My dad’s a chef. Everyone always assumes that he does all the cooking at home, but he doesn’t cook at all since he just got home from cooking all day at work. It’s rare when I eat something made by him. Also, he tends to critique everyone else’s cooking a lot. If you don't have eggs than you can subtract the oil and use mayonnaise instead, it makes the cake rise and it makes it airy and fluffy.and it works really good cause that's what I do when I make cakes, when it's done baking it doesn't taste like mayonnaise.

powdered sugar can be really absorbent to scents so if you have an air freshener or frequently burn candles or use other artificial scents in your house it can take on the smell. this happened to my sister's powdered sugar, she had scented trash bags in the pantry and the powdered sugar tasted just like them. that's most likely why you had the soap scent! best bet is to store it in an air tight container :)
