The reason why guitar sound in the main riffs in this version is different from the original one because there is additional guitarist in this version..... pre 2000 era they have 2 guitarest, post 2000 they have 3 guitarist in their lineup

Bruce has mentioned before that the band tends to continually up the tempo as the tour goes on, it's just the band's excitement with playing live, much to his shigrin. He has told them to stop upping the tempo so he can keep up! It just goes to show what a tight, well-oiled machine they are!

If you like Maiden's sound you should give UFO a listen. Steve Harris (Maiden's Bass Player) was a massive fan of Pete Way of UFO, it's where Maiden get their 'Galloping Bass' sound - & Steve gets his fashion sense - striped spandex - from. I recommend the track 'Rock Bottom' as an opener - & the Guitarist is one Michael Schenker, little Brother of Rudolph Schenker of the Scorpions who at the time of recording Rock Bottom was younger than some of your underwear & already a Guitar genius. Pete Way, sadly gone & much missed these past four years. Saw him live with UFO, Fastway & Waysted - always too drunk to stand, always in a spandex leotard with the crotch somewhere around his knees & always, always, always a Monster Bass-playing Machine. He's telling War stories in Valhalla as I type. Love your stuff, keep up the good work. Love & Kisses from the UK.

The original music video version is well worth a watch, it puts the song into context really well....saw them in 1989 or 1990 I think..in Belfast . A 10 -12 ft tall Eddy came on stage (a guy in costume and stilts) and rocked out with the band ...it was my first concert and I was hooked, I'm now 50 !

Iron Maiden's mascot is the skeletal ghoul 'Eddie the head'... It was introduced in 1980 on Iron Maiden's first album created by artist Derek Riggs after Maiden's manager Rod Smallwood wanted a 'sixth personality' to represent Iron Maiden visually because none of the 5 members of Iron Maiden in 1980 were striking personalities (They were all fairly shy and quiet guys, including vocalist Paul Di'Anno) Derek Riggs drew the first Iron Maiden cover of a skeletal ghoul w/ hollow eyes and punk rock hair, standing in the dark London streets... and that was what Smallwood liked and commissioned Riggs to draw 'Eddie' in various incarnations from 1980 to 1991... Riggs said the painting of 'Eddie' was inspired by the photo of a decapitated soldier's head on display on a tank during the Vietnam war. After Riggs quit working for Iron Maiden, artist Melvyn Grant took over drawing 'Eddie' in 1992. The name 'Eddie' came when Rod Smallwood met Iron Maiden in 1979 during their club days, he noticed that the band had a silver mask next to the band's logo onstage which would spew out smoke during their set or drip fake blood during the song 'Iron Maiden'... Smallwood asked bassist Steve Harris what the mask was and Harris told him, "Oh, we call it the head" (In his thick British accent, it sounded like "The 'Ed"... hence, the name 'Eddie the head') When Iron Maiden began touring in 1980 on their first album, Eddie replaced the silver mask onstage and Smallwood had 'Eddie' masks made so that a roadie could assume the character onstage... In 1982, Iron Maiden hired a stage prop company that created tall figures onstage w/ actors on stilts... They created this monolithic 'Eddie' to wander onstage during Iron Maiden concerts and would tower over the band members for a few minutes before leaving.

Great song, also when you can, see contemporary band Liliac, a family of sibling, musical savants, they do a kick buff cover of the Trooper that is a must see, it is from around 5 years ago and they are just kids and teens and it is one of the best covers you will ever see.
