Its the painful truth that no one is really willing to accept. Everyone rather have flings and then feel like they are entitled to complain about their fbw not wanting a relationship. Heck even with the "Nice guys finish last saying" what self respecting person wants to commit to anybody with a sexually irresponsible past, I'm not saying be a virgin and wait until marriage, I'm saying if you screwed as many people as an NFL roster don't expect this nice sweet person to want to commit because you didn't value anyone out of your sexual pleasure so what's the chances of them being special.

Floyd Palmer I'm not sure if this is true but I've heard that those numbers are often misleading because those statistics come from wedding planners. So it's not the cost of an average wedding, it's the cost of an average wedding among people who are wealthy enough to have wedding planners.

Multiple reasons really, i tend to look at from the male perspective. Getting married is pretty much stacked against men unfair child custody laws, only men are paying for support. The bigger reason imo, is feminism, Feminism made it difficult for both men and women to form relationships and with that you got a generation of men and women that are unhappy.
@GutsTheBeast10 жыл бұрын

Boom, finally someone got it correct. You have to be crazy to marry a woman and have kids these days, unless you like the idea of being financially fucked and never being able to see your kids if you have any. If you're earning massive amounts of money, have no criminal record and divorce your wife who's an unemployed crack addict with 20 assault charges, they will take everything you own and you'll never see your kids, that's just how it works, thanks to feminists. Then they have the guts to say they're hard done by because they get called a slut and earn slightly less than men, lol. The whole idea of marriage is ridiculous anyway, really, you sign a piece of paper which means NOTHING other than the fact that she/he will take half of everything you own. Marriage is an insecurity, locking someone in because you're too worried or know that you will separate without it.

The Western women's movement is why marriage is dying. It's scared all the men away. Western women get divorced at the drop of a hat, have zero domestic skills, clean you out financially, have little family values and want to be dominant in the relationship. That's why I married a beautiful South American woman. She has extremely strong family values, after 19 years together sex and her looks are a priority, she has no problem being treated like a lady and treating me like a man, no problem sharing chores with me, insists and enjoys cooking, doesn't take it as an insult and all the while working and having a successful career. My best friend married a girl from the same area and he's happily married as well. Mean while all my friends who married American hedgehog looking women are miserable in sexless, loveless marriages.

Jason Downs To find such a woman is a dream come true. I'm happy for you..I'm 23 and my parents are already pressuring the whole marriage thing. I'm from a Christian home and I love my faith but at the same time I look at the women in around in the UK and I'm like F*ck that. Why would I put myself through the stress of the brattish women around me. Also I come from a household with money and I don't want some manipulative chick divorcing me, taking half my stuff, my kids, alimony and child support. Prenups in England can easily be thrown out so they don't guarantee much. I'm like why bother with it all. The risk is too high. I don't want to be some bitter middle aged man who is estranged from his teenage kids who I have to pay for, but still hates my guts because of being poisoned by an evil witch of a mum. Maybe latin and south america may be where I have to go, depends on whether the airborne virus of feminism has spread there to. All I know is the UK is doomed, our women have gone awol

porkchops91 I hear you, man. As far as going to another country to find women, you have to be careful in your approach. My first bit of advice is to find one that works hard when you meet her. In my experience, girls from the rural areas know what hard work is and that is an excellent head start. My second bit of advice is critical. If you take a woman from a foreign country and want her to stay the same as she is when you meet her, don't bring her back to your country. The 'virus' you mentioned will overtake her like whooping cough on the Aztec empire. It's possible for a woman to keep her good qualities, but I have seen many women become full-on 'westernized' in under five years. The highest success rate I have witnessed is when men find a wife in a foreign country and stay with them in that foreign country. But Jason, you do have a good thing going, but it's not only due to her culture, there's still something wonderful inside her that you don't find in every woman from her country. But I think Jason hit the bullseye when he mentioned 'she has no problem being treated like a lady and treating me like a man'. That is really key for success in marriage, especially in western cultures, too many western women have no clue at all how to let a man be a man, and even less of how to behave like a lady that men would deem 'marriageable'. Western culture has made it fashionable to drag men down and unfashionable to celebrate men for being men. No need to worry about either of you guys, you 'get it' and that sets you ahead of so many men in this new world.

***** I grew up with a lot of laos, thai, cambodia refugees that came to my area in the early 80s. I picked up a bit of the language, (it's much easier when you are still young). And later in life, I dated a lot of women that had come to the US after marrying a G.I. and were divorced. I got along great with these women, but they were open with me about having more than one boyfriend at a time. i know many people will judge for that but for me, I considered them 'my girl' only for the time that we were together and never grew too emotionally tight with them. The other guys would all dump money on them and then drive themselves crazy trying to maintain control over them. I vacationed with one of them to Thailand and then two more times with another one that introduced me to girls in the country and watched my back when we were in the bigger cities. I have a half dozen friends all over the country that I HAVE to visit every time I go to Thailand now. But I have seen many situations, I know ones that came to the US and went buck-wild, I know ones that are quite slick at getting men to spend money on them, and I know ones that have come to America and done very well, others not so much. And the ones that I would consider most desirable are country girls, but my plan is to retire there in a few years and I think, for me, my best bet is to find one and keep her where I found her. I never did go in for the mail order bride thing for myself, but I did translate at a few events where western men meet the girls that go to the bride service. Interesting things I noted. There are a LOT of men that can't understand a word of Thai, meet with a woman that doesn't know more than 50 words of English over a weekend, and are absolutely ready to commit. From that, I see a bad experience in their future. Both sides are interested in the wrong things and it's doomed to start. But I don't need any service to introduce me to women, and I''m not condemning those agencies. A good portion of the women I saw go full on westernized in a few years were ones that people would call 'mail order' brides, so take care. But I see a lot of people hooking up through them for all the wrong reasons. Women that are motivated to leave their home country are not looking for beautiful scenery in another country, they are looking for economic opportunity, whether that means living off the man or getting good job in America, for instance. So in a sense, they are motivated by money, and many of the men I translated for seemed to be in it for sex and a domestic worker, and I can't tell you how many of these relationships are doomed because one or both parties is not searching in the right place or for the right reasons, or both. Sorry this was so long, cheers on your good fortune, and I know how the homesickness can affect asian women.
@goondocksaints95979 жыл бұрын
***** I agree with the need for concern in Bangkok, but I don't even fly into BK anymore. And the least likely place you would find me is in the southern half of the country. I fly into Chiang Mai now. But I'm always on a raised state of awareness because of the crazy things that happen when I'm there. I was a little outside of Chantaburi just after Christmas in 2004 when the tsunami rocked the shoreline. I was close to the coast, but on the gulf side of the peninsula. I was also near Chiang Rai in the north just days after they had that earthquake last year. But no hints of violence so far, (knock on wood). I concur on the virtues of country girls, I noticed that they are a little more interested in marriage than in leaving the country. In fact, in the rural areas, I rarely found anyone that showed much interest in even visiting the US. I used to tease the local kids that I was negotiating with their parents to adopt them and bring them home with me. In any case, after re-reading my earlier post, I want to mention that I don't want to scare people away from dating services. None of the one's I've had experience with or heard about were scams. I only wanted to raise people's awareness that they should not expect to find a good match on one of those week-long tour packages. And also wanted to encourage the men interested to understand that if they are only thinking about finding a housekeeper that they can have sex with, the relationship will not last long at all. It's a tired old stereotype that Americans tend to believe that Asian woman are submissive and easy to control. I know that you know better, davey, so don't feel that I'm lecturing you about this. I just would feel better if I help people find a better fit for them if they are going to the trouble to travel that far to find a bride.

People aren't getting married because no one takes marriage seriously and it's not necessary. A woman has no incentive to be married even when she has children, because she can be paid to remain single and raise the kids on her own via the welfare state including child support. If she marries him, she has the divorce card in her back pocket that she can play and get paid again via alimony and child support. If she becomes a career woman, she has no need for a man or kids because she'll have money and can take care of herself. Even into old age. Men know all of these things and avoid marriage altogether. In the United States, the individual comes first and foremost over the collective. Even if you want to be a family guy or a family woman ... will the other person feel the same way you do?

If people want marriage to become a thing again, we need to remove the finance part from it. Here in Germany, alimony is voluntary. This way, women have no motivation to marry men solely for their money, and men have less reason to not get married when they fall in love. If you don't have to be afraid for your livelihood, then you are free to follow your heart's desire. And really, in a society where men and women have equal opportunity to seek employment and are paid about equal wages, why should we force one partner to pay for the other one? This isn't the dark ages people. Time to wake up to modernity.

Ana, your misandry is showing. You implied there are no men at the age of 28 with "their shit together". Maybe men in that age group today do not live for women the way men of previous generations did. Also, "Man up" and get married is insulting. Some men want to be married and some choose to refrain from getting married, neither is inherently more of a man than the other. Its simply a life choice.

Bad economy? Not ready? Cohabitation? How about one major reason as to why marriage is on the decline? Feminism. Back in the old days (20 to 30 years ago) teens were getting married at 16 to 18 years old regardless if they are rich, poor, or have "their shit together." People back then were getting married left and right regardless of how bad the economy were. Stop making pathetic excuses as to why marriage is failing.

If you are confused about why people aren't getting married young in Spain then do some research to find out how the men there are treated. All a woman has to do is claim he hit her and he'll be in jail. Get a divorce and she could take all of his wealth. Even in the west marriage is a financial prison for men and we will continue avoiding it like crazy. In fact I have never known a man who was excited to get married - it was ALWAYS the women, ALWAYS. But then that's just based upon my personal experience.
@thunderbird19213 жыл бұрын
It's a generational thing. Men AND women used to love their marriage and becoming such was what they longed for. If you look at say the World War II generation, many of them had marriages over 50-60 years. The love was mutual, giving and selfless. It's none of that today.

Why is no one getting married, because men don't want to give half their net worth to a woman just because she married him once. If modern women are supposed to be so strong and independent, why are they still taking alimony? Why are they getting paid a portion of man's salary if they can work themselves? Why do they collect child support from fathers who aren't even allowed to see their own children? So you tell me, WHY IS NO ONE GETTING MARRIED? Think long and hard! I've lived in Germany for nearly 3 years and its amazing... I've never met a single mother or even heard about one. Family seems to be really important here. Now I've never took a survey to see whose actually married but when you see a pregnant woman, you see her with her man, you see as many men pushing strollers or with their kids as you see women. That is just not the case in America and I think that's sad. I wonder why that is considering Americans are significantly more religious than Germans.
@doc700010 жыл бұрын
The problem here is that you like many Americans were brain washed into thinking that ethics and morals are the domain of religion. Thinking that people being religion makes them better people is a common mistake that many Americans that I know (I am an American myself BTW) also make. Also you do not have to be married to be a good mom/dad and do a good job raising kids (another lie told to Americans).

This includes at the workplace, a hostess judging me for not asking her permission if i could get her daughters number which in fact she was already 18 years old which to me is an adult. Some women try to manipulate me and use me. I haven't had a gf for about 8 years and counting and don't want one anymore. Women labeling me creepy is not going to make me interested in women anymore and so I rather be single and have no kids and die with no family.

@RoySchl10 жыл бұрын
***** yeah but then it is only a problem to the people deciding against marriage, and hey they seem to be fine. and yeah, i see those tax breaks more as a discrimination against ugly unlovable unsocial etc. people, everybody that would like to get married but cannot for whatever reason find a person to do it with cannot get those financial benefits. those should not exist, its more or less an incentive to marry and therefore make babys so population grows so that the economy grows and so on, because it's rooted in ever growing everything. another thing would be visitation rights in the hospital, but that could easily changed to a legally binding list of people you would grant those rights in case of emergency.
@priscillabaden973910 жыл бұрын
***** Also being able to see your partner in the hospital and have your partner be the one to make medical decisions on your behalf. Immigrating together. Sharing benefits.
@RoySchl10 жыл бұрын
like i said above somewhere you would not have to bind that to some 1 person emotional/sexual relationship status... you could just as easily make a legal document containing a list with ALL the persons (not just your 1 partner) that you would grant those rights. still no need for marriage, and the alternative would be more practical.
@priscillabaden973910 жыл бұрын
RoySchl "creating a legal document" outside of marriage isn't going to help you with immigration, nor will it force your company to extend your benefits to a non-married partner if they don't want to do it. I don't believe hospitals have to allow anyone who isn't family to see a patient.

Monogamy is unnatural? Are you kidding? It may not be needed for civilization but its defiantly natural.
@scienceismyopium10 жыл бұрын
You're actually both right. SmartK8 Humans are not naturally monogamous but as ***** said, marriage did make civilization what it is (for better or worst). Humans are what we call *socially monogamous*. Historically marriage has always been a contract, an investment between two parties; the women's family 'offered' her servitude, and men provided security both financially and physically. The end game was about raising children; in humans, the paternal investment in raising a child is very important for both the child and the mother. This little arrangement however does not prevent the basic animalistic need of men and women to seek out higher quality mates. When there is no children, men and women are as likely to seek elsewhere, but when children come to the equation, women tend to be more 'faithful' because promiscuity will affect her ability to raise competitive offsprings by loosing the 'daddy' resource. People are actually quite surprised to know that historically, marriage wasn't about monogamy or even love, it was about securing resources. If the female strays elsewhere whilst married, she is assured that her 'daddy' resource is still intact, the same goes for males, they know their offsprings will have a competitive shot at life and reproduce themselves, therefor making his genes 'immortal'. Obviously, things change and evolve but this was pretty much the logic behind social monogamy that we still practice today.
@SmartK810 жыл бұрын
Drake Targaryen Unnatural in a sense of not being evolutionary and historically a default kind of relationship. The most common was living in a structured tribe. Kids were raised by mother first years then by whole tribe (relatives). There were monogamous relations except in few percentages that two people were faithful to each other. Institutionalized monogamy is an artificial construct (but only in some cultures).

Marriage is a scam all over, but it's different in each country. In parts of India, the father of the bride has to pay a sum of money to the soon to be husband. The poor fathers have to take loans that they know they can't pay back and some then commit suicide. In some East Asian countries, your bank account becomes communal property and the leeching relatives make everyone poor ad give no incentive to make any money.
