Borderlands 2 is a 2012 first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. Taking place five years following the events of Borderlands (2009), the game is again set on the planet of Pandora. The story follows a new group of Vault Hunters who must ally with the Crimson Raiders, a resistance group made up of civilian survivors and guerrilla fighters, to defeat the tyrannical Handsome Jack before he can unlock the power of a new Vault. With the unexpected success of the first game, Gearbox was able to secure a budget of $30-35 million to develop the sequel. Like its predecessor, the game adopted the "concept art style", which features graphics inspired by both photorealistic imagery and comic-book-inspired visuals. The team attempted to address players' feedback from the first game, and recruited Anthony Burch who wrote the game's script which is seven times longer than that of the original game. Among the game's diverse cast of characters, Handsome Jack, the central antagonist, was created to be a charismatic "douche" that mirrors Burch's own personality. Borderlands 2 was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2012, and it was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as part of The Handsome Collection in March 2015.
The game received universal acclaim upon release. Critics generally praised the game's visuals, writing, gameplay, and online multiplayer, as well as its variety of guns, while criticising its mission design and content fillers. The handheld and the virtual reality versions of the game were regarded to be inferior to the console and PC versions. More than 20 million units were shipped upon release and the game became 2K's most successful release. It was nominated for multiple year-end accolades by several gaming publications. Gearbox supported the game with four add-on campaigns, new characters and five content packs. The game was followed by Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in October 2014, and Borderlands 3 in September 2019. According to leaks in August 2023 Gearbox Software has officially begun development of Borderlands 4 on the Unreal Engine 4.

Im a firm believer that New Tales From The Borderlands didnt even sell 10,000 Copies across all Platforms. That game is a clear sign that Gearbox has nothing but Diversity Hires on their Writing Team and people hate the Writing of BL3 and Wonderlands. I can bet that Borderlands 4 will be even worse in the Writing than BL3 and Wonderlands. If we are lucky we will have the "Skip Cutscene" option on Day One, but I dont think they will add it because they know people will always use it.

For K6 and Joltz, I really don't think it comes down to the money. It comes down to being able to be cool with the developers. Like has been said before, its the lifestyle they can live now, being flown out by gearbox and given the VIP treatment. When it comes down to the core of the issue its still Randy and these gearbox devs. I just imagine nothing but a bunch of thin skinned people who start crying and have to sit in a box everytime they hear a negative thing about their game. If you have good people creating this game they want honest criticism of the game, because they know what they have to work on to improve. Now they use that money the franchise has earned to silence the voices and pay off the biggest creators. Hell compare BL1 and BL2. They took the issues people have with BL1 and made a better game with BL2. I feel like these were developers who wanted to improve that game and they worked on in and created a masterpiece with BL2. I wonder how many of the people who worked on BL2 are even still employed by gearbox.

Back in the day 2k nextmakers kept talking about having a Diablo or Destiny styled features in Borderlands years before Wonderlands released. Gearbox listens to this feedback. When Wonderlands was revealed, I kept saying that Wonderlands was going to be a budget Diablo and people jumped down my throat for it. What did chaos chambers end up being? Budget Diablo. Call it a conspiracy theory, but I point partial blame to that kind of feedback. Wonderlands is a byproduct of community feedback that was terrible feedback distributed by the nextmakers.

What people who are telling you to move on don’t get is that you’re not planning to do this forever. These videos are not only shedding light on behavior that was previously unknown to most of the Borderlands community, they’re also documentation of said behavior. That means that if Borderlands 4 drops and smaller creators are being silenced for having opinions contrary to what Gearbox wants, if K6 goes full psycho in DMs again like he did with Hellfire, etc. then that pattern of behavior will now be documented for all of the Borderlands community to reference.

Claptastic Voyage is a good DLC. Tiny Tina was a great DLC. The DLC's in Wonderlands are a joke. It looks the Krieg DLC in BL3 was good but not great. I never played that because I prefer BL2.
