As much as we would all love to see prices and goods and services go back to pre-pandemic levels that is very likely to never happen and it's because our government and the federal reserves are on a hard mission to make sure it never does. Because that would be called deflation which goes directly against their goal of having 2% inflation. Another words they want prices to continue going up forever and never go down. Once you realize that it gives the economy a whole new perspective.

Inflation is accumulative. Add last yrs to this year. Of course the true number is I believe between 60 and 100+ percent. Gas is 80% higher than when Trump was president. My butter is 60% more, My OJ was 3.29 a gallon and is now 7.29. That's more than 100%. And remember the Big scam on inflation of all, ENERGY is NO longer equated in the factor of inflation... Are government is the biggest fraud ever portrayed upon us the people.

Inflation is far more harmful to individuals than a collapsing stock or property market because it directly affects people's cost of living, which they immediately feel. It is not surprising that the current market sentiment is extremely pessimistic. In today's economy, assistance is critical if we are to survive.

If you lack market knowledge, your best bet is to seek advice or support from a consultant or investing coach. Contacting a consultant may sound simple, but it's how I've managed to stay afloat in the market and increase my portfolio to roughly 65% since January. It is, in my opinion, the best way to get started in the industry right now.

The US economy cannot survive without continuous credit and debt creation. The FED will print more money and the average American will go just that much further in debt. Meanwhile, foreigners lust for the greenback. Their economies are in worse condition than the US... if that's even possible. Someone is going to be left holding the bag...

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I am debt free and have money saved, it makes weathering the storms a whole lot easier. So does knowing how to fix your house and cars yourself. We even know how to build our own furniture, it was worth investing in the tools. Building log furniture yourself is wayyyyyyyyyyy cheaper than buying it from someone else. The people in debt up to their eyeballs aren't going to fare well through this insanity.

The fact is, the 100 year period between 1800 and 1900 America saw the cost of living consistently drop while wealth exploded. After the Bankster's conspired in 1911 to ram the Federal Reserve Act and the IRS Act down our throats, we have seen steady and now uncontrollable debt and inflation. Before 1913 we had Schools, Colleges, Fire Services, Police Services, and a Military. All without an Unconstitutional Income tax.

Same in Britain during the industrial revolution. The currency was pegged to silver so the government couldn't just print more money. As a result the prices of everything from cloth to bread dropped significantly as production became more efficient. It was the longest period of sustained deflation in economic history. Yet at the same time wages went up as workers became more valuable and the economy boomed.

Overall deflation can be bad not just on a consumer level (which would be really bad on an employment level) but on investment level. Why would I invest money into anything if I can just sit on cash? Why would banks give out interest rates on saving's and CD's if that same money would be worth more down the road? Now that isn't to say deflation in certain sectors wouldn't help (food, energy, housing, transportation, etc. but that would be more of an adjustment than overall monetary deflation) A little inflation over time (obviously not what we have seen over the last few years) that hits the sweet spot just right is good for the economy as it doesn't discourage consumption but also for investors as no investment is REALLY bad for the economy.

If it's a want, I wait a month and if I still want that item, THEN I budget and again pay for it all at once. 53, zero debt except for rent and utilities, I hike 2 miles each way to/from work every day so no insurance/gas/ car payments. My biggest "luxury" expenses are boots every few years, I buy high end, quality boots that last years and bushcraft gear that will probably outlive me. Never had and never will have a credit card. I learned my lesson with credit cards when I was young and stupid. It took me a while to pay off the debt. Once I had done so, I never went down that road again. I keep one in my wallet and it is strictly for emergencies and very rarely used. When it is, I pay it off at the end of the month before any interest accrues. It's better to dip into savings if I get an unexpected large bill than it is to pay their extortionate rates. I also keep it because should I ever need to rent a vehicle, it's now impossible to do so without one - even if you don't intend to pay with it. I would always settle the bill with my own money when I return a rental.

That’s completely wrong. In a fiat Monterey policy when GDP grows so does inflation. It’s part of a healthy natural cycle. During high inflationary periods the fed tries to tighten the monetary system without crashing the economy.

There was actual deflation in the 90s. Gasoline adjusted for inflation was cheaper than it was in the 50s. Gas was between 89 cents and people freaked out when it went up to 1.09. Everything was way more affordable and a Taco Bell Taco was 49 cents or 59 cents. You could eat like a king for $10. Everything at Walmart was very cheap back then, they were taking over the planet with their low prices. It’s hardly the same bargain. We were flooded with cheap goods from China, there was actual downward pressure on prices and wages were stagnant but in real terms our $$$ was going further. The Fed back in the 90s was seriously worried about deflation and trying to find ways to inflate prices without much success. That dynamic changed after 9/11 and the housing bubble

In my 20s, (early 2000s) I ran up a bunch of CC debt on things I didn't need, being young and dumb. When the recession hit, and home prices started to tank, I figured it might be a good time to buy a house, especially with the Obama tax credit. In Feb 2010 I closed on my house, used the tax credit to furnish it AND pay off all my CC debt. Fast forward 12 years, I have my house paid off and have ZERO debt. It is quite liberating and I feel fortunate and lucky to have had everything play out the way it did. I learned early about crippling CC debt and managed to claw my way out and changed my life accordingly. I feel sorry for young people looking to carve out a good life for themselves in the current economic climate. The 2008 recession may have been the last chance for anyone to get their feet under themselves, and it seems there's little hope for newer generations. We need another 2008 type of reality check.

Now, you must apply even if you are pre-approved. For lunch today, I wanted a burger and stopped at Burger Restaurant. There was no one taking orders, only an automated machine. I would have normally paid cash, but it was not possible. A burger, fries, and drink with 1 extra topping cost $18.69 without tip. While to me, the cost was high, its cost did not impact my lifestyle. You bought a 5th guitar because you wanted it, not needed it. High schools should be teaching financial classes instead of other useless classes that don't prepare a teenager for life in a world dominated by consumerism and debt. A person's relationship with their finances will go a long way to determining how their life will play out. We do live in a world where there is such a thing as good debt, but even if you are financing something that appreciates and cash flows, it still must make sense from a risk perspective. I am in my mid 50's and even though i have a lot more money now than 20 years ago, my current spending habits are much more conservative because of my priorities and values. @@badinstinctsKZbin-xb3oj People compete a lot harder for a place to live, than to buy an ounce of gold. Also, back then there was no such thing as a 30 year mortgage - that was a post-WW2 innovation. Todays valuations are so high because it has ceased to be so much about the price and all about the monthly payment. Pre-WW2 the longest mortgage was 15 years with the typical or average being five to seven years. If we went back to those rules, you would see the biggest national real-estate crash since the beginning of the republic. Buying and selling would suddenly be much more about how much CASH do buyers have versus how long a loan + what monthly payment can they handle.

Great video! Deflation helps people! It’s no wonder the media portrays it as being a bad thing. Also their argument of consumers putting off purchasing goods and services because of falling prices holds no water. People assign a value to their time. Example would be if your computer broke. You can sit there without a computer because you might save 100 bucks or you can buy one now and make use of it. This logic can be applied to anything.

What pretty much pulled us out of the Great Depression was involvement in WW2. FDR started the Lend Lease program by lending/leasing our supplies to European allies and China. German U-boats hit our supply ships and Japanese Zero's "accidentally" hit our supply ships. We got directly involved and gave government contracts to manufacturers that would switch some of their production lines to military armament and supply. It gave people good paying jobs. Also, entrepreneurs were pumping money into R&D so after WW2 there were numerous advancements in technology such as the TV and modern refrigerator. Back in those days you just walk into an office building with a very basic resume, and you'd be given a job with a nice pension. The employer would keep you for as long as you breathe because they invested money into training you. If you suck at 1 department, they'd move you to other departments until they could find a place for you. Nowadays, you don't have employers like that.

we came out, swinging a couple decades after the great depression because of World War II. The war financed, the economy and created jobs. Also government programs like the new deal. meanwhile, I’m being a good little consumer, this spring, it’s gardening season, and I plan to spend the next couple weekends buying new garden supplies maybe some patio furniture. You know of course I’m not spending like I was before but people still need things replaced or purchased if you have a new place . and for the most part, those type of things haven’t really gone up much in price. I said things that people need every day like food, gas, and shelter that I’ve gone up and those are all things that people cannot cut back on only so far. You still have to have the same amount of calories every week, you still need the same amount of gas to get where you’re going if you drive. and your shelter price is not gonna go down. This is the new normal people need to get used to it. there’s way too much money in the world economy, it’s not just the US economy. The whole world has an influx of cash even if we all quit buying houses, the foreigners will come in and take advantage of the lack of competition in the market.

falling prices are beneficial to savers. inflation is beneficial to borrowers. the US government is the biggest borrower in the world. inflation will never stop. it'd destroy the government. i will push back on the whole "my debt is the fault of predatory lenders" idea. it really isnt. someone that cant control their impulses is going to be broke no matter what. it isnt the fault of the companies. yes theyre servicing a segment of the population who may have addiction issues, but again, that's not their problem. we as a society have got to stop blaming other people for our problems. if you're broke it's likely at least 50% on you. yes there are times through no fault of your own you get laid off or injured, but most people who are broke could have money but instead they want the nice house and the fancy car.

This is true. Unfortunately, financially intelligent taxpaying citizens are the people that end up bailing out the portion of society that can't service their debts. What do you think the end game is for a bank that KNOWS they are too big to fail? They can engage in extremely risky lending behaviors, which, in my opinion, should not be supported nor ignored

Part of being financially solvent means saving up so you have an emergency fund in case of a black swan event like injury or lay-off. Smart people plan for that. Dumb-dumbs are more interested in "making memories" than saving money. That's why lottery winners often go broke within a few years of winning millions.

"Seigniorage" is the technical term for the difference between what it costs government to print money and the face value of that money. For example, if it costs the government $1 to print a $100 bill, then the seigniorage is $99. It's basically the profit the government makes from the act of printing money. (Obviously when money is created electronically then the seigniorage is almost 100% of the money created). Importantly, seigniorage creates a vast stream of income for government that most citizens aren't really paying attention to because it doesn't affect their taxes and it doesn't appear in the national budget. But in economics there's no such thing as a free lunch, and the price of seigniorage is inflation. The more money the government prints the more inflation you get, and so seigniorage acts like an invisible tax on citizens. You will never see deflation because the government doesn't want to give up the income generated by seigniorage.
