The biggest reason DP can change personnel so dramatically and still be so kick ass is simply... IAN PAICE. My fave drummer.

My God, Ian Paice on the drums!! Next to Bonzo and Moon, Ian Paice is absolutely my biggest drumming influence. I remember once reading that he was having a really hard time coming up with a good drum line for the verses of this song. During a break in the session, he just started going ballistic on his drums to vent the frustration, and Coverdale (and someone else in the band, can't remember who) said, "Hey, what is that you're doing there? Try *that* during the verses and see if it works!" And just like that, he had his part. The world was spoiled in the late '60's and the '70's musically: there were so many great, unbelievably creative rock bands out there. Deep Purple was right there at the top.

This entire album stands alone in the Deep Purple catalogue. A classic that never will be matched.

Fair point mate although I think In Rock, Fireball & Machine Head are it's equals but in the end it's all down to personal choice eh 😉

i was so addicted, as a teen, to not only led zepplin, but also deep purple, (and many other bands) and used to have a record player in my bedroom and would fall asleep every night listening to one side of the lp from start to end; i virtually memorized every single note of every instrument and listened intently so much so that i could tell every twist and turn and sequence, but could not for the life of me tell you lyrics, because i was so focused on the instruments; not only that, this music HAS to be played as LOUD as possible on a really good system, to fully appreciate; back then teens would have part time jobs, and spend ALL their money on stereo systems, speakers, guitars, amps, etc; we were addicted, so its nice to see someone almost 50 years later, enjoying it as much as we did, and still do;

That was me in the '80's. If I was gonna blast Burn, or Who's Next, or Physical Graffiti it had to be on the best, clearest-sounding stereo system I could get my hands on. It was a never-ending quest, it seemed!! Yard sales, estate sales, clearance sales, people with no clue how valuable what they were selling was, etc. etc.

Never was a song better named as this track scorches like a blow-torch. Their track Mistreated off the same album is a slower burn but equally epic - should check that out one day.

The 'Mark III' version of Deep Purple. Ian Paice - drums, Ritchie Blackmore - guitar, Jon Lord - keyboards, Glenn Hughes - bass & vocals, and David Coverdale - vocals. This album kicked ass. Check out 'You Fool No One' and 'Mistreated'...and if you want an instrumental, 'A' 200'.

Totally agree. I work outdoors and play music all the time, and when I play the "Burn" album in particular, it seems customers are constantly asking me, "What the heck is THAT??" I tell them Deep Purple. And then you're welcome!

Back in the day, the keyboard player, Jon Lord would get that hamon b3 organ rocking back and forth. He had to had it mounted on something to get that beast rocking like that. It was one helluva show. Yeah. Peace

A great DP song. This is so energetic so heavy. Love the solos. DP has been my favorite heavy rock band since the early 70's with Zeppelin second. For me it is Jon Lord (RIP) on keys that gives DP the advantage. Great reaction and boy does this song rock its on fire. Do more DP please.

Great reaction to one of DP's best and most energetic tracks, they were really firing on all cylinders. It's so interesting to hear the difference in the vocals with the arrival of David Coverdale on lead backed up by bassist Glenn Hughes who has that incredibly high register and their harmonization. Also loved Jon Lord's Bach like improvisations on organ and moog, such a classy musician. If you loved this, check out "Stormbringer" with the same line-up. Cheers

So, lead singer here was David Coverdale, who went on to form the big 80s band, Whitesnake. But, the backing vocalist (who is also the bassist), Glenn Hughes, is performing with a band right now called the Dead Daisies. They just dropped an album this year that is unbelievably good, especially considering these guys are in their 70s! Check out one of the links,if you are interested! 💜😁 Holy Ground (Dead Daisies, 2021) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e56ln61ol9Jogac Like No Other (Dead Daisies, 2021) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep7LZZSJrbKsjpY Bustle and Flow (Dead Daisies, 2021) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZPMpamuoKp1f6M

Now Try This : Celebrating Jon Lord - The Rock Legend Burn - This is essentially what Burn sounds like today. Ian Paice and Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple on Drums and Bass, Don Airey of Deep Purple on Keys along with Rick Wakeman of Yes and Bruce Dickenson of iron Maiden on 2nd vocal. Mind blowing...go see these guys while they are still with us !!

Deep Purple was full of astrological FIRE🔥signed guys. Plus their drummer was the sign of the 🐀 rat - VERY high energy ! Thats why this band burned more than most. Its also why they fought and broke-up alot. Exhilarating, fun music !
