Thankyou Soham. Your videos are a joy to watch, simple, straight forward, and easy to understand. "Flip it over and give it another love tap." would have to be my favourite instruction yet :-)

Great video Soham, I really like how you kept this a full long video instead of breaking it into parts!

Hi, me again. I managed to find the video and there is no more video, only a written bit about how to drill holes in the top and then in those holes we're supposed to push towards the cab to "secure it". Then, proceed with flush setting/gypsy setting, etc. You had mentioned that we could set stones or just decorate the top. So, I don't want to set stones, but I DO want to secure the cabochon, and I don't want to drill holes through the top. That said, it seems like I can only glue it in, I can't imagine being able to move that thick of a bezel to secure the cab. Thanks. I wish these bits were easier to find the completeion. I love this settign, thanks for doing this video!

I can’t find a training video that takes the piece shown here to its completion with the stone set in the thick bezel. Peter Keep is making a ring (in FAST MOTION) when sets the stone in a thick, full backed bezel, not a step bezel as you are here. Can you offer a URL where this instruction can be found? Love your videos...very informative and a VERY ZEN, calming time for me when listening to your voice...

Thanks for the video but I wish you had shown how to actually set the stone in the thick bezel...Any possibility of that? TIA.

Trying to see how the stone was set was my only reason for watching until the end. I still am in the dark.

Brilliantly Done... Is it possible you can make a video on casting the bezel shank used. The cast came out very nice...

Re flux Soham: i have a large container of the paste flux which gets way too hard. Ive stuck with liquid until now but like the location control you appear to get with paste. How to dilute - water or alcohol? And do you just do small amounts from larger container? Thanks for all your great hints and rationale. So helpful to fine tune what i do.
@1soham17 жыл бұрын
use distilled water. i keep a thin film of water on the flux, and mix a bit before using

Hi Soham! I can't seem to find the end of this one with Peter setting the cab. Is it epoxy'd in or actually hammer set with the think bezel? Thanks, I'm about to try it, if I can figure out how or where the video is.
@1soham16 жыл бұрын
he set it by using his point burnisher in the hole for the faceted stone, so it is a series of bumps rather than a smooth bezel

Just found your site and love your work and tutorials! Thanks! I do have a question..which torch do you prefer Acetylene tank or smith little torch? I used an acetylene at school but am setting up my on workspace in my garage. Which do you think would work best for an at home workshop? Thanks
@1soham17 жыл бұрын
i prefer the smiths little torch with lpg oxy. if you are going to work in platinum you need acetylene oxy. the acetylene air works well for bigger things.

So is the stone setting video through a paid subscription only?
@1soham17 жыл бұрын
i think if you are a subscriber of mine you can type the password soham in peter's site and it is available if not free at least cheeper.
