Problem is most people aren't listening/watching stuff like this. It will take a holistic approach to fix some wide ranging problems because they are mostly tied to the petrodollar. Greening the economy will help but as I've said before we'll attempt to burn every piece of carbon in the ground before the world economy goes green which means sea level rise is on target and so is ice cap melting. Severe weather events will create climate refugees in the United States itself. We've already seen the mass migrations from Katrina... Not reported on very much but is the case.

What originally caused the economic crisis in Venezuela? I hear some say Madero others say US sanctions... I decided to look for news clips around the world to see what the economy was like before there was any sanctions even on individuals in Venezuela. I reasoned if they caused the problem, then the economy should not already be in crisis prior to sanctions. What I found was that they were already in a severe crisis headed toward hyperinflation caused by excessive currency speculation (buying and selling currency) and a powerful black market. Sanctions made a crisis worse beginning in 2017, but they didn't cause the crisis Venezuela has many resources and capabilities why rely only on oil? This creates an unnecessary vulnerability. Why borrow so much money to have the huge national debt? This makes it difficult to just pay the interest. And why did Hugo Chavez set multiple currency exchange rates that invited currency speculation? These policies were all set into practice years before sanctions and have had terrible effects on their economy. I haven't seen a good explanation for why these things were done. Having said that the sanctions, from 2017 when it involved the banking industry, have made it more difficult to manage the crisis. They can still borrow from other countries who aren't US allies and do business with these countries so they alone can't be attributed to these severe problems. Here's some of the clips that led me to my believe excessive currency speculation was the primary cause of the Venezuelan crisis. kzbin.info/aero/PLn95Vk05FrXEUrxPZ6jCyBO4joqt56Nww

@@fieldflower7916 U.S. Leadership has been working to undermine the Democratically-elected Leadership in Venezuela ever since Chavez was elected. Looking at anything they did in the past few years - in reaction to what outsider banksters were doing isn't accomplishing your premise of finding the "original cause". For origins of outside interference one needs to go back before the babyBush & Cheney petro-politic activities (which were easily overlooked with the more violent petro-political actions being perpetrated in the Middle East).

Great to hear that the "normal" Venezuelan opposition are beginning to tremble at a possible U.S. Military carpet bombing and increased U.S. sanctions and the threat of U.S.-style "destabilization." I bet you think that Cuba is a nice place to live too. That is exactly what Venezuela is becoming. You are just too ignorant to fight against a regime that wants to empower itself to be in power forever. How much of an intellectual weakling do you have to be to swallow the "blue" pill, instead of seeing the truth. If you really are a Venezuelan and not just a Maduro-bot online, then you should be ashamed of everything you are, down the core. You are a traitor to the future of your own country - exactly like EVERY Castro supporter.

@@braelig I don't live in Cuba. I visited the Island in the early 1990's by yacht. Venezuela is NOTHING like Cuba. Any fool knows that. More than 90 percent of businesses are PRIVATELY owned in Venezuela which makes Venezuela a capitalist country with socialist programs for the poorer Venezuelan majority. Simple. The United Kingdom, the United States, the Scandinavian countries, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Canada etcetera are MORE socialist than Venezuela. Do your research before you make a fool of yourself on KZbin. Venezuela's petroleum was nationalised by Carlos Andres Perez in 1975. It had nothing to do with Chavez or the Maduro government. I personally prefer a government who works for the people and I do not appreciate any government that works for the Globalists and multinational corporations. Cuba has endured more than 40 years of sanctions. Under the circumstances it has done very well for itself. Cuba exports doctors and dentists. The diabolical United States of Israel 🇮🇱 🇺🇸 exports terrorism, death and destruction. Viva Maduro 💕 Viva la revolución Bolivariana 💕

@@wilcoxwilcox3272 Any fool who actually watches news from a SPANISH media channel knows that Chavez's hero was Castro. Even his cancer treatment was in Cuba. And that Venezuela's economy is based on oil 95% of exports and 25% of GDP, so when you let the government take over your dominant source of income as a nation, then you let a dictator have control of your country, what the fuck happens? The dictator and his cronies pocket as much of the wealth as they can, not only rig, but even reverse elections by accusing elected officials of crimes right after the elections that could have ousted Maduro. I mean you literally have no clue what the fuk you are talking about. Maduro's qualifications were that he was an ex-bus driver and a Chavez lackey. He can't even spell basic words. Here is what this dipshit has done to the country due to sheer ignorance: www.forbes.com/sites/stevehanke/2019/01/01/venezuelas-hyperinflation-hits-80000-per-year-in-2018/#3a61f87e4572 Comment on things you actually know about. @@braelig F*ck off. I have visited 88 countries in my lifetime and Venezuela is by far STILL the best out of all of them. I have no problem with the Castro/Chavez friendship. But Chavez died in March 2013. My dentist is Cuban and she's awesome. I am truly grateful for their friendship with the Maduro government too. By the way Venezuela is definitely the cheapest country in the world if you have access to USD or Euros which what all of the diabolical right wing fascist opposition in Venezuela most certainly have. As for the poorer Venezuelan majority they definitely SUPPORT the DEMOCRATICALLY elected President Maduro and his government. I have lived in Venezuela for 32 years now. I was here before Chavez, during Chavez and I am here after Chavez. I definitely prefer this Venezuela to the old Venezuela. I support President Maduro and his government and I have absolutely no intention of leaving Venezuela. I am 100% sure that there is no humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. I am 100% sure that there is no humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. I know because I travel the length and breadth of Venezuela at least every 2 or 3x months. Such a great point about Saudi cheap oil. It's amazing what the US will do to other countries while simultaneously blaming their hardships on "socialism". This is the same foreign policy scenario we've seen for years. Anytime a country chooses to nationalize it's resources, the US stages a fake "uprising" and swoops in to spread "democracy". Venezuela will soon join the list ... Iran (1953); Guatemala(1954); Thailand (1957); Laos (1958-60); the Congo (1960); Turkey (1960, 1971 & 1980); Ecuador (1961 & 1963); South Vietnam (1963); Brazil (1964); the Dominican Republic (1963); Argentina (1963); Honduras (1963 & 2009); Iraq (1963 & 2003); Bolivia (1964, 1971 & 1980); Indonesia (1965); Ghana (1966); Greece (1967); Panama (1968 & 1989); Cambodia (1970); Chile (1973); Bangladesh (1975); Pakistan (1977); Grenada (1983); Mauritania (1984); Guinea (1984); Burkina Faso (1987); Paraguay (1989); Haiti (1991 & 2004); Russia (1993); Uganda (1996);and Libya (2011)

Please do not misread as I am a US political sympathizer. I only want the US to have long lasting relationships with other nations around the world. There is a proverb in the Vietnamese sociolinguistic texts saying "Them ban, bot thu" which literally means "More friends less enemies". I personally appeal to the US to give attention to it and where appropriate add this proverbial meaning in its political agendas on interacting with the world for the sake of strengthening its political stance on the world stage and hence for the world peace. In my observation, the legally elected President Mr Maduro is very tolerant and kind to the illegally declared president Mr Guaido who is causing severe social disorder, violence and chaos in his country. He could have taken this lawless man into custody long ago. Yes, it seems WW3 is inevitable unfortunately for the whole peoples of the Earth Planet! It is unbelievable, in my view, that President Trump announced that the U.S. recognized the opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s new leader. The statement made sounds very arrogant, highly intrusive and lawless. Under what source of law can President Trump employ to declare the opposition leader Juan Guaido is a legitimate Interim President? Should we all respect International Laws or the more powerful nations do not have to observe them? There is no ground under international laws that enables the opposition leader Mr Guaido to declare himself to be interim president of Venezuela. Thus President Trump’s statement of recognition of Mr Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela indicates that President Trump thinks he can dogmatically represent, approve and appoint a Venezuelan president on behalf of the Venezuelan people regarding who is to run this country. Can the US continue to lead and represent the Democratic World while continuing to interact with other nations in this direction? The current social and economic problems of Venezuela is of its own domestic affairs, while bearing in mind that Venezuela’s economic problems are largely caused by the US economic sanctions. Relevant external forces, please be observing that the current legally elected President Mr Maduro has the right to reject aids from any unfriendly provider and his rejection should be respected. There should not be any external power coerce him or his nation to receive an unwanted aid, especially when he has publicly declared that he would receive aids from another source soon. Coercion which aiming at or intending to, be it explicit or implied, to overthrow his Government, would be held as or assumed to be in violation of “all norms and conventions of international law.” Humanitarian aid should always be maintained as a genuine human suffering relief. It should not be misused or manipulated by anyone for enhancing one’s own political agenda be it of a nation or an individual. Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said "Sunday humanitarian aid "is going to get through" to Venezuela with or without the cooperation of Nicolas Maduro". This statement if it follows through by the act threatened, it would amount to or be conceived as a declaration of war and not an action of aid; and it would be unfortunate not only for the people of Venezuela but for the whole world. The Red Cross has declared that The US Aids on the relevant occasion are not aids but is politicized and so as a UN human rights expert, Idriss Jazairy who has previously stated that “Coercion, whether military or economic, must never be used to seek a change in government in a sovereign state. The use of sanctions by outside powers to overthrow an elected government is in violation of all norms of international law”. As of mine concern, there should not be any external forces there lurking to impose or coerce to bring about a change of the legitimate government. A world superpower should not coerce a flimsy nation to take "humanitarian aids" should that nation refuse to do so. Under International Law and norms of the United Nations, humanitarian aids must not be used for political ends of any nations. Thus I sincerely hope that President Trump does not mean it literally when he officially declared Mr Guaido as the “legitimate interim” president! Mr Guaido, the most naïve political figure of all, has no legal status to declare himself as the president of Venezuela. His act of declaration under the circumstances makes him looks like a clown at the most under the world observation and opinion. He should now formally withdraw his unlawful declaration as the ‘interim president’ and publically offer apologies for his naïve ambition and unlawful coup-attempts and denounce his own act of illegal usurpation of power to the people of Venezuela and the legitimately elected President Mr Maduro so as to restore social order and peace for Venezuela. Since Mr Guaido is not the president of Venezuela he has no legal ground to invite foreigners to intervene and assist him in Venezuela. He is so politically inexperienced and it is very unfortunate for all Venezuelans! More embarrassingly he has selfishly used his own twenty one months old daughter as human shield to protect him physically and politically by holding her in various dangerous and politically chaotic gathered crowds. The opposition leader Mr Guaido is selling his country off cheaply for his own selfish political ambitions. It is very unfortunate for the people of Venezuela. As a political sympathizer of the US I urge it and the President to reconsider the recognition statement. If WW3 is really a non-stoppable event, then there would be no winners, as most of human races would be gone consequently. Hence, for the sake of humanities and their survivals, please employ our logical, fair, just and reasonable minds to confront and resolve international issues by peaceful means and military must be the last option to use.

Some people wonder why the the US has been able to strong arm everyone in Europe to go along with this fantasy that Guido is legitimate in any way. It's quite simple really. Venezuela is oil rich and the industry has been nationalized. The elite ruling class of Europe and the US are united in their opposition to any nation state (with a few exceptions within Europe) attempting to nationalize their resources, especially one with some of the world's largest oil reserves like Venezuela. Huge energy companies want access to exploit that land and Venezuela has been pissing the US off for a while now with their Socialist obstinance. I believe that the years long dip in oil prices have been coordinated between the Saudis and US domestic producers to crush the Venezuelan economy. Chavez was foolish to leave so many eggs in one basket. The CIA is and has been single minded in overthrowing the current regime for a while and they see this as an opportunity. I'm just fascinated by how this coup has unfolded. It's a coup right out in the open for everyone to see, yet the mainstream media continues to try and explain to us that it's not a coup, and that Guido is actually the real president because other countries suddenly say so. It really is crazy. Imagine if the rest of the world had a big vote and decided our president wasn't our real president and some other guy announced he was the new president out of the blue. How do you think that would be received?

It would be nice to see the photos of the of failed power equipment which was at the root of the Venezuelan power grid failure. This would be indicative of how this failure occurred and show whether it was in fact poor equipment infrastructure as a coincidence of political timing or a deliberate act because of the political times?

Thanks for mentioning "food sovereignty", which I learned about from Vandana Shiva. It's just another of the important bulwarks against capitalist globalization, in which countries like the US force foreign powers to become part of a global market, thus losing their local connection to their ecological system. One example being the ability to grow their own food.

Such an important report. If the US was a genuinely FREE country with a FREE press then when an experienced professional journalist like Max Blumenthal with local language skills returns after having travelled extensively inside Venesuala he would be in record demand by main stream media outlets. Instead he is reporting on KZbin to alternative media outlets that reaches a few thousand people or so. His message should be heard by all Americans! What a crazy place we live in!

The Venezuelan crisis will pass and other crisis will come.. but the hate, the pain that US has produced will remain in the head of millions of people, and sadly it will emerge when (very soon I think) the US empire will fall.. In that moment, I hope the rest of the world show humanity towards Americans, because the American people is different than their governments and elites ... but I doubt it. Karma IS a bitch....

These issues you highlight should be strongly presented at all levels to the public ear and brought forward for public debate and scrutiny. The American people are enslaved into funding a war machine ruled by international elites. The people deserve to be told in a way they can hear what's being said.
