All houseboats are fitted with tanks underneath so no human waste is dumbed in the backwaters. They won't get license to operate otherwise.The waste is later used for biogas production.

@ 11:17 the water level in the lake is above the cultivated land, the land is about 1 to 2 meter below the sea level , Only in another place in the world this happens and that is in Holland

Fun fact!! More people die each year due to falling coconuts in Kerala on average than people die from shark attacks world wide. I heard that before I went to Kerala and thought it strange and then I saw how many coconut trees there are in Kerala!!! I was to cheap to do a proper houseboat so thanks for showing me. We remember reading some facts about coconuts killing people world wide. Can’t remember the statistics. We’re normally proper budget travellers as you know. It’s rare that we treat ourselves like that 😀

It was a lovely experience. We hesitated our first time in Alleppey and only did a canoe tour as there’s a lot of articles and blogs talking about it not being sustainable, about the pollution of too many houseboats and maybe rubbish being dumped in the water. We turned it around and though about the lost 3 years of tourism and that these people need to make a living. Not only the people owning the businesses but the staff on the boats. We talk thousands of people.

I mean there are loads of boats but they haven’t been running for a long time. We feel we need to support tourism as so many people have struggled. We don’t think banning activities like this help but the government of India could regulate the industry. Apparently there’s no limit on how many houseboats can be on these backwaters all at ones. I bet it was more congested before 2020.

The backwaters are beautiful. We spent many days in that area apart from stating that night on the houseboat. We went on canopies, public ferries etc. we just couldn’t get enough. Thanks so much for watching 😀

We don't find it worth it at all , living in India since we were born here and so we would know a thing or two ......however Kerala is very beautiful and an absolute bang for the buck

For what reason other than living in india makes it not worth it for you? The main reason we hesitated to stay on a houseboat is because of politico n due to too many boats and other sustainability and environmental issues. In the end we opted to do a tour as we felt we wanted to support the thousands of houseboat staff who didn’t have much work during the last three years, and of course to see for ourselves what it’s like. We enjoyed it but for us it’s a one time experience and probably nothing we would do again. But you never know 😀

@@TimezoneJunkies well there are far too many disadvantages to opt for such a holiday compared to the advantages and to elaborate further I would plan it as mentioned herein under :- I'd like to first see the most mythical parts of the Himalayas and then there is Jaisalmer and entire Rajasthan with magnificent forts followed by a safari or maybe two first in Ranthambore followed by Pench National Park and continued with a tour of Ajanta - Ellora caves and then Hampi to be mure precise , which would then make the Kerala trip more interesting

We did a north India series 4 years ago. We hitchhiked and did lots of fun stuff. Have you watched it? 😀 This time we chose Kerala and this kind of houseboat trip is not what we normally do but we wanted to try something different to our usual adventures. Where we’re headed next we’re not sure. We have a 5 year visa to india so we can come back multiple times. ​@@bhyomkeshbakshika5938 Oh no pls don't recommend the cliche Jaisalmer, Desert safari. Tourists wouldn't want to travel the beat and track. India is much more than just that. Yes Himalayas is a breath of fresh air. But there are many places in India to explore other than that too. Like the Nort East, Central India, South India, East India, Extreme North. And backwaters of Kerala and Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats, Sundarbans of Bengal are all a must experience. Anyway peace.
