok with all the Classic Sailboat very real shortcomings of Classic boats then this HR 34 footer can be a lot of fun to Sail.Drawbacks due to lack of beam and light displacement amount to less comfortable. Two cylinder engine rather u deroowered, deep draft at over 6 feet, and twin rudders . The superior alternative that offers far more comfort, though longer LOA it has a lot more displacement plus an inescapable massive advantage of a 4 foot Draft, along with a smooth 45 hp 4 cylinder Yanmar engine with direct Drive, Spacious heads with separate shower, and Two Cabins with double berths ( plus options for up to two settee berths) is Single Rudder too, though I expect HR would remove one for an order ?,the Island Packet IP349 with a 38 ft LOA. Frankly, I wouldn’t personally buy either, due to a basic rule of mine that my boats must have Two Dry Heads with two sit down showers, for basic comfort on passage and for facilities when entertaining. Can’t get them into either. ☹️Best Wishes to all. Bob.🤔🌟🌟🌟❤️
@brownnoise3579 ай бұрын
PS, the two heads and showers really hit home as something I had forgotten with the Enfeavour 32, which was one of a long list of things I rapidly relearned lessons with, along with new lessons too, such as I was no longer a superfit youngster, and that I really needed to pay attention to the reality that I was now a genuine.y old fart who was also disabled. 🤣🤣🤣

Sorry but I couldn't help laughing at your mishaps. Even though stepping on this boat seems as risky as stepping on a WWII minefield, it is the most beautiful 34 footer I've seen. Is it the best? I don't know. I'd probably still put the Sirius 35 ds at the top of the list.
@SVTONICBoatWives9 ай бұрын
I wondered if someone would bring up the Sirius, a boat I would like to get my hands on to see what they are like and being a deck salon it would be good to see at this size of yacht if it actually offers more or less living space.
@brownnoise3575 ай бұрын
There are some serious issues with the Sirius Deck Saloon for use in Tropical areas, due to extremely limited internal Air Volume surrounded by a Greenhouse, and you don't have the excellent Cockpit Shading of the Moody DS for example, but especially in the Twin Keel version, the Sirius is an absolute Belter for sailing around British Coasts, the Baltic, Scandinavia, Pacific NW, or USA and Canada NE Coastlines. Frankly, I was a bit Gutted to have to Rule it out for myself, as I hope to be Heading to the Caribbean at some point, God Willing, and I don't Die First (had a bit of a Close call at the start of 2024, with Respiratory Failure, Kidney Failure and a Heart Attack, but yet again I get sent back from the other side lol ). Re the HR 34, tbh, with 7 Berths, you need 2 heads on a Boat, and on this HR, it's a bugger to fit one in, plus it has Twin Rudders, plus a too small inboard Diesel, plus it is Saildrive - whi h thankfully isn't too bad these days. Now This will likely get me a right slapping, but the Island Packet IP 349 is undoubtedly the far better Sailboat. the Aft and Forward Berths are far Superior, and the forward Head and sit down Shower are absolute Luxury- the Saloon Layout can be of Setee Berths too, plus you can opt for a Day head just ahead of the Aft Cabin opposite the Galley and next to the Companionway Steps. In addition to a Hard Dodger option, you can also opt a Hard Aft Cockpit Arch to mount Solar Panels on as well as Davits. It's a Single Rudder Boat with a 4 ft Draft, and comes as standard with a 4 cylinder Yanmar Diesel of 45 hp with Shaft Drive. If I could afford one, I'd buy one tbh, but my Piggy bank doesn't look to be large enough. Sigh. 🤔❤ Best Wishes. Bob. 👍

Twin helm and rudder seems stupid on a boat this size to be honest. Would much rather see a skeg hung rudder.
@SVTONICBoatWives9 ай бұрын
I am going to disagree because I can but only because with modern hull design the beam is so much larger and brought back further on the hull that you can get away with it. Today on an offshore boat I would prefer twin rudders but around coastal marinas give me a single any day? What do you think about offshore sailing?
@TheAegisClaw9 ай бұрын
@@SVTONICBoatWives maybe, but you're cruising not racing, I don't see this boat heeled over enough for control with a single rudder being a problem, at least not for it's intended use. And grounding or orcas are much more of a worry with twin blade rudders. I'm not convinced it makes sense on boats that claim to be bluewater cruisers.
@SVTONICBoatWives9 ай бұрын
@@TheAegisClaw the only thing I would say about grounding your rudders (when twin rudders are concerned) as they are so much shorter than your keel I would be more worried that you have just lost your keel somewhere if you are hitting your rudders. HaHa. We have a sailing friend who has a full skeg rudder and still lost it to Orcas last year, it just takes them longer to abuse your boat.
@TheAegisClaw8 ай бұрын
@@SVTONICBoatWives but that's exactly my point, twin rudders aren't on a plane with the keel, so aren't protected by it.
